I bought it for the ps3 and I love it. From what I have read it is a better game on the PC. Much more Baldur's Gate like on the PC.

It is very KoTOR like on the ps3. It is almost exactly like KoTOR, except you will have to keep track of your party members A LOT more in Dragon Age Origins.

I wish the Tactics slot was not something I would have to unlock with leveling up. It would be helpful if I could make as many tactics as I would like.

Also on the ps3 they have this option I suggest turning on. Clicking the L3 button to toggle on the radial option menu. Before I would have to hold it down while making my selection. It is much easier to just click it on and click it off. That is my preference at least. I also wish it had some options like in Baldur's Gate where I could set it to pause if a party member gets to a certain health or something like that. Maybe it does have that and I need to mess with the options more. I do not like having my party members just swallow potions willy nilly and there is a cool down on heal spell so that can't just be spammed.

Myself I really like this game. By Dragon Age Origins flu, I meant I want to call in sick at work so I can play this game. I bought it last thursday and I have played 25 hours so far. Would have played more however football got in the way. I am probably about half way done. I barely read any of the codex. The amount of information is staggering. I could spend another hour reading all of the information I have collected.

Thanks, any PC'ers out there should check out Aion from NCSoft. My brother is PC only and he has given up WoW to play Aion. I was watching him over the weekend, checking it out, graphically amazing.

Paul another good RPG game for PS3 is Demon's Souls.

Then there is also Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Tales of Vesperia (not sure if it's out yet), and Eternal Sonata.

I've been playing Aion on and off since its launch down here... it's a good game also. Beautiful to look at. Tends to get a little repetitive sometimes but still good.

Game is hard and draws you in. I swear I have never done more reloading in 1 game in my life. I hate ****ing up convos or dying. I wish though you can change party members on the fly while in town.

is anyone else finding this game to be incredibly hard? I had to move it down to casual. I'm probably just not grasping the nature of the combat. It's fun though. I wish that Bioware hadn't slouched on the presentation though. The dialog in this game is so pointless in comparison to mass effect. the different camera angles, the voice acting for the main character, and the overall writing were much better in mass Effect than they are in this. But thankfully this game is only to hold me off until Mass Effect 2.

I feel the same way. I never had to Reload a game so much in my life.

Game is impossible at some points because if your fighting more than 7-8 enemies there is no hope in winning. Especially if they have Range support.

I wish they had a VA for the Main Character it really kills the experience. I agree this game was very well written but I had to turn it down to easy because everything takes forever and I wanna speed this up to be honest.

Story is fantastic though. Wish there was better loot though.

Also there are a few glitches that can help you.

When Duncan sends you out to the Wilds Collect the Dark Spawn Blood and head back to the Camp and Talk to Duncan tell him that you have the Blood but not the scrolls. You still get EXP and you can repeat this.

The 2nd Glitch requires the Stone Prisoner DLC to do.

Have you ever played KOTOR? Try to play this like kotor. It makes it much more beatable. until i started slowing the game down and making decisions on a per-character basis, it was brutally tough. Later on there are some REALLY tough bosses that are impossible if you try and fight them real time. Good luck...

Just want to point out the differences of Easy to Normal are ridiculous.

Easy you can blitz through it with no problems, Normal is leaps and bounds much more difficult and I cannot see how they ****ed up the levels of difficulty. I really can't imagine how Hard and Nightmare is. Nightmare must be impossible.

beat KOTOR 3 times. I feel like i just have so few attacks and is it just me or do you EVER get any better weapons? Been using the same damn sword for 8 hours.

As buckeyking just said, the game, for whatever reason, is incredibly easy on casual. Its ridiculous really. Haven't come close to death since i made the switch. I may switch it to normal and set up all my attacks like KOTOR but i'm also kind of enjoying the onslaught of destroying everything that crosses my path on casual.

Well I'm playing as a shield+Sword Noble Human and they get a total of four attacks : /. I specialized in Berserk and will be adding Champion to that.

Thus far Mages are OP IMO easy to play as plenty of great spells in there. You can probably build different mages on every playthrough and wreck havoc.

Rogues are Meh IMO. No point in playing with them unless you use a sword due to Daggers not getting Dex bonuses. If you want to play range I suggest you don't as there is no viable way to have arrows. It seems the only arrows in the world of Ferelden are magic arrows that cost alot early on. They ****ed that up IMO.

You do get better weapons but it takes a long *** time. I don't paly with any rogues in my party because I think they suck so I have to backtrack in dungeons with one that has a Master Lockpick. Loot in this game sucks :(.

I'd say if you haven't got into the story then no point in playing this game. Quite frankly I'm only playing it because the story is so engaging.

This game is MUCH bigger than Mass Effect. That is why the presentation is worse. The bigger the game the worse it is going to look. Hell on Mass Effect I was part of a team who looked at each individual piece of the citadel, made a decision whether it was important enough and then showed the space savings it would be to reduce the resolution of that piece. The smaller more compact the game is, the better it is going to look. Reason why Gears of War looks so much better than Mass Effect.

I like the origin stories a lot. I feel that helps the experience a lot. I do not mind the lack of voice acting because the character that I am playing is in my head. In fact as I am traveling with my friends I am finding myself soften up a little, which I have found weird. It is like this character I created to play is actually growing instead of like KoTOR where she was just an evil ***** all of the way through.

This game is freaking hard. I can't believe there is another boss after the Brood Mother. That ***** kicked my ***.

Arrows are free. If you do not equip arrows, they still use them.

I really like this game. And probably from my perspective a lot more than Mass Effect. ;)

Oh did not know that about Arrows

I can't say that I like more than Mass Effect. Mass Effect had a story and fast paced Combat. The difficulty is ridiculous. I spent probably the first 25-30 hours on Normal without changing then I felt I needed to bump it down when I was getting gang banged by 15+ enemies. Now I bumped it to Easy because I'm sick of spending hours fighting 5 battles.

I think DA:O gives the illusion that it is a long game. If the battles were a bit quicker it could probably be done in 35-40 hours.

I do like the Origin stories sucks you in. Too bad ME didn't have that. Would have been awesome.

I also think the succession of Mass Effect is what propelled Dragon Age to what it is. I'm interested on how they will expand DA:O

While I do dig DA:O's story, I thought Mass Effects was much stronger and the voice acting talent for ME was much better imo.

Weird how different people have completely different experiences...Im finding the game to easy on normal but I do pause and control every member. I generally min/max but not this game I take who I want to interact with in the party so I have Leliana/Morrigan/Shale If I was going to min max I would have Wynne/Alistair instead of Leliana/Shale and I very RARELY have to reload and its usually because Morrigan freezes everyone before I pause .

Im finding my Dual weilding Main is very overpowered stacking momentum/dual strike and berserker things die very quickly and If its a tough fight I have that blood spitting thing from the Fort DLC.. anyways not that anyone need tips but you should always have 20+ of the low health poltices since they are basically free and I would at least control the healer during the fight even in real time since good healing will help you win most of the battles.

Ive been waiting on this game for oh...about three years now...actually posted something about it in here awhile back. Very much worth the wait, as I feel it has taken the immersion factor to levels few games have at this point...in my opinion even more than ME. The single biggest reason is because you have to really think about what decision you are going to make...as they tend to have far reaching consequences down the road...

Im a human DW Rogue, specializing in Dueling. For those who may not have gotten there yet, youll come across characters along the way that will be able to teach you a specialization.

Combat is tough, no doubt about it. If you ever played WoW, or another MMO, youll probably pick it up faster though, as you realize the importance of turn based strat. You know about sapping, tanking, healing etc. Each character has its uses...and your not forced to keep the same party every time...although Ive set on the party I like best at the moment. Wyne is huge to have, as she by far has the best healing abilities. Having both her and Morrigan together has allowed me to go total DPS with my rogue and Zevran, another assasin type rogue. Both Sten and the other grey warden annoy me to no end...

Use the physics engine, it does help. Youll find encounters where you can push a monster back if you are stronger, and then keep them in a corner for your ranged dealers to zerg away....

If your playing rogue...you get a ton of DPS by backstabbing, let another get aggro...and hit them from behind....

This game is sooo deep storywise...its truly amazing. Ive heard the Frost Back Mountains is the most visually stunning of all the areas, but havent been there yet.

Oh....and yes..the PC version is by far the best from what I have read...and thats what I am running. Have a Pentium Quad 2.8 GHZ, 6 Gig Mem, and a GForce 8800GT...and I have it cranked right out..and thats by no means a gaming rig....so the graphics are quite good. I think they may have taken the graphics down a notch so you dont have to have a super machine to play it. I will agree the ME graphics to date are some of the best...I went with a bald head, and you can see the seam on the back of the neck...a little annoying...so much that I wont use a bald guy again...but other than that....Im very happy. Love the finishing moves...

Wow just finished it and wow jsut blown away at the story and how everything gets tied together.

Dragon Age would make a great book series and movie IMO.

My choices were as followed. BIG SPOILERS

    Romanced-Morrigan
Saved the Arl without killing his son or Wife
    Saved Circle tower
    Released the Werewolves
    Destroyed the Anvil
    Harromont was chosen King
    Kept my whole party
Did not kill the Dragon sitting atop the ruins holding the Ashes
    Killed Flemeth
    Killed Arl Howe
    Stripped the Howe's of everything.
Convinced Anora and Alistair to Marry
    Fought and killed Loghain
Impregnated Morrigan instead of sacraficing a Warden
Told Alistair I would pursue Morrigan

Wow all I can say is loved story progression although I did not want it to end especially after reading what happened. Argh this is why I hate RPG's with a passion.

I wonder if they will try to make it where in the sequel it will go based off choices you made in the first.

Very interested in what becomes of the Bastard Child that Morrigan ran off with.

    Overpowered.

2nd playthrough rolling with Leliana, Wynne, and Shale/Sten/Alistair.

The dog was so beastly on my 1st playthrough having overwhelm did wonders.

Cone of Cold on enemies they could never touch you. Basically I'm going with 1 tank which is Alistair or any other warrior, Wynne basically is the Buffer of the group I'm the DPS mage while Leliana either takes out Archers and mages or back stabs Warriors.

Not too far into either yet. All I know is that the start of DS is waaay more hooking than DA.

Does DA pick up the pace some or does it play slow the whole way?

Well not saying which I prefer because I honestly dont know.

My question is whether or not DA speeds up...as far as having so many conversations, long cut scenes, and so on. Also whether your fighting ability gets...better as you get better stats. Because my character uses his sword extremely poorly
