So because someone gets drafted they won't be cut? hmmmm I don't think thats right so yet again Where did I say he would not be drafted?
i think that cj spiller would be a great addition depending on his draft place also jonathan dwyer would be good to have because he has experience with option offense and not to mention he is a beastly strong back i have to find out who is coming out next year, who do you think we will take in the first round? and what pick does anyone think we will likely have?
Being that there is probably going to be a rookie cap in 2011 i expect to see just about every stud draft eligible soph and Jr to come out.
I think we'll be picking anywhere between 10 and 16. As for who we take, it's too early to tell but Alabama's ILB Rolando McClain fits what these guys look for. However, they've also stated that they want a more explosive offense so if Dez Bryant drops to them that's an option. I think we'll have Arrellious Benn available to us and I'm still mixed on him.
Watched some back to back FSU last night. See why Chris likes Christian Ponder this year. He's much more confident in his own ability this year. I see a leader in him that I didn't see a year ago. He lit up Georgia Tech and his against North Carolina he threw so many balls in stride. FSU is bereft of talent. Patrick Robinson I like at CB though. He has day 1 potential; good closing speed, will tackle and plays the ball well. For North Carolina, I've long liked Quan Sturvidant, but came away much more impressed with Bruce Carter who looks like a possible first rounder IMO and Marvin Austin who had the big boy pants on. If he can be week in and week out consistent, then he goes top 12.
I think he's talented but he's been hampered by injury and poor quarterbacking. However, I still want to see more of him because I'm not sold yet. He can make some plays after the catch and he's a willing blocker but I want to see him run more routes and I'd like to see him stretch the field more. I wonder about his quickness. He's a bit like Boldin IMO.
That was the first time I've watched Spiller and he has absolutely screamed to me "NFL". He ran with authority, power and balance...in addition to that red hot speed. That's Chris Johnson type ability. I had been more onto the bigger guys but Spiller has what it takes. My #1 back in the draft thus far...depending on who comes out.
Ummmm..... not completely positive that's a fan favorite. You sure you're not confusing us with the team that actually lets a Bowden linger around. I'll check just in case though. What chest size? 3-4?....ooops, I mean 54? LOL
I asked a few weeks ago with no reply, but has anyone seen Anthony McCoy play? He is big bodied with soft hands and plays for a big program. I saw him make a great leaping catch up the seam against Notre Dame two weeks ago and he seems to be rising up draft boards. Is he a possibility for the Fins? Where is he projected to go? Do any of the gurus have anything to add about this guy?
Sorry no one replied, SJ. I would help you if I could but I've got like five games of the guy and haven't watched one yet; though I plan on doing so as soon as possible. I'm working my way around what I have recorded. As for the gurus, PM Conuficus, CK, KB or Boomer (or he could answer your post above lol) and they should get you their thoughts pretty quickly.
The comments here have me excited about watching CJ. I've watched highlights on Youtube but those are mostly of him running in space. I believe that you have to watch a back running through contact to ascertain his NFL potential.
Hey Raf, keep in mind he has a pretty mediocre line blocking for him and a 31 year old OC who is VERY wet behind the ears. Note how much confidence he plays with on the field.... and if Clemson falls behind, watch how he takes his game to another level as if he had literally just taken a shot of adrenaline (like Jason Statham in Crank). He did it a few weeks ago vs MD, last week vs UM, the punt return vs Nebraska, and the KO return vs Bama to name a few. He very openly respects everyone on the field, but is all over a player the second he's f'd with. His field presence is unreal..... and good luck seeing a punt or KO anywhere near him. You have the fastest guy in the country at WR (Jacoby Ford) next to him who's developing nicely, so I'll be curious as to your thoughts. Posted via Mobile Device
Thought this was very interesting and thought I would pass it along; apparently the word around the Ole Miss campus is that the reason Jevan Snead has struggled so much this year is because of three things -- he battled the flu earlier this season, he has been lacking confidence according to sources there (I think this is definitely true; IMO he struggles with pressure) and third, he's struggled grasping the playbook.
Wow.... if that's the case, you can't have the leader of an NFL team with a lack of confidence. If he's having trouble at Ole Miss, then he's in for a rude awakening next year.
Baylor's center J.D. Walton is the top rated Center by many NFL teams and today he goes up against Ndamukong Suh. Should be a helluva match up. There's also Phil Taylor, the 355 pound NT of Baylor, who is rising up boards very quickly and Jordan Lake, the safety.
Willie Young and Owen Spencer really impress me on NC State. Anyone know if Owen Spencer might declare or will he come back for his senior year? Doug Pilcher from Illinois is really impressing me today
I haven't watched Young yet this year but last year he was not impressive. Very inconsistent and sometimes disappeared. Haven't seen Spencer yet so I got nothing. EDIT: Also, Syracuse tight end Mike Owens is one helluva blocker. He's playing some H-Back and inline tight end for Syracuse. Used mainly as a blocker and for good reason. He walls off and seals the edge very well when blocking ends. Last, Arthur Jones is simply a monster. I think he needs to work on maintaining leverage consistently but he's explosive, great arm over move, quick off the LOS, can make plays on his feet laterally and he's even done some dropping. Very impressive. I think Disgustipate brought him up as a possible option for this team in 2010 and that's a great call on Pate's part. I can see it, if they think NT is a high priority which it may or may not be, depending on how much comfort level they have with Soliai and maybe even Dotson. Jones has played some 0 and 1 technique in a 3-4 alignment and he's also lined up in the three technique.
dont go by last year with willie young. completely different player IMO. Check out a NC State game before the season ends. I think you'll be impressed. Seems like a good prospect for 3-4 OLB for us. Maybe he lasts until 3rd?
I usually don't go by the past and try to get an update with each player I've watched but nothing so far this year with NC State. I'll make sure to get one though, now that you mention it. Thanks man. As for his projection, I've read and heart he's a top 90 pick so maybe.
lol. scouting troy tonight. seem to ahve some defensive players. of course louisiana monroe looks like they have noone this year
I love Arthur Jones and he is in my top 5 I named in my early wishlist post. I think he is going to push up in the mix for the second dtackle taken and like him better than McCoy
I like Jones a lot but not more than McCoy. Brandon Lang is the name to watch as well as Boris Lee. Lee has a ton of heart. Last year lost 20 pounds because he was ill and played his *** off the entire year.
brandon lang seemed the best of the bunch. looks like he has the tools but was hoping for more domination from him. boris lee is pretty fast it seemed. cameron sheffield also played alright. but none of them really floored me. lang probably the best but i want to see him in the all star games befofre i get excited. aaron morgan on louisiana montroe isnt worth a draft pick imo/ lang maybe a 3rd if he impresses in the all star games/ sheffield, lee and brown might be worth 7th rounders
I've watched Lang two years now and I think he's a quality player. Very fluid dropping, quick off the snap and doesn't do a bad job setting the edge. He's also very instinctive. I could see him going second round. As for Morgan, he's worthy of late rounds IMO. Very quick off the edge but he's very inside conscious and he is easily pushed around. He goes at 225 I think so he needs to really put some weight on and I think if you develop him for a year, you could have a decent player on your hands.
An NFC Scout I believe said the following about Sam Bradford: Also, the Dolphins, as well as the Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins, and Patriots, have attending at least one USC game.
That's pretty damn significant and unfortunate. He looked like a very good prospect from what I saw of him. Syracuse coach said he's not even sure if Williams is still enrolled in at Syracuse, which is sad. Williams had been fighting academic issues for a while now and was suspended against Akron for a team violation. He's also had some uncertainty over school in the past but as recently as a few months ago, he stated he was finally happy at Syracuse.
That's a strange one and really puts the cat amongst the proverbial pigeons at the top of the WR board with Dez Bryant now officially suspended till 2010. Williams seems a good, hard working kid who's made some bad decisions. But leaving the team now seems like such a mistake.
I think these are very good developments for us having a chance at a receiver in the 2nd round that might have 1st round talent. I keep seeing us drafting defense in the first round but who knows.
If we keep winning, we're gonna win ourselves right out the running for McClain and possibly Spikes (and Dez & Spiller, too). LOL Posted via Mobile Device
The word out of Syracuse is that Mike Williams and three other teammates went to turning stone casino to gamble and were involved in a car accident. Apparently knowing this was a violation of team rules Mike Williams blew his lid and quit the team. Doug Marrone had a team vote because Williams wanted back on the team and the team voted him back on. There still has not been a decision but the other 3 involved are suspended for this weeks game. Mike Williams has had 3 separate incidents now at Syracuse from Cheating and being thrown out of school then managed to get back in and was suspended a game for violating team rules and now this. He has talent but appears to have some serious character flaws that need to be addressed.
That paints a devastating picture for Williams. But on the plus side, I'm not sure I've seen a single play where he was adequately covered to where he couldn't possibly catch a ball, unless he was interfered with in some way. He's pretty ridiculous. Arthur Jones is a man and he's one of my favorites. I might like him better than McCoy but not as a NT for our system. I like him more as a DE for this system. Another Randy Starks type. He is an animal. We may have our NT on roster anyway. It would be interesting to me, to see what a rotation of Soliai and Dotson could do at that position. I certainly wouldn't mind if Brandon Spikes' eye gouging incident dropped him down a bit to our draft position. But, I doubt it.
