RPGs generally incorporate decision-based character progression. That is very limited in COD. Your only decisions are essentially which guns to use and which killstreaks to unlock first/which 3 to load up on any given match. The biggest differences are the fact that developers who create a RPG, have to develop an extremely in-depth & intelligent system behind the scenes. The rpg-ish elements used in COD to be devoid of those hefty designs. Its not like they are making you put skill points into attributes that will impact your character forever.

Yah, the PS3 server issues kind of put a damper on things today. I finished off the story though, it was pretty cool. The servers were back up when I checked at 7:30ish my time. I was really getting my *** kicked for a little while but got the hang of it. All the guns are powerful and they are all accurate from long range, kind of pisses me off yo be honest. When will these game makers figure out weapon balance?
Biggest launch ever here in the UK, 1.23 million copies sold on the first day easily beat the previous best of 623K by GTA IV. Still haven't completed the story yet but I've been playing online a little, only up to rank 11 and getting owned, managed a stupendously bad 0-21 on 1 map last night. I'm having a lot of difficulty identifying enemy/friendlies on most maps tbh. I'm loving the Special Ops missions especially since you can do them Co-Op over LIVE. Kinda remind me of the challenges in Batman Arkham Asylum.

Spoiler if you're talking about the airport massacre I skipped it when given the option. Mostly because my baby was in the room, but also because it is saving me time going through single player. I may go back and try it later, but not sure it's necessary to my overall game satisfaction
I have one question, how is it that with FPS games within a day or two of its launch some people are already in the high 20s or 30s in rank online? I understand a few beta folks but other than that it has to be people that play the game straight for several hours.
I am talking about that.... But being caught off guard is part of the experience. I think it's a brutal scene, but it really adds to the experience based on what happens in the level. Just my opinion. At least go back and try it once.
I think obsess might be a light word for doing that in a day or so. I could see in two weeks to a month but a day or so is crazy.
That airport mission caught me off guard and I'm not exactly sure it's necessary for the story. Infinity Ward is receiving a lot of bad publicity for it and rightfully so. They could have accomplished that with a quick cut scene.

Glad they brought that back and I think Toys R Us has it with a $20 GC as well plus if you buy it and certain other games (just 1) you'll get another $25 GC plus a $10 GC if you get their ads (for purchases over $75). So a total of $55 if you get all that. I'm going to get it and Episodes from Liberty City and then use my gift cards to get the GOW: Collection and have $15 left over. The deal runs through Saturday I believe.
Just bought it. Great news though... My 360 decided to stop reading discs again after being great for the last 2 months. Awesome! I'm out of warranty so my best shot at getting this fixed is RROD. I don't have or want to throw $90 at towards a MS repair. I put on the L4D demo trying to squeeze some more juice out of it. How many days do you think it will take to RR the thing? I don't want to wrap a towel around it and set it on fire, as I think this process will go on for a bit and I won't be around for hours when I have class. ETA: My 360 LIVES! From some weird reason, everytime I loaded up a game (or tried) I got these two weird clicking noises. When it finally worked, it had none. Anyone think they know what's up with my 360?
Sounds like your dvd drive is failing. it sounds a lot like what happened to mine right before it quit for good.
The so called "controversial" level was awesome... Spoiler The worst part was all of the other Russian guys with me were kill stealing. I didn't have time to get in front of them and mow down the crowd. I just some left overs... It's a game... Not a big deal at all. the grenade launching machine gun was cool too. I really got to learn the names of these guns lol.

this game is amazing. and as far as multiplayer, i was doing decent at first using assult rifles like i always did, but i started switching aroung and i have fell in love with the aug with perks bling(silencer and grip) cold blooded and steady aim. at first my k/d ratio was 1/1 but i am easily getting kills at a 2/1 ratio now and its wierd because in cod4 i never touched lmg's. so if anyone is struggling try switching it up you never know what may work for u.
