The boy has 10 games to prove that he belongs in this league. I really don't think 1 or 2 good games is going to help him one bit. I think he is going to have to show in EVERY game that he can play or he will being wearing a different uni next season and it might not say NFL on it.

I'm sure plenty of people disagree with Bob's approach to things, as he has done in the past, including Jason Taylor:

I'll take the old fashion guy anyday over these bunch of wussies. Jason Taylor has been a great player for the Miami Dolphins, but the old timer is were it is at.

He belongs in the NFL. There are plenty of other WRs on other teams who are less talented, less accomplished, and not as good as Ginn.

While Ginn may not ever be a #1, he does belong in the NFL. Even if his role is more limited than what it's been in the past.

This thread is going to turn into a Ginn bashing thread very soon, so I'm out:up:

I'm pretty sure that some teams hope he gets cut. He'll be working in the NFL again pretty fast if he's kicked to the curb by Miami.

He may not last 3 more yrs but with his speed, someones going to try to use him and make him into something.

I know when I was younger, I always looked to the older people, the ones who'd been there done that, to learn from.

He may say some harsh or even stupid things but he was one helluva player in his day and he was actually on a team that accomplished the ultimate goal.

That's reason to look to OJ and Duper (for example), but Bob never played WR in the NFL. He doesn't have a foot to stand on IMO when talking about that position.

    Yep

Duper made a good point that Ginn has not had a vet to learn from. Yes there is a receiver coach but whatever he is doing isn't working on Ginn. A guy like Duper could have good advice and even practice techniques for Ginn. Just because he isn't a coach doesn't mean he doesn't have knowledge Ginn could benefit from. On the other hand Ginn may simply not have what it takes to be an NFL receiver.

The vets complaints are pretty much dead on about Ginn. It's a tough sport. If he can't be tough and focus he should not be playing in the NFL and getting that kind of money. He still has potential but he is running out of time fast. He should still get game time but not on 3rd down critical plays till he stops playing like a frightened child. If he doesn't grow up then Miami needs to accept that an expensive mistake was made and eliminate it to move on. All jobs have consequences for not doing whats expected of you consistently, so should Ginns.

Why not? Coaches critique their players all the time and they could specialize in another area right? Like Sparano coached the Oline and I'm pretty sure he didn't need to watch any film before coming to the conclusion that Ginn's struggled. Of course he would say things differently that Kuechenburg but ....

He didn't just say Ginn's struggled. He said he's never even seen the ability for Ted to play WR. That tells me he doesn't know what he's talking about, or rarely watches anything.

If he simply said he was struggling, I would agree.

Of course even at Kuech's age Ginn dare not tell him like you just did thats for sure...

He may be off the wall with his comments but he's still been there, done that and is a borderline HOF player and maybe not being inducted is why he's like he is. I don't know, nor did I say he's right. I meant some of these older dudes are where some of these younger dudes should learn thats all and if Ginn could use those harsh words are fuel, he could get the last laugh and tell him to shut up with his play.

That's probably true, but the way he's used, how much he's used and the value of his next contract is riding on his play on a game to game basis now. His developmental days are over.....not saying he won't or can't improve any, but this is show time for Ted.

See I've been on the Ginn bandwagon since he was drafted. Not like I was doing backflips over him being drafted but I'd always said he could learn to be good to great.

But there were a bunch who said just that from the beginning. That Ginn sucked and had never showed them anything.

Now I would debate them tons but I would never tell them they were so wrong and did not know what they were talking about and its a good thing because so far they're FAR more correct than me. Right>?

I was just getting ready to make the same point, Ozzy. Duper's also helped others I believe and while he isn't listed as a coach in his occupational status, he is indeed a teacher and he taught Hankerson how to catch the ball.

You know, you're kind of right. It's kind of unfair for Kuechenberg to call anyone out as being a coward, because compared to him the numbers of cowards number in the billions.

If you remember Kooch breaking his arm and using his cast to club people, you know you're never going to get him to shut up about how he feels.

i find it hard to believe the university of MIAMI recruited this kid to play receiver without knowing how to catch a ball...............

sure he may have helped him.....specifically......doesnt mean he will get to ginn the same way, i dunno if he has a the certification to reach someone with a learning disability.....maybe he can level with him, maybe he cant....my entire issue with this whole thing is making it public.

oj (one of my fav players ever), kooch, duper......all of them....could have kept it quiet, and talked to whoever they needed to within the organization to get to ginn.....doing it to the douchbags at the miami herald.....(who already writen swayed BS ginn stories with no evidence behind them).....adds more fuel to the fire....which imo is entirely bull****.

With due respect to BK, those are harsh and maybe too severe words to utter about a current Dolphin player. Doesn't do much for his confidence and all it does is create animosity amongst current/fomer Dolphins. Now if Ginn was indeed offered help by Duper, assuming he got the message and chose to ignore, shame on him.

    Just my 2cents.....

    I guess since i don't have a game today, i guess i'll be watching Dolphins/Jets

Isn't the NFL ticket grand!!! Good luck y'all...

I don't see how anybody can say that Bob Kuechenburg is not qualified to speak on the subject. Specifically the subject of toughness. If there were ever a tougher SOB that played.... And alligator arms? What qualifications do you need to see that a guy is short-arming passes? Or that when he got the end around last week he steps out 3 yards before the first down marker?

As far as ability goes, you've had Mark Duper, O.J. McDuffie, Joe Rose, Jimmy Cefalo, Jim Mandich.....guys that ran routes and caught passes for a living.....saying the guy isn't cutting it. That he still doesn't run good routes. That he's showing poor technique catching the ball (this is an area he's regressed in since his rookie year). If Bob ain't qualified to speak on that, his fellow alumni most certainly are.

Maybe he shouldn't have spoken to Barry Jackson when asked about it. But that doesn't mean he's not 100 percent right.

As for Leonard Hankerson, we all know there are players at every level that struggle to catch the ball. He was one of them. Duper worked with him over the summer and he's pretty much overcome it.

Ginn would do well to work with Duper.

Ever think he doesn't want to coach? Players know that coaching is an 80-90 hour a week job. They've already had that grind in their life and are retired. Few want that the rest of their lives under that pressure.

And, what you are saying is that since Nat Moore is not a WR guru that Duper shouldn't have listened to him? Sorry, that argument doesn't fly.

The point is - that Ted really does need to look at things differently.

I have no problem when players who themselves were extremely successful call out another player who is failing - and much of it is mental.

Ginn needs to realize that his family is in Miami - not Ohio - when it comes to football and these are guys who can help toughen him up. These are guys who weren't always the most talented (Kooch, McDuffie) or who were very blessed with speed (Duper, Morris) - but the key ingredient they had was a desire to work their butts off and lay it on the line every play. They weren't perfect but they learned how to play the game.

Just as Duper listened to Nat Moore and that made him a better player; he can pass things on to Ted about the game. Not technical things with the DOlphins offense (that's the coaches) but just how to be a professional at that position.

If Ted isn't listening - that may well be a pride issue that he needs to let go of. Hard to do - but essential to be the best player.

Even the Don thinks Ginn should not be benched.

To me, the problem with Ginn is he has no "risk=reward" curve, he can screwup and he risks nothing, that is why I think his time at Wr should be contingent on the manner he returns kicks and punts.

difference is.....moore was playing when duper arrived.....now iam speaking as a young guy....almost the same age as ted ginn....these guys who are talking all this stuff....played 20 years ago. when ted and i were in diapers.

im not saying its right, but what goes the head of a 20-something yr old when advice (expecially backhanded advice) is given to him from his elders?

    "what do they know?"

"kooch played against d-linemen who are the size of free safetys/linebackers these days"

"i wasnt even born when kooch played"

"wish i had marino throwin me the ball"

    blah blah blah

its dumb, and he should listen (like i said before) but that might be whats goin thru his head. im sorry.....but because they played for the dolphins they have a right to come out publicly and trash a current player? no.

thats bs.....i dont care how tough you were 30 years ago......what team you played for......if you ate nails before games.....its not your spot to come out bashing....(and it was bashing).....a current player. but thats my opinion.

Jackson must have walked up to these guys when they were already three sheets to the wind. I mean it must have been late in the evening when these questions were asked.

I can see it now all these former greats hanging out, drinking and over comes Jackson..........."so hey guys what do you all think about Teddy Ginn?" One guy starts and the rest pile on.......

Hartline has more chemistry with Henne, in fact the trifecta brought Henne with them to work out WRs before the draft, and Henne had high praise for Hartline.

I think he's just pissed that the HOF keeps passing on him

To me, and this probably inartful, "but" Ginn is asked about this should tell them to go pound sand where the sun don't shine.

A player, a good player, has to have that sort of confidence, they should never let themselves become a door mat for whomever, no matter their resume'.

"They said that? Well screw them, watch what happens this Sunday"

Hankerson struggled quite a bit catching the ball last year. He's much different this year and he looks very good IMO.

As for Ginn, he may not get him at the same level but if he's had success teaching then dammit, why not give Ginn a shot to make his issues disappear as well or at least lessen them?

I don't blame ginn for not accepting the help. If duper really wanted to help he wouldn't need to tell anyone. He would just offer to help and let that be the end of it. But instead he's telling reporters. Obviously theres no loyalty there, so why let him help you if you can't trust the guy to keep whats going on between just you and him. On top of that you have to wonder whats dupers motivation. I'd stay as far away from that as possible if I were ginn.

True, that's a good point. However, I'd be interested in seeing how many former players or current players Ginn's reached out to, to get help from on his pass catching skills. I'm not criticizing Ginn, partly because I don't know the whole situation between him and the rest of the Dolphins alumni, but I hope he can become the best player that he can be, which is why I ask who he's contacted.
