Seems to me that Ted Ginn's worst enemy is Ted Ginn. Not anyone else, or anyone on a message board saying whatever or that they are displeased with his performance thus far. Just saying.

Ginn sucks for a number of reasons, some of which have to do with his size and build and/or lack of heart, which result in his constantly avoiding contact and hearing footsteps. But to hear Mandich and Duper tell it elsewhere on this board, and both of those guys know something about being an NFL receiver, it's also his route running, which he rounds off, making it easy for defenders to run stride for stride with him, instead of making cuts in order to get open and present a target to his quarterback. And it isn't only Ginn; Joe Rose says that the tight ends just take off running instead of running routes.

That's technique. That can be coached if the player is coachable. We can blame Coach Dorrell but we don't know how hard he's trying and whether Ginn and the tight ends are just not complying. It may make sense for Parcells to bring in someone from outside to evaluate the performance of Ginn, Dorrell and the TEs to see if anything can be done from a coaching standpoint before we clean house with these guys.

padre, i was advocating Marion to replace Ginn next year over the summer and got blasted ... of course, with the repeat knee injury, neither might happen.

what is clear though, is that Ginn will not be here next year - unless he proves to be a well above average KR.

i understand what adam says WRT stretching the field, but i look at it this way ... if i am the DC of the opposition, i will only pay Ginn passive attention on the field until he burns me. maybe that's what happened with the JESTS, who knows regardless if Revis was covering or not. at the end of the day, you worry about true, known threats -- and Ginn just isn't that, not now -- not ever to date.

i also was not impressed with Bess' performances lately ... he looked good at the end of last season, but not so much this year. he can't improve his speed of course, but he is going to have to find a way to get separation and make catches as well.

i was an advocate of trading CAM and keeping Bess and Hartline, but now it is Hartline and CAM who seem indispensible right now. Turner may need time, but we are going to need him to earn a spot on the field soon.

there is no doubt that WR along with LB will be the focus this offseason and in the draft. Too bad Dallas extended Ware, but that still leaves Merriman (if he is healthy) ... and we'll sign a WR as well ... along with the draft for S, ILB

padre, CK -- i wonder what the odds of signing Mickens off of Dallas' practice squad are ... since we'll likely need another CB, and we might as well go with another young guy with potential.

While, I nor anyone is particularly happy with Ginn, I do think he will be back next year. He will probably not be the #1, but speed kills and he has it. As a #2, or #3 or whatever, Teddy can still stretch the D and be a role playing WR on this team. I doubt the Ravens are going to just ooze over Ginn and offer up a 1st or a 2nd, or a 3rd for him. Saying just because Cam Cameron is the offensive coordinator doesn't mean squat as it refers to acquiring Ginn. He's a Dolphin, let him play, we just need to acquire a person to take that #1 role. Ted Ginn does make SOME plays from time to time. You all add like he's Todd Pinkston.

The sad thing about it is that the Todd Pinkston comparison rings true. It's not just size- look at Desean Jackson, pretty much the template of what Ginn should be. It's heart, hands, fighting for the ball, quickness, all that stuff. Ginn is getting criticized so harshly because at this juncture he deserves it, and he's hurting the team.

Running crisp routes and beating press coverage are just as key to getting open downfield as pure speed. Hartline looks to have very good technique and quickness, and that is why I do think he can make plays down the field.

Great example of that is Wes Welker...the man could run a sharp, crisp route. Despite not being the fastest guy out there.

Bess isn't fast, but can certainly get himself open.

BesS can't get open though... He's too slow. Wes Welker isn't the fastest guy in the world, but he would burn Bess any day of the week. Watch Bess more closely when he's out there. The guy doesn't get very good separation and he's not fast enough to do anything outside of 5 yards.

I don't get what the guy has done for everyone to love him... He's invisible most of the time for a reason.

Welker,as good as he is, couldn't be a number one. If you had him running deep routes all the time, his numbers would drop significantly.

Ginn needs a true #1 on the field opposit him. I so badly wanted the FO to go and get Bowe. Would have made Ginn very effective...perhaps much like Desean Jackson. Ginn could have been runnin short to intermediate routes, with chances at YAC, while Bowe was going deep, with the othr team's #1 CB covering him.
