Well I'd say that catch at the end of the game was fairly routine.

Right, so when we start from the 35 yd line because they refuse to kick the ball to Ginn, that is a waste of time as well?

By all means, please show me all these 40 yd jump balls into the endzone that are routinely brought in.

If they are so routine, you should easily be able to cite numerous instances just from this year alone.

Hell if they are so routine, we should be doing them more often for that matter.

I was surprised that he was even that open under those circumstances. That there was single coverage on him in the endzone on a 3rd and long with 40 seconds left down by 4.

We're not talking the type of jump ball that he lost out on against the Jets in week 1 of last year.

The truth is that he was single covered and in good position on a ball that hit him right in the hands that he didn't pull down. That's routine to an NFL WR. This was no jump ball thrown into traffic that you're making it sound like

Yeah, I sure got the feeling too, especially the backhanded way he gave it to him. I also got that feeling when he came out and said his return performance wouldn't get him back on the starting WR lineup.
    But thanks for playing.

I'd just keep him if we are not going to get anything better for him.....who knows, he may learn not to have the drops?

I am not factoring point of the game or score into this. If a jump ball 40 yards downfield into the endzone is routine, please cite some other instances from this year. It can be on the 1st drive of games for all I care. I never once mentioned traffic either. Single coverage happens a lot throughout a game, I am certain you can find some 40 or even 30 yard jump balls into the end zone to back up how routine it is.

Ok, so trade deadline is long passed. So this is just B.S. speculation on what they might do during the offseason. Does anyone on this board really think this FO would be foolish enough to decide Ginn's fate with a half a season of football left for him to prove whether or not he's worth keeping? Would they really decide they're definitely trading him after he almost single handedly wins us a game? I don't think so. I'll acknowledge it could happen, but for any "source" to claim this is definitely going to be a priority for the FO at this point in the season is just ridiculous, IMO.

My personal thoughts on trading Ginn is I don't like it. Sure he hasn't performed to the level of a #1 WR and maybe he never will. But if he can contribute on special teams and maybe become a serviceable #2 or even a #3 WR, why get rid of him? Maybe if someone gave up a #2 I could see it, but for anything less, it's just not worth it. Too much of a chance he gets his act together for another team and ends up hurting us.

If the FO does deal him, I'll respect their decision, but I don't see it happening. Not living up to draft status isn't a valid reason to deal somebody. I think they realize Ted Ginn can help this team more by staying than by earning a low round pick in a trade.

So if it was only a 10 or 20 yard pass that he had to jump and get you'd agree that it was routine? By your definition that deep ball that he dropped in the endzone earlier in the game wouldn't be routine either because there are only a couple of those throws per game max in the NFL.

What your saying is that because it was 40 yards downfield and he had to jump for it makes it not routine. Add to the fact that this type of throw is only made at most twice per game making it not routine.. I guess I can understand your point and that's where we can agree to disagree. IMO, every WR in the NFL is expected to make that catch, routine or not

It means it's even more important that we get good production out of Ted the rest of this season.

Why would his return performance get him back to WR anyways? It was a good performance returning, not at WR. He needs to make plays at WR for that to happen. As for backhanded, i didn't get that at all from that. He mentioned how he has been thru a lot of stuff and deserved the game ball.

Here is link, he looked happy for his player, coulda swore i heard him say he was proud of him.

Why does posting his stats bring on your post.

Or is it maybe the stats look really bad

No ya know what....they are really bad

why can't people just understand Tedd Ginn Jr has done very little as a dolphin?

Just because someone posts the guys stats doesn't mean he's hating on him:up:

I am sure Tedd Ginn Jr is a nice guy, a gentlemen and no one takes that away from him.

His usefulness as a Dolphin is over, at least that's what the reporters think.

    LOL
Anyone who thinks that the penalties were what got Ginn free on those returns that were called back obviously didn't watch the games.

I'd be very surprised if the Dolphins trade Ginn for a low pick in the offseason.

    That is all good.....

I am just saying that it is a little weird to be talking about dumping him after this last game.

BTW...you don't trade away top notch return men for late picks....that is just dumb.

he can also serve a purpose on offense by just clearing out with his speed.

He is a worth a roster spot. we should be in the addition and not the subtraction business.

Nabo has it exactly right for what Ginn is ....

does it mean that he doesn't have any utility on this team right now today .... no

does it mean we'll still need him after the season is over ... no

but we need to let it play out and see what he can achieve as a KR ... as we don't really have much of a choice at this point in the season.

i personally said during this past offseason that this would be Ginns last year as a PHIN, not because i don't like him .... he just doesn't bring enough to the table to keep him.

i did really think about him along side of a true #1, and whether he could be a Terry Glenn (as i have always compared him to) .... but i don't even have that much confidence in him anymore.

why, because he plays scared .... he can't be counted on to make tough catches, he must be hit in stride ... he doesn't like contact, and if given a choice he'll avoid it. these 2 qualities do NOT endear him to this coaching staff and FO.

what Ginn has is speed, and speed alone ... the good news is that someone will always covet what he has ... so someone will pony up a decent pick for him in the offseason, if we can't package him in another deal.

Bess better get his game on this last part of the season as well .... i am actually more disappointed in him than i am in Ginn, because he flashed some real potential at the end of last year, potential that just has not carried over this year.

Thankfully, Hartline is showing some promise, we still have CAM, and we don't know what Turner has ..... but hopefully, he can get on the field in the next 3-4 weeks and get some experience.

Nothing changes the fact that we still need a dominant WR next year ... with or without Ginn .... that remains a fact .... i'm just at the point that it just doesn't matter whether you put one across from Ginn, that it would change the way he plays .... yes, it might put a 'lesser' corner against him - that might not be as physical ... but sans speed - do we really think that would matter with him .... my vote at this point is clearly -- NO.

I agree 100%. Trading him away for a late round pick is dumb.

As I said, he's a great return man, and I just don't think he's a wideout. I'd like to see him get some reps in the slot. I really think it could revive his career. I think he was always meant to be a slot guy and the fact that we drafted him so high forced us to push him as our primary #1 wideout.

With the way Bess has been playing, it's a perfect time to give him a try at the slot.

Getting him in the slot and sending him on slants and out routes would be fine but the Slot Wr takes a bit of punishment. He's just not built for it. He is a Z or Y to me....
