I have been hearing about next year being an uncapped year in the nfl? What does this mean and how will it affect our fins? If it is what I think it is then we are in for a year where the teams with the deepest pockets can afford the best players and free agents. Can one of you experts please enlighten me? GO FINS!! BEAT THE JETS!!
First of all Welcome! Here you go: http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d808736ba&template=with-video&confirm=true " AS you can see not much to it, really. Who wants to spend good money on scrubs?
There will not be a strike. There will possibly be a lockout. The effect of both is a work-stoppage, but the owners have yet to offer a new CBA. Posted via Mobile Device
I had believed the uncapped year would allow teams to dump under performing players with larger cap numbers. A team like the Raiders could dump J. Russel without cap hit.
I look at it like NorFlaFin in regards to being able to dump under performing players that would not be able to just flat out cut them due to the cap hit they would take. Without a salary cap, I see this being a big thing. Further, I think this would be a good chance for teams to lock-up young budding stars to long term deals and take a much bigger yearly salary in 2010 rather than give a huge bonus that gets prorated over the length of the contract. This will allow teams with big money llike Washington to do this. It would not work for teams with financial issues. It would also have to be players teams trust because as we all know, many of these players seem to take plays off once they have been paid.
With out a salary cap, I see the owners locking the doors. And for good reasons. These rookies and their agents have ruined the game. Unproven rookies getting 54 million with 22 guaranteed is outrageous. That kind of money should go to guys that have proven themselves season after season. Jokeland is sitting on a 52 million dollar bust. Jamarcus Russell is the worst QB in the league.
Not much if you want to maintain team chemistry. Going crazy will only make us the Redskins or even our team of 1995. So...it sounds great at first but in reality it isnt that big a deal unless there's a great WR out there or really any player that the Trifecta really likes that we can nab for X amount of dollars and our owner approves it.
There is a clause in his contract that states if the agreement won't be reached, the cotnract automatically extends for one more season for the same base pay. Something like that. Basically, no agreement = Ronnie staying in MIA for 2010.
