Funny thing is, ironically, almost everyone, me included thought we would have the best.. Wilson brings down their level of play

The safeties didnt lose us this game. Even though we all know Wilson isnt playing very well this year. This was a collective failure of our team to step on their throats and its a problem thats been with us all year.

Really? So, when the entire sports bar is yelling "tackle him! TACKLE HIM!!!" What...we're just a bunch of stupid spectators that don't know football? Is that what I am supposed to get from this? Well, maybe so. Heck, I never played professional football, so I guess I have to give you the benefit of doubt. But, to me, a guy that has played football, it just looked like a really bad (lame really) play be a DB.

    JMHO...

I'm not going to comment on that. As I've said, show that play to a professional coach and see what he says. I'll bet you good money that he's going to say that this was one heck of a play by Wilson.

I am with Boomer and Vendigo on this one, both Wilsons and the rest of the secondary play kept us in this game! Wilson saved a touchdown on that play.

wilson stopped the td, but he could have done it 20 yards sooner, had he gone for the legs originally.

at least ive noticed that he does use his arms tackling more often now. i was getting sick of watching him bounce off receivers and letting them get passed him because he was trying to get the highlight reel hit.

Naw, you're way off. Gibril Wilson IS a poor tackler. You seem to think you know it all, well Wilson has a habit for tackling HIGH and a "good" tackler should tackle LOW, especially the smaller guys. How about the missed tackle on Reggie Bush that allowed them to get the first down instead of settling for the field goal?

You're kidding right? Gibril Wilson should have immediately went to tackle him low instead of playing "patty cake" with Shockey for 20 yards.

Do you have any idea how ridiculous this really sounds?

Your condescension throughout this thread was the same as in that Ginn thread where you told me that those that actually knew the game, saw that he was a top ten talent.

Now you're ripping people apart and trying to make a case for a guy who on HIS BEST DAY...............still looked terrible on too many occasions. He had a good first half and then went back to stinkin the place up. Nothing has changed, he's still one of the worst starting players on this team...

Being wrong is fine, being wrong and arrogant about it is like watching a comedy.

Well if that wasn't a highly pompous statement Boomer I don't know what is. To a degree you're correct about Wilson, but saying 90% of the board is stupid is utter non-sense.

Wilson did play better in coverage, and he did make a really nice play on the goal line on Bell to stuff him at at the 2.

But Shockey abused him. No, that was NOT a good play by Wilson, that was just painful. Yeah he managed to finally get the tackle, but he was outplayed, pure and simple. Is Shockey good? Definintely, but Wilson just folded and gave up the big play.

And he also let Bush get away on a big third down, that was pretty poor as well. Hes improving, slowly, but hes still more a liability than anything. I hope he can pick it up in half #2 because I dont think there are many options beside him.

And please dont bring up Sharper. Nobody did in the offseason, nobody should now.

The whole defense played a great first half and a horrible second half. Gibril had that one nice stop on Bell... but he got beat like a rented mule. AGAIN. I really respect Boomer's opinion. But why is his name involved in so many big plays against the defense seemingly EVERY week? He's always "right there," but he never makes the play.

the thing Wilson did was smart, yes everyone was probably pissed at the time but it worked out....

if Wilson tries to be aggressive while Shockey clearly is over powering him at the time with his hand he probably would have just stiff armed him and got away for the score.....Wilson can't tackle him because shockey is keeping him away so yes he could have went for his legs but if he takes a bad angle from trying to be to aggressive then he let's him score because no one is around. When he did make the tackle there were players around just in case...

I know what I'm talking about when it comes to football bud. I'm not blaming him for poor coverage but his tackling is atrocious. When we need him to make a critical tackle he wiffs it. Consistently. He sux!

I'm not blaming him for the coverage

i thought our secondary played well. they certainly did the best they're capable of. guys like nate jones and tyrone culver stepped up. and lets be honest, these aren't potential pro-bowlers.

in retrospect, I wish Shockey would have scored.. The Saints ended up scoring anyway and taking more time off the clock.. Had Shockey scored we would have had more time.

Wilson played well. Safety v.s. Reggie Bush is almost always a win for Bush. Wilson used a bend but dont break approach and I agree. He realized Shockey is bigger stronger and he made a smart play. Wilson and Bell together is not a smart move. We need one coverage safety.

Yeah, you think? How about the tackle he made on the same drive about 4 plays later that forced the aforementioned FG? Or did you forget that?

His reputation with the Giants was founded on solid tackling. I know this because I watched him play. Lots.

Dude, if you're happy with the quality of posting in this forum, then you go on ahead and lap it up.

If reading ill informed people talking about things they really don't know a great deal about then similarly, lap it all up.

    THAT is comedic.

You know what, you come prepared with a decent argument, with facts, with well thought out opinions, then we'll go at it like great friends and argue the toss. You sit and read through a load of illiterate nonsense like:

    "gerbil sux"

.....that doesn't hold a lot of sway with me. I'm not disagreeing with you on Wilson in the first 5 weeks. But I simply don't agree about the 'analysis' here.

    Capiche?

Also need a receivers coach, a kick returner, and maybe an inside 'backer.

The question is not whether this is so. It's self-evident. The question is, rather, whether we should draft or trade for the missing pieces next year. Parcells likes to build through the draft. Looking at how the Saints built that juggernaut I saw last Sunday, you have to consider that a lot of draft choices don't pan out, and maybe we ought to be more active in FA and trades.

I thought Wilson was solid through the first half and in the second half it was obvious that they were exploiting the middle of the field. I think our ILB's are partly to blame for that one.

So let me get this straight, he missed a tackle on a drive, then he made a tackle to force a FG on the very same drive. Well if he made the first tackle, would they have even gotten into FG range?

Everyone gets raped by Dallas Clark. And Tony Gonzalez is going to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Who else......we shut down Keller, the Bills. Antonio Gates is pretty damn good as well.

Lot of teams with better safeties than us get done by those three.
