The way I see it, we should pretty much have our pick of the litter in next years daft. Probably won't be a top 5 pick, but from what I've looked at, none of the top five players will be WR. I'm thinking we go either LB or WR, which ever is better.

Right now, WR is the Hot topic, so who are the best that will be available from 5-15? Is Dez Bryant the only first round WR?

Even if we do get a WR, they take time to develop. The three year rule is in effect.

I'd rather hit WR in FA.

Vincent Jackson all the way. He is a restricted free agent. I would gladly give up a pick to sign him.

Dez is the only guy worthy of an early pick by us. No one else matters.
If not, wait till the 3-4th round for Andre Roberts from Citadel. Gilyard would be nice if he drops in the 2nd round, but I'm waiting to see how Brennan Marion recovers before I think about grabbing a WR in his mold.

Not a big group of "non-possesion" WR's to choose from unfortunately. Hopefully some more will emerge, but right now it's bleak. Last year was the draft for explosive playmakers, however we passed on them all. LOL.

Our 1st and 2nd round picks (plus a player if needed) we saved by not getting Bowe to trade up and get Eric Berry?

Yes agree we should probably spend our first on our defense especially at safety,I just want to see them start Clemons before the season is over to see what we have in him.

Dez Bryant is far and away the best WR.

    Arrelious Benn (may come out)
    Brandon LaFell
    Mike Williams
    Eric Decker
Mardy Gilyard (probably not a #1 but very good)
    Are in the next tier.

    Then there are JRs like:
    Demayrius Thomas
    Keith Smith
Golden Tate (perhaps not #1, but very explosive)
    Dezmon Briscoe
    Terrance Tolliver

There are some more very good players, but not sure who at this point might be a #1, let alone come out for the draft.

PS: There is a whole draft forum for these type of questions.

    Well away from here
Find out who Ted Ginn is related to and then remove them from your draft board.

Anyone remember that Ginn is Chambers' cousin? Funny how things run in families, huh?

Jermaine Greshame. Not a receiver, but we need a pass catching TE.

I hope we could get a good WR through F/A so we can stock up this defense with young talent. Some of our defenders are getting up there in age.

dez bryant is by far the best prospect. a true playmaker type. there is quite a few receivers after dez that would be good value in the 2nd and later rounds

I don't care if it means Miami has to trade up, but Miami has to get a Dez Bryant-type talent. If it means you sacrifice later picks or some players, who cares @ this point? Its almost negligent that Jeff Ireland didn't address the WR position during the off season affectively. I know Brian Hartline and Patrick Turner are on the team and they're young but that isn't going to cut it in the NFL. If getting Dez Bryant means you have to give up next year's #1, give up next year's #1. Its that glaring of a need. Its worse than safety, which I know everyone wants to draft (i.e. Eric Berry).

No way would I trade two 1's for Dez. We need all our picks but we definetly need our 1st rounders. Besides there is no gurantee he is good in the NFL either. Also there our other WR's in the draft and Free Agency who could help. Hopefully we sign Lee Evans and spend our pic at ILB or Safety

It may be controversial, fine. I still say Miami has such a hole @ WR and I don't forsee an elite WR becoming available between now and the draft. Unless Larry Fitzgerald becomes a free agent, I don't think I'm being unreasonable.

ILB or Safety, really? Over WR. I vehemently disagree. Chris Clemons hasn't shown us that he's a best and Yeremiah Bell is still serviceable. If anything, Miami needs upgrades @ OLB/pass rusher. In the 2nd half, Miami couldn't get any pressure. An upgrade over Crowder and Ayodele would be a good idea, but not over WR, IMO.

We did not lose the game because of our WR's. Great defense will always win games and we are lacking a few players on defense. I think that if Dez is there when we pick great. I don't wanna trade up tho. I would be happy if we got someone else in the 2nd too. Besides next year is AJ Green and Julio Jones! No way I wanna go into there draft without a first

Golden Tate is a guy I really like. The few ND games I've watched, the guy is all over the field making plays. Picking him up in round 2, with a guy like Miles Austin could do us wonders.

Golden Tate is a JR and may not come out. It may depend on what Jimmy Clausen does.

He is having an amazing year though. He runs hard.

Runs hard, breaks tackles, has great hands.

I think he's leaving. Weis is one collapse away from looking for employment, Clausen has to come out with the rookie cap looming, IMO. I hope all of the above lead Tate to the NFL, more specifically, to Miami. :knucks:

I also want to pick Golden Tate in the 2nd round if he comes out. I watch a lot of Notre Dame games and this guy has great hands and he is tough. You can hammer him and he holds onto the ball.

I'd be happy with either of these guys.... if we add someone like D Ryan (LB texans) via FA that would allow us to address either TE OLB or FS with the 2nd round pick.

Is it the one against Michigan? He put up nice numbers against Donovan Warren and the rest of the Michigan DB's but he had like three drops that game, including two of them in the bread basket.

I'm not really sure at this point, honestly. The guy is often injured but he's always playing. I think he's only missed one game in his career before this recent foot injury. He's tough as nails and he's all taped together. Kind of like Anquan Boldin last year lol. I would imagine that NFL GM's and Scouts are going to have that concern with him but he almost always plays so it's tough to steer away from drafting him when he's still out there producing.

More I see of Leonard Hankerson, the more I think he might end up one as well.

not a WR but if we're looking at a pass catching TE then I would love to have Tony Moeaki out of Iowa, plays hard and may come cheap due to injury

Good question. With the premium placed on each of these positions right now and the lack of elite talent available, I'm thinking it doesn't hurt them too badly..... especially if it didn't greatly affect Crab, Cromartie, or Jonathan Stewart. A bit of law of supply and demand? If Dez doesn't get pushed out of the top WR spot, then I think he stays top 12, and I'd be shocked if Gresham lasted to the 2nd.

I think the NFL recognizes great talent and just says "Eh F it! He might start off at a disadvantage from this, but he's still Dez/Gresham." LOL. If Andre Johnson entered the NFL after missing most of his last college year (but now healthy), would he be any less of a stud than he is now? I don't think he would. But I could be way off. ;)

Also.... once Dez and Gresh are at the combine, scouts might completely forget they had problems this year. Maybe it helps Gresh bc no one can completely disect his Senior season or see him when he's NOT playing in the high octane offense from last year..... or without Bradford. ??????

From the mocks I've seen, I would guess that Bryant will still end up in the top 15 picks, probably top 12. And that Gresham will be taken in the 20 - 30 range.

Currently I think the Dolphins are slotted at pick #11.

And there's no way I'd take Spikes over Bryant.

A WR would improve our team more than a LB. It's about recognizing your weaknesses. We are a mid-level defense (13th in total defense) and one of the worst passing teams (26th in yards per game). And while our defense certainly needs improvement it is currently at the level of some past SB winners. Our pass offense is no where near the level of any past SB winners in the last 15 years. We're actually rated below where the Ravens were when they one in 2000.
