This is why you need to hold your players accountable.

You bench their butts and put them through fire, so they can stand up, WAKE UP, and win their job back.

Good job Ginn. But you still had 0 receptions though.

That quote illustrates how we as fans go too far sometimes.

At the end of the day, he's a human being. I think we forget that sometimes and treat them like objects.

well, with Bess dropping one huge pass and fumbling twice, im not sure keeping ginn off the field on offense is the right move.

oh god......all the WRs sucked. no one more than the other.....the entire offense was terrible. maybe it was cause ginn wasnt out there? who knows.....

but using one of our players negatives, to try to somehow make it a positive for another player is kind've ridiculous....

just as ridiculous as saying ginn lost games all on his own.

Ginn was benched because he wasn't performing. I expect the player that replaces him to perform. He didn't do any better.

I totally agree. I am glad he had his day at redemption, because I had the feeling that if he did not get back in there and make some plays, it could have spelled disaster for him the rest of the season (from a mental standpoint).

As fans, we can sometimes be a little too down on a player. We never realize that these guys have to deal with criticism on a level no one here could even imagine. I mean, being called out on ESPN on national TV because you made a mistake in your craft? It's pretty harsh stuff.

I'm glad he had a great day. It can only help Miami (who is having issues moving the ball) if he gives them good field position. Having to go 60 yards instead of 80 could pay dividends.

Our lack of running game and a lackluster performance by the OL, pretty much made throwing down field a pipe dream.

Hartline did get behind the DB's on the first series and was over thrown.....why is this important? Because it's something his detractors said he couldn't do, that ONLY Ginn could do.

Our OLINE was terrible this game. Henne had no time to throw, got sacked 6 times, and overthrew Hartline when he was open

Is it possible that the Jets were able to stop the run easier because Ginn wasn't on the field? Perhaps Ginn contributes without making catches.

If that's Ted Ginn on that play, he catches the ball and catches up to it, IMO. Hartline's borderline speed really showed on that play.

Im not the guy who blames a win or a loss on one guy.
Ginn got ALOT of that after the Colts game, and even after the Saints game.
If you go out and flat out say that he lost those games, you gotta be fair and say that he flat out WON this one, no?

Hence the IMO in my original statement.

I think the Henne overthrow is a result of working with Ginn and not with Hartline as well ... in time those will become completions. Henne probably had his worst game as a starter today.

True, but just like in the Bills game, some of that is from him holding the ball too long. Love Henne, so this is not a knock! It's just he's young, and he has to learn how to deal with some of this pressure better. Throw the ball away, etc.

But in the meantime, I'd rather him take the sack then throw a dumb pick. But it will mean inflated sack numbers, as we're seeing.

I really like that response. I hope he plays with a chip on his shoulder. This is how Steve Smith got started. He came into the league and every single GM told him "you're only going to be a kick returner at best in this league" and he was one. A pretty damn good one. And the he became arguably the best wideout in the league.

NOTE: Not saying Ginn will be Steve Smith-esque.

I have seen it before but it amazes me how fast he is in the open field. It crazy to see him walk away from an NFL DB that had an angle. Hopefully he get more confidence and starts running routes better and becomes a better wr, man that would do wonders for this team.
    Way to go Ted

    Hartline did it exactly once

And as Boomer pointed out in his Lowering the Boom thread, Ginn would have been under that ball to Hartline rather than a few yards behind it, that's what separates Ginn from the rest of our WR's.

One obvious parallel is that it took Smith until his 3rd year to really break out, he didn't come right into the league and succeed at WR. It takes time for some WR's to find their game and refine it, not everybody is Jerry Rice.

yeah you don't bench a player unless you think you have something better behind him. ginn was benched because hartline was supposed to be the better. I'm not going to hate on hartline as he's a rookie, but it is what it is.

Ginn is better than all the other guys, Bess has fumbled more often Ginn doesn't fumble and please Hartline, give me a break.
Bess the last 3 games has been a real problem, against the saints the catch they couldn't replay was not a catch.

Or.........Teddy runs one of his typically poor routes and he's blanketed

Sorry bro but it's just speculating........not to mention you're reaching here by saying it was Hartline's lack of speed that caused the over throw. Especially when that "lack of speed" got him behind the Jets D to begin with.

Yeah but Smith is also more aggressive. I'm not bashing Ginn here, simply stating the obvious IMO. Smith has always a very aggressive WR. I think a lot of it has to do because he has anger management and he holds grudges; he doesn't let things go. Smith takes criticism and uses it as a motivational factor. Ginn has done that this week but he needs to continue to use it. Take the quotes from the Dolphin alumni's and post it in your locker room. Right it on your wrist bands or your cleats and use it to motivate you and piss you off.

Btw, Ginn and Smith comparison through their first seven weeks of their third seasons.

    Smith - 29 receptions, 385 yards, 3 touchdowns.
    Ginn - 18 receptions, 211 yards, 1 touchdown.

smiths like adrian peterson, he plays angry. peterson will be better though in the long run, if he stays healthy, merely because ap knows how to control his anger. theres nothing wrong with a player being laid back, i.e. see ricky and ronnie.

And one obvious difference is that Steve Smith has never once in his life been considered a soft WR........that and the bunch of receiving TD's thing

I don't think there's anything wrong about being laid back, I just think you have to play angry. Ricky's always ran through people and Ronnie has done the same for us here, looking for defensive backs to plow over. Ronnie Brown seems to have some kind of sick attitude out there -- he blasts you and then he grins/smiles lol. It's great. Ricky always been laid back but he's got a nasty stiff arm and he also plows through others.

Steve Smith uses past criticisms to his advantage. When coaches told him he couldn't be more than a punt returner, he said "hell no" and now look at him. When a team rolls coverage over in his direction, he beats the jam, catches the ball and makes you pay with yards after contact/catch. He's basically saying that you can't stop him. When Jake Delhomme throws interceptions like a flower girl throws flowers at a wedding, Smith gets pissed off and then when he gets the opportunity to make a play, he makes it. Did you see the sideline sitting between Delhomme and Smith a couple weeks back? Delhomme commits a turnover and goes to the bench. Smith sits down next to him and goes "you're a great guy, I love you man but I don't like you as my quarterback". Delhomme just kind of sits there and stares at him and goes "ok".
