I don't get it, Bess lead these team in receptions against the cheaters, leading the team in reception and yards and he is in a slump ? One bad game equals into a slump ? Bess is the heart and soul of our receiving team, yes the stats could be better but what do you expect when every team in league laughs at our number one receiver ?
Is that Bess or Cam? Ginn hasn't been the number one for 2 weeks. Didn't most people say Ginn isn't a number 1 WR anyways.
i guess hartline didnt start? i missed the first five minutes. which wrs started the game? bess and cam?
Why do you keep Bess and cut Turner, what the hell are you on. Bess is the worst receiver in this team.
I don't believe he is worst on the team but as I am listening to everyone, I am thinking he is just in a slump. I wouldn't cut Turner mainly because we haven't seen him play yet. It wouldn't be fair in my book.
maybe we should just cut ronnie brown. he hasnt done anything the last two games. he's clearly a bust
Brother I am with you. Whether by the draft or free agency, we need to bring two stud WR's in here, because we really need help. Nice post.
Use Ricky and Ronnie running more short routes to help this season. Let them catch more. Never ask Ginn to catch a ball on third down.Keep him for returns. Keep Hartline. Trade Bess Cam gotta like him but. Turner gotta see him unless the coaches dont want him on the field. DRAFT DRAFT DRAFT!
Catches against the Pats, not hard when you catch 3 yard passes. Cam gives us the same things Bess does, but guess what? Cam does all those things better. Yes Bess is in a slump, what has he done this year? Besides drop balls and fumble? The Patriot game means nothing when he caught 6 passes for 56 yards. We need more then that. And every team doesn't laugh at our number one WR, well they do now cause it's not Ginn. It's someone nobody is even scared of. At least Ginn can get behind you and do dmg. In all honesty, Ginn is a number 2 at best, someone who can stretch the field, heck maybe just a number 3. We need some consistent playmakers at WR. Bess is not that great. As for heart and soul of our WR team, it has heart? It has soul? Sure doesn't look like it, and if it does, it comes from Cam none of the others.
Your blind Ginn was 1 block from taking a few of those returns to the house. If we didn't have Ginn do we honestly beat the Jets dating back to week 17 of last year? Ginn was huge in that game and gave the impression he was poised to breakout. Well thus far he has been a failure but he has done more than Davone Bess. With that said if nothing improves in the Receiving core by the end of the year we must get Dez Bryant.
Well here's my opinion since you've ask for it. I offer the following stats for your interest: Cobbs - 5 games - 16 returns - 361 yds - 22.6 ave. 39 long 20+/11 Ginn - 3 games - 18 returns - 586 yds - 32.6 ave. 2/100+ 20+/15 40+/2 TD 2 Bess - 8 - Penny/17 - 140 yds 8.2 Henne/19 - 112 yds. 5.89 + 2 Fum 1st down 52% Camarillo - 8 - Penny/7 - 44 yds 6.28 Henne/18 - 216 yds. 12.0 1st. down 56% Hartline - 6 - Penny/4 - 36 yds 9.0 Henne/7 - 139 yds. 19.8 1st down 72% 1. Answer me this, Why on earth would you want to trade away a Kick returner that has the speed and ability to change the game at any time plus give us field position the way this guy can do it? I know, I know he was the 9th pick in 2007 along with his family, please give it a rest. So he will never be our #1 WR but he can/should be our D. Hester and that one kick return just may be the SB winner, you just never know, as he's already won one game for us doing just that this year! Are we so good that we can afford to give away a game changer, I think not! I will add one more thought about our Mr. Ginn just to get you thinking. Hester is in his fourth year and is now catching around 76 % of the balls thrown his way but up until this year it was in the 45/50 % area while last year Ginn went from 45% in 07 to 60% in 08 and now back at 45 % this year, Why? I'm not even going to talk about Turner as he's unable to get on the field - that says it all! IMHO Now we come to our three peas (in a pod) Imho Mr. Bess is the least attractive of this group and while Mr. Hartline may have the most potential I remember a certain HC saying potential doesn't win games! I will also point out that although Camarillo's 1st down % is 56 % that figure is somewhat misleading as under Henne it is now 86%. At the begining under Penny it was around 30% and that more than likly because he was coming off the bad knee. All of these figures come from the NFL site and are there for all to see. So the bottom line imho is that if any are cut or traded their names should be Bess and Turner and we should go get ourselves a true #1 while keeping the other three!
Also note on Cobbs longest return that was the game where they faked the end-around with Ginn. Before that I would bet that Cobbs sniffed passed the 25 once.
Ok lets think about this and talk about it, what if we try moving Ginn to a slot receiver as our number two player ? I mean with his speed he should get open over the middle almost use him like a Welker type player. Then use Hartline as number one, switch Bess and Cam around as number three and then also on a four receiver down. Maybe Ginn should be given a chance to try out as a number two guy, let's do it before we cut the guy.
i can only assume that patrick turner makes derrick hagan look like andre johnson. if there were ANY bite to this kid, we'd be seeing him.
I completely agree. As someone said earlier, this is extremely similar to the Shawn Murphy case last year, and Anthony Alabi case a few years ago. Shawn Murphy couldn't even crack the gameday squad when our starting guards were Andy Alleman and Ike Ndukwe and everyone pleaded to give him time. Well we did, and now he's cut. Jump back 3-4 years ago with Anthony Alabi. We may have a 5th round study everyone said because of a few quotes from the coaches in training camp. Yet he still couldn't get on the field above guys like Damion McIntosh and LJ Shelton. The bottom line is when you're inactive amongst one of the worst receiving groups in the NFL in week 8, things aren't looking good. I've pretty much given up hope on him becoming anything but a decent payer in the future.
You are making good points and I thank you for bringing that to my attention. I said those things because there has been too much inconsistency from these receivers, mainly Ted Ginn. Not only in receiving but in returning. At least that is my take on it.
I'd honestly get rid of ANY 2-3 of our receivers for a stud #1 (Hartline, Camarillo, Bess, Ginn, and/or Turner). It's that critical of a need, and we're losing games because of it. In order of value to the team I'd say they're all honestly at the exact same position. For everyone that is saying "Turner is a bust" before he's even gotten to play, remember that the only reason Hartline is on the field is because he's picked up all of the different WR positions already. Whether that's Coach spin, or true, the point is that it might not be Turner's lack of physical ability, and moreso that he really needs work in learning the offense and our packages. As for Hartline, he's progressing, and being a decent target for a rookie, probably not going to be a #1 though. Ginn's return ability is too valuable. First return he did if I recall he looked dangerous and the Pats knew it, he pulled up to I think it was the 35, on a kickoff from the opposite side of the field, near the endzone. Hell they were kicking for TBs because they were afraid of what he could do. Most of the times I saw him make a return he pulled up some decent yardage. Camarillo is our only receiver who can reliably catch the freaking football. A WR is not worth his weight in **** if he cannot do this one simple thing. However he's where he's at, and he doesn't really have the potential to get much better like Turner or Hartline. Bess is hot and cold. He can make some clutch plays some weeks, but has also had some pretty terrible weeks. The bottom line is you can make a serious argument either way to get rid of just about any one of these guys.
