It was one of the worst calls I have ever seen, I agree on the sharper fumble, but the angle of the video was not good to make the call

I can agree that the call was the demise of our final drive to victory. Maybe they don't have a rule for him throwing it backwards out of bounds. Maybe he just hangs on to the ball. It sure looked like he let go of the ball on purpose to get the ball out of bounds to me. It really sucks and we don't have to agree. I'll look at it again a few more times tomorrow.:knucks:

Yes Ginn showed nice hustle to get back and force that fumble. I coulda sworn it was fumbled out of bounds thru the endzone. And it came out before he crossed the goalline.

Anyone get an answer as to why the HELL we called that time out at the end of the first half?

    That KILLED us today.

It was a fumble but there wasn't a good camera angle. I liked that Ginn hustled but that should've never happen.

    BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a thread about this in club, Rhody. I think you'll be interested to see the figures on how consistently the Dolphins are MUCH better in the first half, then after halftime play worse.

    http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=39698

I think this staff gets out-coached at halftime with some frequency.

    Disagree.

    1) The run became ineffectual due to the Saints adjustments.

    2) We began to thrwo throw throw as a result, and when you do that you end up in 2nd and long a lot more often. That leads to bad things.

    3) The Saints began to move the ball effectively on our D with more runs, better routes called that let brees get the ball out of his hands, and better protections once they recognised some of the fronts we were trying to throw at them.

I didnt give him ALL the blame. I made clear there is plenty opf blame to go around but today the majority goes on him. We have shown we can play with anyone this year and we have also shown we can choke to anyone. Sparano has to improve his game management. The second half playcalling offensively and defensively was a joke.

the playcalling was bad in the 2nd half. sparano gave the saints a free TD at the end of the first half. We looked lost again (like the Colts game) in our final 3 minute drive. this isnt either or. many players deserve their share of the blame but this game especially the coaches let us down.

they did try to run in the 2d half ... and we got stuffed ...

i have no problem with the coaching ... the issue was with execution ... our execution in the 2d half was poor to say the least ...

LBs and WR ... that's what this team needs .... and needs badly ... and won't get it this year.

I disagree. We only ran the ball 8 times in the 2nd half. They didn't stop the run, for some reason we just gave up on it. And what i dont get is why we stopped running our bread and butter Wildcat formation where Ricky goes in motion and the defense will bite on either Ricky/Ronnie.

you call 8 attempts at running the ball "trying" in the NFL?

It's coaching... did you ever think it's the players?

I mean who are our problems. Fasano right now. Ginn, Gibril Wilson, and thats the main ones really.

You can yell and scream at a pile of **** all day long, but it's not going to magically turn into a daisy.

Look at the rest of the team and how they play before you take the garbage play of a few players out of context and blame the coaches. If this were garbage play across the board, I could buy it. But it's a handful of specific players that day in, and day out, play like ***. What can you do about that at this point? The trade deadline is over, there's likely not any great upgrades in FA or we'd already have them... I mean seriously...

Yes, incosistency is a problem that coaching should solve. But consistently awful is not something that they can do anything about.

But in fairness, that TimeOut call was absolutely stupid. They did deserve the TD though, so I really think that's a wash, the guy fumbled and recovered in the endzone. Sure we could have mitigated it, but we already lucked out in getting the call to bounce our way.

To be honest, I think the only reason we were in the game was because of the coaching staff.

We were up against the best team in the NFL, a team that has a lot more talent than us. The fact that we had a chance to win was surprising to me.

    This.

Maybe it's the optimist in me, but I just can't get too upset by a loss like this. Had this happened against a lesser foe it would be a different story, but we're playing beyond the talent level on our roster right now.

my biggest beef with sparano is consistency. I've noticed a lack of consistency from our players under his reign.

Sparano's excuse that he "needed to get the right personnel out there" is pure BS. I'm sorry. You really need "the right personnel" for a chip shot field goal? REALLY?? Nice excuse, Tony. If the refs had got the call right to begin with and saw that his knee was clearly down before the ball crossed the goal line, the clock runs out and we go into halftime up 24-3. But of course, the refs got the call wrong (just like the Bess "fumble", which the Saints scored 7 on) and it had to be reviewed and overturned. That being said, there is no excuse to call a timeout in that situation. NONE!!!!!!!!!

WE score 34 points, and our offensive players get blame? First, 4 points alone can be attributed to a dumb call by Sparano. The time out before half. Second, we just plain got outcoached in the 2nd half. We have a problem tackling. We've had it all year, and it hasn't gotten better. You can blame one person for dropping a pass, you can maybe blame two, but when your whole team has a problem catching passes, and your whole defense has a problem tackling, are you going to blame each and everyone of those players or look up the chain of command?

Bravo. Good post. I said it in an earlier post. The D gave up a ton of points and yards, and most people are mad at Ginn for being Ginn. I will never support Ginn, but let's not let the rest of the team off the hook.

I haven't read through the entire thread, but what are the rules regarding time run offs? Clearly the saints wouldn't of had enough time to run another play if it wasn't called a TD...

I remember thinking "where's the 10 sec. run off?" Anyone know the rules regarding that? I was sure it was suppose to implemented, but obviously I was wrong.
