Why do we study lesser organisms on our planet? The aliens may view us as a scientific pursuit. They're just checking us out due to curiosity. The UFO's may not even have aliens in them. They may just be probes like the ones we have sent up the past few decades, just more advanced.

Fold space or travel via or even be from alternate dimensions or times. It is not unknown for our science to discover it made an error in calculations such as the red shift etc. It is possible alien life has found ways to exceed the speed of light. Supposedly impossible by our science but our science is pretty limited in many ways as we only know what we have so far discoverd and not all of what we think is absolute realy is.

I really don't believe that matter will ever exceed the speed of light; it seems such an absolute limit.

    Energy is another matter.

Energy has already been made to exist in two places at once, even with our relatively limited ability to quantify theories of physics; so it's not inconceivable that energy could be made to "travel" great distances nearly instantaneously.

So the trick is: Convert matter (us and a craft of some sort) to energy; make it appear somewhere else without already being there...then reconstruct our matter from the energy.

Otherwise even at the speed of light - which presents an entirely different set of challenges altogether - it would take multiple lifetimes to explore even the closest star systems which might be inhabited.

So, again, it would beg the question: why would a race so advanced take the kind of interest in us that would generate as many incidents of alien sightings as there are?

I could understand them being curious - once. Maybe a couple-three times.

But we're just not that interesting from a developmental standpoint, although the nature of our evolution might just be unique in the universe.

Consider it this way Nabo. What if they followed an evolution path similar to that of humans? What if by studying OUR evolution they can answer questions about their own past? If humans could look at a plant full of primates similar to our ancestors and study them over a period of time, we could possibly fill in the gaps of our evolutionary history.

    That's intriguing.

If there was a parallel dimension that had developed to be far more scientifically advanced, it would be a short trip indeed.

    Maybe that's so.

It's a nearly infinite universe, and many permutations of our evolution could be possible.

Although ours seems so "perfectly" random, it would be unlikely that another species developed alongside a lesser primate species with whom it shares 98%+ of its DNA, from a common ancestor.

I hope aliens come and blow up the entire planet.

If their planet evolved under similar conditions it wouldn't be surprising if they evolved somewhat like humans. Obviously not exactly, but if their world is anything like ours it could certainly be very similar.

So far the only conditions we know that can sustain life are on Earth....so it wouldnt be that odd if other life came from a very similar planet.
