    Yes I did start a thread about that. I did it though, because I thought it was an interesting story, not because I thought it was a grand gesture. People would roll down the window, if they wanted to buy a paper.

    I agree, he has no obligation to give that guy a job, and suggesting that kind of thing is a bit ridiculous.

    I'm not saying Parcells leaked the story. In fact, I'm not accusing Parcells of anything bad or negative, in any way. The fact that a bunch of you are making that assumption kind of proves my other point about building up heroes though.

    Ok, the way you're couching the argument, is that Penny is a great leader and Zach is a leader. By using that scale, anyone could be a leader just varying degrees of good and bad.

    I'm saying that you have leaders and people who aren't leaders. If you aren't a leader you are not a "bad" leader.

    Penny=good leader
    JT=bad leader
    Zach=not a leader

    No that is what you are trying to make the argument so you can find a flaw in my reasoning. Zach is a leader, maybe not as great a leader as penny, but still a leader. Ginn is not a leader, camarillo is not a leader. JPeezy is a bad leader sometimes. and So on. In no way have I said people can not be leaders, I have said zt is a leader, he lead in a different way, but was not to pennys level. Again you are trying to make my argument what it is not.

    And I agree except I say that zt is a leader.

    Ok fair enough. How was Zach a leader and Camarillo isn't then? What's the difference?

    mostly i don't know enough about cam to say he is in fact a hard worker. he takes shots, yes, he catches the ball, yes, other then that I dont know his work ethic. By most accounts I've heard zt had that work ethic.

    So its the work ethic that makes one a leader?

    sometimes, yes, I think so. ZT to me was a combination of that hard worker, and just a likeable guy, so therefore, ended up being a leader. Plus he put his *** on the line, took shots, like cam does. I think all of that helped make him a leader. He though was not vocal so to speak therefore, wasn't a great leader, like penny, nor did he seem to be as proactive as penny.
    If you need proof of zt being a leader, look at his fanbase. Fans like him because 1) they saw how he played, 2) saw he worked hard 3) he just seemed like a all around good guy. People are just drawn to him for some reason.

    If you do your job from day in and out, and have obvious results from it, people will notice that, and tell other people to do stuff the way you do. Zach worked hard, it rubbed off on players. Many people came out and stated that they worked harder than they ever have before, just by watching Zach do his job. That's leadership. Not the rah-rah leadership. But the the quiet, do your job, and you will be fine leadership.
    Comparing him to the guy at work who never been promoted is ridiculous. Being selected 7 time all pro, 7 time pro bowler, rookie of the year, 2 time alumni associateion linebacker of the year, he has recieved the TEAM LEADERSHIP AWARD 3 times, tied for most all time. If the team voted the guy to be the best leader on the team, it can't possibly mean that he is a leader....can it? Two time reciepeint of team MVP award...and the list goes on.
    So no, saying that he is the guy that gets looked over is ridiculous. He was few of the players that got national attention from this team.

    I can't believe this is being debated.
    For me, it at least showed me a side of parcells I didn't think existed. By his demeanor and things I've heard him say, he always sounded hard and cold. And a big jerk.
    I've never really liked or trusted him, but that's just me. If he helps this team, whether I like him or not, I'll back him up.

    And IMO, Zach is a leader by example. Sometimes it's the quiet leaders who make the biggest impact on their fellow players and fans.
    I won't take up for JT because I don't want to debate his leadership.

    when zach thomas goes to the probowl......and less than a week after getting back from hawaii he is at dolphins facilities working out....the other players feed off that....and they follow. to be a leader....people must follow you.....regardless of your definitions and opinion.....ask anyone that has played with zach thomas....and they would follow him into battle anyday.....that imo is a leader.

    Parcells, who can have as many free tickets as he wants, gave a homeless man one of them. Great.

    Zach Thomas was a great player, therefore he's a great leader. Fine.

    I don't want to be accused of causing trouble, so I'll agree to disagree with all of you.

    How do you say that, after he wont three team leadership awards. If his teammates think he was a leader...you think you have a better prospective on things than the guys he played with?

    BTW, the Parcells Bellichick relationship grows... Parcells only talks football to a homeless guy, while Bellichick dresses like a homeless guy...

    Bill Parcells...one of the most misunderstood figures in our sport...

    He cares for the right kind of people, that have the right kind of character makeup, with good intentions.. he does'nt care, or have patience for people who dont. {media, primadonnas, players that are not grateful for their talents}

    Its kind of like my life...i have a very soft spot for people who are underprivaleged, who were born with disabilities, people who just didnt get a chance in life..However, people who are not grateful, and do not reflect that gratefulness in their everyday life, for not being in that group, piss me off to no end..

    When i see a kid in a wheelchair or something like that, i almost feel like switching places with them, so they can feel whats its like to have a chance..

    I try to always roll my window down, because we just dont know what its like to walk in their shoes..

    much respect to the man in the avatar {freakin genious}....hope the old fart sticks around to get doused with the bubbly....
