...when Y. Bell ran down D. Williams? I didn't realize Bell had that kind of speed. I remember he ran down Jamaal Charles in KC last year, but that kind of cold turf game slows down everyone. Hell of an effort by Bell.
that was a huge tackle. had bell not made that tackle, it obviously would have been six points for carolina. if you remember delhomme wasted little time in throwing a pick after that, we prevented them from capitalizing on that williams run by not letting them see any points. Bell & Nate get honors on that drive.
i knew bell was fast.....he chased down jamaal charles against KC last year.....and he didnt even have a good angle.....it was all speed, the dude is very football fast
I think it was wow, or maybe **** yeah! but whatever, it was a great tackle and a real momentum killer. Getting six points right then could have changed the game.
Yes, especially as it looked - at first - that D. Williams was about to fly right past him (that guy just looks so fast). Saw Bell's quote on this - he doesn't hide the fact that he thinks he's fast, and I guess he showed us, right! Saved a TD as it turned out!!
if i recall right.....crowder filled and took on the fullback....ayodele completley missed his scrape assignment behind crowder and blew the play......imo it was ayodeles fault williams broke that run, not crowder.......channing filled correctly and took on the blocker, the other ILB has to scrape and make the tackle....he was too slow
That was a great play and arguably was one of those 'difference in the game' type of plays. I also agree that Ayodele was at fault there not Crowder.
Frankly I was surprised. Once D Williams turned that corner I thought he was gone. Heck of an effort by YB to chase him down.
I was surprised, and relieved to see YB pull that out, I didn't think he'd make it. But at the end of the day that wasn't a super play, it was what he's payed to go out there and do, and he did it. If he whiffed the tackle, or hadn't been in the vicinity we'd be talking about how Bell let him get past the secondary into the Endzone. But still, props on doing his job like he should have, it's always good to see and boost our confidence, as fans, in the players.
I liked that it was a solid tackle, he didn't just try to dive and swat at a foot, he locked and and brought him down hard
That was a huge effort and hustle play by Bell to run down D. Williams, the #2 RB in the league IMO. But, it helped that he did have a slight angle and for a sheer display of speed the one against Charles in KC, a sub 4.4 guy, was more impressive.
Millen mentioned that in game. Said when teams play a 3-4 it's imperative that all up from make the correct reads and pointed out, a couple of times, when Akin did not do his job correctly. Result; big running plays up the middle.
I think it was one of the differences in the game. It was very similar to RW's run that got us to 24. The difference was that their S didn't make the tackle and we got the TD. When DW broke free, Bell did make the tackle and we got the INT on the next play. So yeah, Bell was just doing his job, but you could say that about most every play. It was a hell of an effort by Bell. I didn't think he had the speed to get to DW on that play so his getting there impressed me and was definitely worth a "wow".
secondary really coming into its own. two young CBs and a young S with clemons... Bell can def. hold this group together Gibril though im not sure, after they lit the fire under his *** he has been playin better. but i always seem to see #30 more then #28
IIRC Bell ran a 4.37 before he tore his Achilles. I don't know what he runs now. The biggest thing Bell has done the last two weeks is to get his hands on some passes. Heading into NE he had 1 pass defended all year. That aint't good.
I never realized he was that fast originally. Although he probably lost half a step since the injury. I really want that eraser type S. The guy that erases the mistakes made in front of him. IMO S, NT (in a 3-4) and pass rushers are the most important defensive positions. CB used to be on the list but the rules have marginalized their impact a bit. If you've got studs at those main three positions you can have a dominant D with just decent to good players every where else.
