agreed. i liken this tyo sparano's growing pains as a rookie head coach. i think parcells had a little talk with him and said dont cut off your nose to spite your face. the message has been received and lets win some football.

couldnt have happened soon enough. the offense has been putrid the last two weeks

not sure Hartline really ever 'took over' the starting job ... how many snaps did he play the last 2 weeks ... not sure - but i know i saw him on the sideline more than on the field.

these are 2 totally different types of WRs .... so its not like you can compare them and i'm not sure it really matters ... who you put out there in that position.

it only enables the 'Ginn can stretch the field' vs 'Hartine can make some plays' debates.

Ginn is what he is .... that we know .... we need to find out what Hartline is ... although, i think we are seeing that as well.

at this point, i just want whomever can help us win games on the field ... [note to JP]

People always say, we need to know what we have with this person or that person. Simply put though, the coaches and FO know what we have in Hartline right now. They don't have to see him start and catch a bunch of balls to have an idea of what we currently have in him. He sure as hell isn't better then Teddy for us right now, so he shouldn't get the majority of starts over him. As far as I'm concerned Teddy sucks and I'm sick of him, but what does that say about the rest of our receivers when we have to have him on the field over the other wideouts?? A lot

Of course it couldn't have anything to do with the fact Ginn is a crappy WR :pity:

Just ANOTHER excuse for this kid :pity:

Ginn will be traded by the next draft. You can teach better route running but a guy either has the ability to make a catch or doesn't at this level. Ginn has shown he is not tough enough nor clutch enough to be a #1 receiver in the league.

    That's a very good point.

Travis took alot of crap from folks who disliked Chambers and all of his dropsies, alot of us stood with him (Travis) and defended him (CC) because he was a Miami Dolphin and pointed out the good that he did. I love ya Travis, it's just a little disappointing to see you take the opposite approach with Ginn.

Lets not pretend that Quinn wasn't given every opportunity to be their starter WITH Edwards and Winslow, Quinn just hasn't been able to outplay Anderson, who wasn't exactly holding off all comers with his play.

The pass was a bit high, remember that Ginn isn't as tall as some of the WR's that you are comparing him to. Does a Randy Moss go up and get that ball? Probably. Ginn made a good effort and came up short (pun intended).

No doubt that Ginn was a HUGE deciding factor in this game as well

Guess what.... Hartline is QUICKLY catching up to Ginn in every WR stat there is....

Heck the kid off the street already has as many TD passes as he does this year.....

Yet, I will keep hearing about that one single TD catch.....and how it justifies him dropping everything thrown to him

he m ade a nice catch down the sideline, just missed getting his foot down, was wide open on the flea flicker that carey blew, and had his man beat on that first pass. bottom line he kept the dfefense honest which is more than happens when hartline starts which is why he's starting this w3eek and why he will start next week regardless of what the fans want

Chris, you know I respect you, but you knee-jerk with the best of them all throughout the game threads. On one play a player can be the hero and the next play he's a bum, then the next play he's the man, only to be thumping under the bus on the next drive. It's good to have emotion, sometimes there's a little too much emotion from some folks.

The first pass play Ginn had a chance at, but it was thrown a bit too high for him. If he had been taller I'm sure he would have had a better chance to have caught it, but he isn't and he didn't. The second pass thrown to him he caught and did a good job of trying to stay in bounds, but he wasn't able to and most players would have had trouble staying in bounds on those type of passes. The third pass thrown to him he was well covered and a pretty damn good player in Ronde Barber made a hell of a play to defend the pass and deflect the ball, not much Ginn could have done there yet he still takes crap. He didn't have a great day, but it wasn't for a lack of effort, yet he's once again the forum's punching bag.

I agree with FreeStyle, the lack of support that folks show our players is disappointing. On this board, a player is only as good as his last play, sometimes even less than that. Sperry had a good game and everyone loves him, he was available on the unemployment line from the Chargers wasfor a reason. Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that he'll be beaten and ripped to shreds next week when he drops a ball and reverts back to the player that was dropped by SD and sat on our practice squad? How long will it take in the game thread for people to start bellyaching over which TE's will be available in the draft?

Ronnie was injured, should we be posting the "OMGZ injury prone!" threads now or later?

The fact is, players have off games and off years, Ginn made steady progressions since coming in the NFL and now he's slumping. It happens to almost every player. Fans who are overly emotional don't care to give players a chance when they slump, imagine if the Falcons FO listened to their fans who were too wound up to give Roddy White a chance to develop. Hell, imagine where the Dolphins would be if the FO listened to the fans who said Ronnie was a bust, a backup, a weak RB who was afraid to run through the line or get hit, a guy who has terrible vision, a guy who will never be a starter and doesn't have what it takes to hold up in the NFL over a long season.

We'd be SOL because the knee-jerk reaction would have robbed us of a player who contributed later on. These players are Miami Dolphins, if folks root against players they are essentially rooting against the team. I don't particularly care for Porter, Grove, Taylor, Wilson, Crowder, Penny, etc but I don't root for them to fail or call for their heads when they do poorly. Why would I? When they do poorly, the team does poorly. If a player makes a mistake, feel free to point it out, but some folks take it to a whole other level that reminds me of the old place. I thought we were better than that, I still hope we can be, but I'm not seeing much indication that we are.

He's not really keeping teams defenses that honest. They stack the box against them no matter what. They take chances that he either won't get open or a pass will not be completed to him. Worked perfectly in the second half for the Bucs today.

I don't care who starts but do care if they're not playing the best Wr's on the team. If they think Ginn gives them the best chance to win thats fine, but I highly doubt their playing him just because he keeps teams honest.

To me he keeps them honest one play then keeps the opponent in the game the next....

What he did was fail to come up with vital plays that could have made this game much less of a nail biter. That nice catch down the side line netted 0 yards because he failed to pay attention to exactly where he was, Not getting that foot in was inexcusable. He finally makes a catch where it's not handed to him like a sleeping baby and he can't just make a play.

That pass over the middle was off his hands, again. .. if he's gonna be a part of this passing game, he has to make that play more times than not. These down field attempts to stretch the field are weakened by the lack of success we have, teams know our only deep threat is a kick returner/ unreliable WR.

Ginn's future lies at KR and if he can't earn his keep there, then I see his career taking a nose dive very soon.... because he's basically washing out as a receiver. He was given chances today and it's almost like the guy is allergic to making a play.

Our number one priority next season needs to be upgrading his position. You can only expect so much from Henne until he has something better to work with. Ginn is killing him out there......it's painful to watch

Ted Ginn Jr is ranked 103rd in receiving in the NFL, let me say it again our number one receiver is ranked 103rd in the NFL, now that is definitely a guy who deserves to be number one. Move him to the slot and maybe get a mid round draft pick for the guy.
