They're both excellent backs. End of story.

Also, FWIW, Ricky is the most talented back I have ever seen. What he did back in 2002-2003 was truly unbelievable and I feel blessed to have witnessed it. And let's be honest, he was running behind lines anchored by Tim Ruddy, that were mediocre at best.

Its a shame that Wannstedt was never able to bring in other offensive weapons to compliment Ricky, instead opting to run him into the ground. If he was handled appropriately, he might have went down as one of the best of all time.

Well, again.. I'd argue that Carolina's coaches kept them out of the endzone. I'm still trying to figure out exactly why the Carolina coaching staff decided to drop back with Delhomme on 3 straight plays in the Red Zone during their 1st quarter scoring drive. Hell, Williams averaged about 9.5 YPC last night and he ONLY got 12 touches. Think about that for a second, its asinine.

If that was Dan Henning these boards would have imploded.

Wow, you sound like you need a hug.
I love Ricky and everything he means and has meant to the organization.
In his prime, he was a much better back than Ronnie will ever be....but don't let that take away from Ronnie and what he means to the team.
For the record Mr smartass, I didn't need to be on the sidelines. The fact that Ricky didn't handle the rock on our last offensive play was all I needed to very cleverly deduce.
Incidently, you mustve played Pro-ball with all the incredible insight you have provided. Which team did you play for? :shifty:

    Very very good post!!!
Of course, shall we study the offensive lines each has run behind?
Until this year, Ronnie hasn't had much.....at all.
IF Dan in his prime, coupled with Ricky, the Marks and Nat Moore had played together, we wouldve been looking at multiple championships and offensive numbers that would make Tammy Brady and his team envious....not to mention, it probably would have prolonged Rickys career.

ronnie is a versatile back that has shown he can do it all.
and the wildcat works because he can truck through tackles. if thats not hard nosed running over 9 guys in the box I don't know what to tell you.

it is what it is Friend Krypto  I have always felt Ricky was the best
    however
now, with the re-emergence of Ricky Williams
the Tandem will be twice as dangerous
need to focus on getting Ronnie under cotract
a fair & reasonable contract, then
play out our season to the best of our ability
& hope to see the Tandem up & running for 2010

Ronnie Brown is no second string running back on any team
great to have two starters that both bring a little different something to the game
here's hoping Ronnie is resigned & healthy in 2010

I want to go to the SuperBowl next year
can't afford to take a step backwards in year two of the rebuilding
we need everybody to step up & a return of the Tandem

    We will Contend in 2010!

Oh, there's no doubt that for a majority of his career here in Miami, Ronnie hasn't had a whole lot to work with in regards to the offensive line or offense in general.

Also, the reason I brought up the mediocre play of Ricky's offensive line in the early 2000's was to really drive home just how impressive those couple of years actually were (it wasn't a knock on Ronnie by any stretch), especially when you consider the fact that words like "great" were being used to describe guys like Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson in KC, who were nothing more than products running behind an All-World offensive line.

I shudder to think what a guy like Ricky would have done behind that line.

I agree it was one of the best single season performances that I have ever seen. That line may not have been the best, but let me say I have never seen a lineman be so physically dominate in all my time watching football. Of course I am referring to non other then Jamie Nails.

It happened because without Soliai already you need Matt Roth in there more.

Porter can't set the edge worth a damn. They were ripping runs to the left all night. That's where Roth should have been to set the edge. He played there switching up plenty of times last year, and was effective.

They stuck Roth in for the 2nd series and we were better against the run immediately.. But then they took him out again.

When you have Porter on that weakside, with Sean Smith who isn't the best tackler in the world, and Akin Ayodele who is not fast to the sideline, you will get burned against a top notch rushing team like the Panthers have.

We are very lucky that Carolina passed the ball 42 times and only rushed 27 times.. Those numbers have been reversed in Carolina's previous games as they haven't passed much.

If they stuck to the ground game the Panthers would have won.. they were getting very nice chunks on the ground when they did run. All the Carolina fans on their board are furious that they didn't run the ball more last night, and rightly so.

You would be too if you were in their shoes watching that terrible gameplan they had.. DeAngelo Williams with over 120 yards rushing on only 13 carries while a garbage QB like Delhomme throws over 40 passes ? Are you joking ?

    Really ?

On Carolina's first drive they had a 1st and goal at the 7 yard line.. And they pass 3 straight times on every down when they were running the ball down our throats earlier in the drive ???

Stupidity on their part.. DeAngelo Williams was eating us alive and tearing us apart, yet they only gave him 13 carries ?

I can just imagine the people here complaining on Dan Henning if he pulled the same garbage Carolina did yesterday with their incredibly stupid game plan.
