HAHA I thought you were starting a flame thread Padre. Ive never been to the HOF but it seems as though it is getting crowded with a lot of garbage for records that seem to really have no significance. I mean lets be honest, hes tied with 7 other people. Last year I remember Ronnie's jersey from the Pats game getting retired for the "Wildcat" and tieing the record of having 3 rushing scores and 1 passing score in a game. While it's cool to see Dolphins stuff in the HOF, the records seem to be getting ridiculous. They should just expand on the space allocated to a certain 1972 team.

The NFL/MLB/NBA and NHL all have a temprature controlled Reserve Library for when they need to display certain memoribillia. Funny and ironic. Grats to Ginn for making the HOF. I must say watching him make those two returns brought goosebumps to my entire body.

Cheapens the Hall of Fame as far as I'm concerned. One small shot of greatness should not be what the Hall is about. By comparison, they won't induct Kooch, which is ridiculous.
They've always gotten memorabilia from great performances and great games, as well as inducting players who had great careers. The NFL's history is about more than just a handful of players each year, it is the culmination of those players, the rare athletic feats and production from a given game/season, and the awesome battles waged on any given Sunday. This in no way cheapens the HOF as it was a rare feat (seeing as it was the 1st time it ever happened). For arguments sake there are plenty of all-pro Gs in the HOF. Not like Kooch would've been the 1st. One could argue the induction of Kooch cheapens the HOF as much as the induction of this spectacular moment from a game (though in reality neither cheapen the HOF, it helps illustrate how rich in history this league is).
I get your beef about certain players not being inducted that should, but I don't see how honoring great single game accomplishments cheapens the Hall of Fame. Though I've never been I'm sure the baseball hall of fame is full of famous home run balls and the like. I don't hear anybody complaining about that. It's not just about memorable players, it's about memorable games. I know that someday when I finally get around to visiting Canton, I'll appreciate seeing Ronnie's jersey and Ginn's shoe. Just my opinion.
One could argue it, but it wouldn't be a winner in my book. The Hall of Fame is a shrine, not Ripley's Believe It Or Not/Canton. It is meant to enshrine the kind of character, persistence and consistency that become greatness and reflect positively on the game, not cases of first impression that amount to happenstance and are little more than oddities in the grand scheme of the game. The possibilities of things happening for the first time on a football field are close to infinite, but that doesn't mean that we should enshrine each new one as greatness. By comparison, someone like Kooch has the kind of career-long achievements that should be enshrined by recognition as a HOF player. The fact that others have achieved greatness at the same position does not take away from the merit of another individual who deserves to be in the same company. To recognize a stellar player as another one of the greats could never cheapen the Hall. To enshrine a one-time achievement by an otherwise forgettable player who had one very good game, in my personal opinion, does. But hey -- I'm just another spectator. I don't get to judge who or what goes in the Hall. Just thinking out loud and rooting for Kooch.

The Pro Football HOF Mission Statement: Adding to what is at the HOF: Nowhere in the mission statement would the inclusion of Ted Ginn's cleats cheapen what they are trying to do. It specifically fits with one of their galleries. Everyone knows the busts are the most important part of the HOF, but it is not the only part of the this HISTORY of pro football. Plenty of important moments have happened with essentially no-names, that does not and should not, discount the accomplishments of those particular players for those specific moments. They are all important, and help make pro football what it is.
individual performances have to be celebrated at sports hall of fames, not just careers. Tom Dempsey's field goal was in the hall of fame. it was a field goal for christ's sake. any single game performance that is one for the ages should be celebrated and remembered Having said that, Kooch and many other Dolphins should be in the hall
PS: Pat Swilling is more deserving of the HOF than Kuechenberg. There's no outcry from him though because he played on bad teams.
Ginn's not getting a bust and a speech, jeez. the NFL wants to celebrate all the great things that has happened in the league, and a player having two 100+ yard touchdowns in one game is a pretty great thing that's never been done before.

how about you guys read the article that tells you why he has a jersey in there for that game. it says they got a jersey from each team. the dolphins submitted ginn's jersey because he was the only dolphin to score a TD in that game.
his deal is simple: return all punts & kicks use on offense as an occasional deep threat & end runs it is what it is: he'll have to run his way into the Hall of Fame if he's ever going to get there
Well, if the Hall of Fame is located out of bounds short of the first down marker, our lil' Teddy will have no problem making it in.
