saying it outright is one thing.

saying it in response is another.

I'm more worried about Jabba the Rex trying to snatch a hot dog from Sanchez and ripping Sanchez's arm out of socket.

They shouldn't want to hurt anyone. Hit 'em hard yes, injure no. Joey gets pissed off easily though so you should expect that since his was a response to Scott. Why cant they just say something like, "I want to knock his a$s down and make him wish he wasn't playing us." I love this rejuvenated heated rivalry and the barbs going back and forth, but dont have to talk about hurting players, especially ones who don't run their mouth. Henne and Sanchez are both pretty laid back.

Honestly and i'll be non-partial here, both Scott and Porter are underperforming for their respective teams. Porter better get a forced fumble this week. He did good last week, he needs to do great here. Shutup and make a game-changing play first like you're supposed to, then talk all you want. And I don't even think Scott has more tackles than Gibril Wilson does.

That was an answer and a needed one...you threaten at teams QB with injury it needs to be known paybacks are possible... Thats just Porter looking out for his own HUGE difference.

    Scott has 31...Wilson has 33..

But it is not good when your 2 leading tacklers are safeties

    wilson has 39, actually.

and we run a quarters scheme to which S's making tackles isn't a bad thing at all. in fact if our CB's have more tackles than our S's we've got problems.

that's the whole reason we went out and got Wilson to play alongside Bell.

Supposedly he fit the scheme well. There's a thread around here somewhere.

FTR no one should be hurt playing a game

read the initial post, not much after.

i believe that any unit of a team

    Oline
    Dline
    RB
    LB
    DB
    WR

take time to develop together. usually an oline isn't so great and they need time to gel. same thing I believe could be said about DBs

we now have 2 rookies, and 1 vet coming from another team. the only mainstay we have back there who has stayed is YB.

Wilson dropped one INT that was a very hard catch towards the sideline during one game.

    I'm still giving him time...

i think porter did a good job of making it clear that he didnt want to "seriously" injure him, hence the icepak. where as scott was much more reckless with his comments. but i mean, no jet players have to answer for their comments. they have a coach who talks non stop trash. their players can do or say whatever they want.

99% of what you hear out of Miami is, "we do our talking on the field."

If I were the NFL I'd fine both their asses and remind them that they are well paid, professional athletes and need to quit acting like common street thugs.

I'm pretty sure Porter was just throwing out a response to what Scott said but that doesn't make it any less of an embarrassment to the Fins organization.

Someone running their mouth to the press has never done anything to win a football game.....leave that crap for the locker room.

My message to Porter is that you don't play for the Jets..........you play for an organization with class, act like it.

With an icepack? Really? Anyone who thinks this is a big deal should seriously find a different sport to watch. Maybe World Series of Poker on ESPN The ocho.

Awwww he hurt Nacho Libre's feelings. :(

It was classless when Scott said it and its no less so coming from a Dolphins player. I hope the league fines them both and puts an end to this nonsense.

No its not. "But.... But.... He started it", doesnt and never has worked for me.

Stupid move by Porter and I hope Tony has a little chat with him that goes something like "Please shut the F up. Now." There is no reason for the game to degrade into stuff like this and all Porter is going is giving them amo. This does nothing to help us win Sunday at all.

Jet fans are hilarious right now, don't ya'll have some issues with your franchise qb?..like what if its gusty come sunday, lol..iam sure you guys have a link to the weather channel on your website by now no?

And the fact that your punk *** qb pulled out the mustard packet on the sideline...aint he man enough to eat that dog on its own...

I really loved the shot of your franchise sitting on the bench two weeks ago after throwing 5 picks, lol...awwww, he looked like a cute little boy, with his hand on his face sittin on the bench staring ever so off in the distance....

Have you heard your hometown boy Phil Simms talk about Henne and Sanchez....

Henne is a man...your boy is a boy.

Wow Dol-fans, this is just sad. Whether in retaliation or not, Porter implied he wants to injure their qb, just like Bart Scott did about Chad Henne. Just a couple of days ago some Dol-fans were hysterical about Bar Scott's comments and now the general consensus is "he started it"?

Bottom line, Porter said he wanted to hurt Sanchez to the point where he is on the sidelines, just like Bart Scott. I'm going to end it there because I realized on the Phins forum, even if the Phins are wrong themselves, we cannot be called out. Opposing team does/say something, its us against the league....we do the same thing and its all good.

The difference here that no one has mentioned is that we beat Bart Scott's jets on MNF in a big way. His feelings are hurt so he want to talk more ****. The problem is that if you lose, you are no longer entitled to talk **** (Greenmachine) ;).

This is Joey Porter, and even though its childish and you shouldnt say that you want to injure someone, this is football + entertainment. Additionally, coming from Porter, this will make HIS defense play alot harder come tomorrow. Hopefully we sweep the Pets and we can have a full year of **** talking all to ourselves for once.

It's not good when your head coach and key defensive players refuse to stop making jackasses out of themselves. If they get swept will they take that like men or continue whining nonstop? And Sanchez with an icepack doesn't necessarily mean he's out of the game with an injury, I'm not claiming to know what Porter was thinking but it was likely a kneejerk response to what Scott said.

gotta agree with you here GM......i started the thread bashing scott.....and i wont defend porter on this one. this is a game of professional players.....there is no need to hurt anyone. everyone in the long run has the same goals.....beat them fair and square....but injuring someone (un purpose) is absurd.

Sometimes we all overract, but what's important is admitting it once we calm down.

I know because I've lost it in threads, been put on ignore, then apologized later and it was all good.

I don't like seeing everyone getting dragged down into the muck this way.

We need Chad Pennington's level-headedness at times like these.

    Porter running his mouth...again. Figures.

Man, when did things get so out of hand? Players talkin' trash days leading up to a big game. If words was tackles these guys would be future HOF's. Used to be you never heard any of this stuff. (not saying it didn't happen or wasn't said). Guys just went out on Sundays and let their play do the talkin'. Czonka never talked trash that I'm aware of.

Of course, the media magnifies this stuff now a days like nobody's business. Bet a guy can't fart without it being tweeted, twittered or whatever. 'Nough already! And, it ain't entertainment. It's football! Strap 'em on, sinch 'em up and go bust some f***ing heads for cryin' out loud. Play fiar, but play hard. And, don't say you're gonna take the opposing team's QB out...just freakin' do it!

    But, do it clean. :wink2:

I agree that Porter's comments are not as bad as Scott's but it's still wrong. I take pride in being a Dolphins fan because the organization does it with class and let their play do the talking. Let the Jets talk all the trash they want, they did it last time we played them and we abused them all over the field, and I'm going to enjoy doing it again.

Just stop. Just stop.....You and I both know he meant to have him injured in retaliation to Bart Scott's comments. I respect you, so please respect me. Don't play dumb. Please stop playing the "no one on our team is wrong" card. Guaranteed you did not over-analyze Scott's comment and gave him the benefit of the doubt like you are with Joey Porter, a HUGE trash talker.

Meh, he said hurt with an icepack.

Hurt = Can still play (while defense is on field, he has icepack instead of hotdog)
    Injured = You can't play

I think players have always had trash talk.
I know in an interview Zonk did many years ago, he talked about the trash talk, threats, eye gouging, twisting the helmet, knees on the helmet etc. when guys were down. He said the refs couldn't see or hear all that happened in a pile.
He also said they always (the announcers) said he was slow getting up, but he said he would just lay there and rest.

IMO, the players can talk, then go out and play hard and fair. But nothing intentional to actually do harm to another.
BUT coaches, who are supposed to be the team leaders and the face of the franchise, should keep quiet. It only makes them look like idiots along with their team.

And being a Dolphin fan, of course, I hold nothing against JP or CC talking, their on MY team.:wink2:

    GM,

We all know Porter loves to talk trash. I have heard him say a ton of stuff about how hes going to beat the other team, doesn't have respect for team or player X. This is the first time (I can remember) him saying he was going to actually go out to hurt a player. So that leads me to believe its was just a response to what Bart said. Now while I can't condone what Porter I will use a Line from Chris Rocks Bit on OJ Simpson, "I Understand".

Its one thing to talk trash when you are able to back it up with your play and I really don't care what the Jets say cause they aren't my team. If you're so BAD, show me, cause so far I ain't seen nothing!:wink2:

As for our man Joey, as other members have said "He's writing checks he's not covering." As A Dolphin fan I say "Joey just shut up and let your play do the talking." So far he's more talk than do!:pity:
