He blocks well too. He manhandled his man on one of the WC plays with Ricky taking the snap. He obviously gets open and knows how to catch. We may have a football player on our hands
He looks like he has great hands to me. Haynos didn't do too bad today either though, but I think Sperry has something we need. A quicker TE to make some room for Bess and Camarillo.
they just keep turning over the bottom & looking under rocks the system require time, diligence & some occasional good luck maybe he's a keeper. we'll only know by playing him
He used his hands very well on that catch. Didn't let it get into his face/body. Pretty impressive catch. I like him as a prospect.
http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?p=826492#post826492 Always good to see CSU players making a contribution. Above is a thread from when he was signed as a free agent.
Agreed. Hopefully he shows that he can be a starter for us so we can address the Receiver spot unless we get Boldin then I want McClain or Spikes.
Sperry is from CSU (Colorado State University). My dads Alma Mater. Makes me like him even more. Nice to see guys come out of some of these smaller colleges!
Funny you say that. To me the big key today was when Freeman ran out of bounds at the 1:35 mark. If he would have stayed in bounds there is no way we win the game. It was a first down play that stopped the clock and saved us time. He had a nice run with a mistake.
Earned the starting TE spot, IMO. That's not only how bad the position has been, but how impressive Sperry was yesterday. He blocked exceptionally well, too.
In one game looks like a better red zone target than pretty much everybody Henne has been throwing to. Like to see him get more chances on thursday, a lot more. He earned them.....
The coach got all over his azz after that play.. I had been screaming at him for going out but ended up laughing watching his body language as he was dressed down. We knew Saturday afternoon he was playing.. we saw his jersey hanging up in the locker room.
I'm as impressed by the fact that he didn't even flinch with Camarillo hanging off of him like a 4 year old. Guy looks solid all around. As an aside I still have high hopes for Haynos as well.
