I'm not even sure why we are discussing Bar Scott, is not a factor in the field and is not the only big mouth player in the NFL.
what else should we "discuss"? we are playing these guys sunday.....in jersey....scott had 10 tackles last time we played....imo its valid.
I agree this is an actual big deal. The guy literally said he wanted to knock our QB out of the game. That is the opitamy of being a dirty player. This game is the players livelyhood. They have a very small amount of time (~10years) to make in impact and acquire financial security for the rest of thier lives. To literally say you want to "knock someone out of the game" is just apalling. This cannot be looked upon in good light by anyone in the NFL. Trash talk is one thing, saying something like "I'm gonna put Henne on his back all day" is absolutely fair game. Wanting to literally hurt a player and take away what he worked for is just malicious. He's an ***.
Funny, I would think a "second-year clown quarterback" would be the least of their problems in the game on Sunday. In fact, it might be beneficial for them to let Henne play the entire game. Heck, even Jet fans don't think Henne is a concern. I think Scott has the wrong guy. Now Ricky or Ronnie on the other hand...
Wanting to hit someone hard, and play some serious football is totally fine, and justified especially with this type of rivalry. I mean hell I expect our players to hit the Jets players just as hard. However, I'd be just as upset if Porter or Crowder turned around and said they want to hit Sanchez so hard he leaves the field. This isn't a gentleman's sport or anything, but basically saying you want to injure another player is uncalled for, and disgusting. You can argue the semantics all you want, but you're not going to get a starter QB off the field with much less than an injury. Especially as much of a billing as they're pumping Chad Henne up in the media as being a "tough" QB I don't expect much more than that from Jets players though unfortunately.
I'm actually glad Scott said this. That defenses' mouth continues to write checks their asses can't cash.
If that's your stance, then you're saying it's okay for the NFL to step in every single time Porter and Crowder open their mouths. They don't have to make a direct threat or have a history of being a dirty player, they just have to say something that can be construed that way. Is that fair? I'm not a fan of players running their yaps in the press, I'm not defending Scott in that regard, but he didn't say what folks are claiming. You mean this play? [ame="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xanhc0_bobsblitzcom-ravens-bart-scott-v-sa_sport"]Dailymotion - BobsBlitz.com: Ravens Bart Scott v Saints Reggie Bush - a Sports & Extreme video@@AMEPARAM@@http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/xanhc0@@AMEPARAM@@xanhc0[/ame] Hardly a dirty play by a player set out to purposely injure someone. Was his comment distasteful? Absolutely, but that wasn't a dirty play, it was hyperbole by a loudmouth after the fact. I did the google and the only thing posted is the recent story from here (and PFT) and Patsfans.com, which I hear is a garbage site according to Pats fans who have been there. Not exactly damning evidence brother.
?? i wasnt using it as "eveidence" my post was completley unrelated to our discussion (me and you) i was just mentioning the people reading this thread to check it out....i thought it was funny. unrelated bro as you see i said "do yourselves a favor" i see how you could have taken it differently though, thats why i didnt quote your post.
Yesterday, on NFLN, I heard Porter say practically the same exact thing as Scott about one of their players.(I forget which one). Try to catch a rerun or check it out on the site if they have it there.
He did say something similar about Mark Sanchez. They asked him about the hot dog thing and he said he hopes he can make that hot dog an ice pack for Sanchez to have on the sidelines.
Let him say what he wants. He'll come in the backfield and Polite will clean his clock for him....again.
Scott is so hyped up to get revenge, to take it out on our olineman or Henne, his brain is going to be scrambled with emotion. He won't be thinking straight. We handled him in the first game, we will do so again. There is no Jenkins in the middle to occupy one of our line man or a blocking back. He will again be a non factor. He doesn't have Ray Lewis any more to take away the attention, just as I thought would be the case when he came to NY. He should be more concerned with our defense getting to Sanchez, after how we got to Brees, behind a better line.
Thank you sir, but cnc gets all the credit for that. I'm just giving him his props by having it in my siggie.
Yes it is.......and if they were to threaten injury to another player it would be an embarrassment to the team. "I want to hit him and get him out of there." Well I don't think that means he wants to pat him on the but and whisk him away on a tropical vacation...lol "Out of there" = injured
Thankfully, being from New York, I don't cheer for that North Jersey trash. I was smart and became a Fins fan.
I with ya' there bro. My family has always been Giant fans, but I've been a Phin fan since I was like 4 or 5 years old.(don't ask why) My first year playing football in third grade, no one knew what number to take or what # is appropriate for what position. So, since I was already into football and already a die hard Phin fan, I went around and gave most of the team the #s of the Dolphin players. (from the 70's team due to the time it was.). Most of us used those #s for the rest of our years playing football. The Jets have always been the enemy. I remember being a little kid sitting and watching those awesome, crazy Phin/Jet games. Despite either teams records, they have always been crazy games. They seem to always play each other tough. I never minded the Giants. Different division, etc. In the 80's, they used to practice in NY, up north from me a bit and I got to meet Parcells! Wooo!..and LT, Carson and those guys. It still didn't thrill me like if it were Miami guys, but it was pretty cool. Carson was a real nice guy. It was great to meet the man Parcells. If I only had any idea he would end up being one of our head cheeses. Anyway..sorry, I felt like rambling a bit. Peace!
Yeah, well it was a little past the 70s team's heyday,(superbowls, etc.) but their indelible impression was still left on me. I always wanted to plow people over like the Czonk. I am getting up there though. Though I bet I can still out run you punk.....(just messin') ....and what are you talking about? When I was your age all I did was party and get laid. TGIF mofo! Peace bro!
If you read sceeto and Rocky's post, Porter did just that. But my point was less direct. If Porter or Crowder were to say about Mark Sanchez "We're not going to even let him get going out there", a Jets fan hyped up on the rivalry could say "Hey, they're threatening to hurt our boy out there!" and then alert the NFL, when in reality Porter and Crowder could be making the point that the defense isn't going to let the Jets offense get into a rhythm. Would it be fair for the NFL to police Porter and Crowder for those comments? Where is the line in the sand where reasonable people say "it's just players hyping themselves up"? Should the NFL set up a special task force to monitor all comments from all over the league and go through them with a fine tooth comb and a critical ear? At what point do we say "they're grown men, enough is enough"? What I'm getting from your comments is the verbal version of the Brady rule, say anything that can be construed as hurtful (even if it isn't meant to be) and you'll get fined. That isn't the NFL, that's highschool football IMO, where everyone gets a trophy even if they lose.....err.....win second place. Not necessarily injured, it could mean getting the wind knocked out of him. It could mean sacking him and letting the Jets offense control the clock with Henne on the sidelines, it could mean alot of things. Again, you have to look at his history, he isn't a Rodney Harrison who has a history of being a dirty player. The Reggie Bush "incident" that was mentioned earlier really was nothing more than a guy making distasteful comments after the fact, again I'm not defending Scott as a person or his actions, but his comments don't support the intent to injure case that you guys are trying to make.
Anybody who saw Pace's late cheap hit that put Trent Edwards on the shelf for several games, IMO can't write off threats like these as typical pre-game rhetoric. It was a flagrant egregious penalty that should have been easily called and result in some serious punishment.. and in fact, you just know that it would have, if Tom Brady was the victim. When thuggery like this goes unpunished, it only further emboldens the offenders! And that's the mindset that fatso is cultivating. Should we take this threat seriously? Hellyeah! I emailed Goodell yesterday and copied a number of the local sports media usual suspects saying as much, asking that Chad's afforded the same protection Brady usually gets and demanding that any resulting injury unless 100% clean should result in severe Jest fines and season-impacting suspensions.
If Calvin Pace hurts Chad Henne like he did Trent Edwards, epspecially after the play, I may have to buy tickets to the next Jets home game, bring my gas mask so I dont have to smell that nasty $hit once I reach Jersey, and egg that juice head when they walk into or out of the stadium. I'd gladly get kicked out of Giants Stadium for a sportscenter moment! They're tearing it down anyway, wouldn't mind getting banned from that $hit hole.
I'm from NY and have been a dolphins fan since the early 80's it's pretty pathetic how the JETS are even called a NY team considering they play in Dirty Jersey and moved to Jersey to avoid NY taxes I HATE when the Jets and Giants get called NY I always just say they are NOT a NY TEAM gives us NYers a bad name. I will be at the game tomorrow rooting for our fins!!!
