My family started playing this popular Christmas time game last year. I was introduced to the game where I work. For those that are not familiar with it, (and this is really a very broad description as there are many variables and different interpretations to the game), it's a game in which each player brings a generic gift, usually set at a certain value (this year, we set the value at $35). Then, after numbers are drawn, each player takes a turn either selecting a wrapped gift or stealing a gift that has already been opened. Like I said, that's a very broad description. And, there are many, many different interpretations to how the game is played. One is a sort of gag gift game in which you are supposed to basically bring/wrap stuff no one would really want. Like fruit cake. Another has you bring stuff from your house/garage that you don't use, or don't want. Like a picture frame. We don't play that kind of game. We want useful/appealing gifts that anyone might like (realizing there's still gonna be one or two that are the most appealing gifts in the whole game). That said, I'm kinda stuck on gift ideas. And, we're less than two weeks away from playing (my family does our Xmas celebration a couple of weeks ahead of Christmas due to time constraints and the logistics of getting everyone together). So, I'd really appreciate any ideas anyone wants to make. Again, $35 limit. A gender generic gift. Basically, think along the lines of something that you would like to get if you were the recipient. Thanks in advance!
If we're talking gifts for adults, how about a nice bottle of wie or champagne? Or if we're talking about adults and/or kids, movie gift cards.
Thanks for the suggestions FFF. And, I probably should've given more information as far as the participants go. Basically, it's my parents, an aunt and uncle (who are all obviously older, seniors essentially). Then there's a handful of middle aged folks. Now, while several of us enjoy a drink every now and then (myself included), the others are basically teetotalers. At any rate, if you or anyone else has any more suggestions, I'd be mighty obliged.
blank CD's/DVDs a gift card to a restaurant (if they're aunt/uncle/parents they could use it regardless of who gets it) that's what i have for the moment
did I say that out loud? think of the strippers you get.... coke is like bait for depraved strippers.
