As much as we miss ronnie brown ricky is stepping up large for the team and the defence has been really good tonight brings some hope for phins fans
can't say i ever lost hope. The offense was mighty impressive today. Ricky, of course, was a phenom. But we can expect this from him. What shocked me was Bess and Ginn. Very good games from both of them. Also, nice to see Porter shut some people up. He now has 1 less sack than Jason Taylor.
Usain Bolt called, he's jealous. You showed a TON of heart tonight RW. Thank you sir! ps. Lousanka layed some huge key blocks. We have a pro bowl FB.
Ricky really overcame a penchant for staying in the shadows. he doesn;t love the spotlight. He actually didn;t even want to do meida interviews the last week but the NFL forced him to... and he STILL cut it short saying OKay, that's it. I'm done. Brotherman hates the sp[otlight... so even MORE kudos to him coming through for the team this week. Bythe WAY... Parcells apparently talked to him this week and mentioned that, like Ricky, Elivs Presley, after time away from his career, felt anxious about taking center stage again and he dealt with it and kicked ***. Parcells is a master motivator, I must say.
The thing about Ricky...is that Ricky is still Ricky. (Not talking about Henderson ) He can still bust through the tackles for decent gains. He still is a hard hit to bring down. He still wears down the defense. See the past 2 games with the huge runs at the end of the game to seal the wins. What Ricky is starting to lack is the explosive burst and the breakaway speed. Though, I think many will argue that his speed still looked good on those late runs. The fact that he is still fresh when the others are worn down is huge. That is why you don't see him having those runs early in the game. Still...he is still a HUGE asset to have right now!
The man is an animal. He is not human. He is a freak of nature. Always has been. That's why he won the Heisman. He is at his most effective in the fourth quarter from the perspective of gaining yards because he is in such incredible football shape that everyone else is tired and dragging, while he's still going. The tired defense gets a little sloppy, he finds a crease, he gets to the second level, and he's gone. It's the same old story with him when it comes to breaking big runs in the fourth quarter. A lot of people "find religion" after they've hit bottom because of something they've done or failed to do. This guy is your example. He admitted his many mistakes, retired into yoga and exercised his body, and then hit the conditioning programs harder than anybody and exercised himself into the best football shape of his life. He received his second chance and made the best of it. Is it any wonder that the team looks at him as a leader? This is the kind of success-overcoming-adversity, character-building, self-redemption story that Disney puts together. From worthless pothead quitter laughing stock to genuine team hero. "I won't talk about myself. I'll only talk about the team." Here is a dude who has learned his lesson. I won't say role model, because of his mistakes, but if you're a Pop Warner coach and you want an example of football building character that isn't there to start with, there stands Ricky. He makes me proud to be a Dolphins fan.
Good day fellow phinphans. Being the lone Dolphin fan in a see of Green and Gold (superior, WI) I have had my trials and tribulations in getting games on at the bar. NOT LAST NIGHT. And I was as loud and obnoxious as any Packer fan is on their day. Let me just say this, the one thing I think we overlook a bit is how well the DEFENSE played. Steve Smith was relatively unknown for his capability. And until the last drive, Jake Delhomme looked like a scared puppy due to Porter and companies pressure. Let's hope that they can continue this stride, and make a serious run at the division this season. RUN RICKY RUN!!!
You have a very short memory then. Read what you wrote in post #15 http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?t=40902 You didn't believe in Ricky at all and you were proven wrong.
call out my post and you clearly didn't even read it. I'll post it again tho. does that sound like someone who didn't believe in him? Make no mistake, i have rickys jersey in aqua, white and orange. Have him and started him in both fantasy leagues im in. Used to read runrickyrun.com right up until he stopped writing it. I believe in Ricky Williams. Our offense, however, showed signs of stalling many times in the game (like the entire 3rd qtr, for example) and you could tell we needed something to shake the panthers up. The panthers did indeed stack the box on us a lot, but we're lucky they just suck when they do that. (they gave up 19 ypc when they had 9 men in the box. Crazy) We did lack variety in the game, we're just lucky Bess, Ginn and Hartline made some plays. And they're gonna have to continue to do that without Brown on offense.
Days of old huh? Ricky ran well, Chad Henne played well, Base offense had variety. Guys in the box. Hilliard was great. Bess MASH unit Offensive line.... You miss Ronnie? Not me.
the panthers are 25th against the run for a reason. They stacked guys in the box and it didn't help them. If you think that's gonna happen every week, you're wrong. Our offense did lack variety, the 1st and 3rd qtrs were proof of that. No points in either qtr. Avg. time of possession was 2-3 minutes. Only 4 first downs total. Didn't get into carolina territory in either qtr. yeah, we won. but lets keep it in perspective here. Our offense only showed up for 2 qtrs. This win says more about the panthers than it does about us. And yes, allow me to bring it out in the open, I do miss Ronnie Brown. (and i sincerely doubt im the only one) its easy to look at the 2nd and 4th qtr and forget ronnie. But during that 1st and 3rd, it certainly looked like our offense was missing its most dynamic player.
