Channing Crowder...does it get any worse?

If the Lb's get shored up this is a pretty darn good football team. One stud Wr would be needed as well though...

Crowder is not the problem. Look at the other MLB who is much worse. Crowder is no pro bowler but he is above average in this league

That isn't the quote he pulled out to reply to. His statement was that he would take Crowder over JL. That is a pretty clear cut statement. Now if you want to go back into other posts to try and pull out what he was really trying to say, more power to you. If he was trying to say something else, maybe he should have quoted something else.

But here it is again incase you had trouble understanding it:

i'am not sure, was that it?..it was a feeble attempt at a pass rush ,and like i said, a lack of discipline for the edge on his part..

agreed or TE if we cant get a receiver becuase we address the LB position. if we have a offseason where we bring in three new impact LBs and a legitimate seam busting TE I think we can wait one more year before we get our superstar receiver. I am really praying for Brandon Marshall in FA because he's the only legit number 1 receiver option I see. I think we could make a stab at a number 2 caliber receiver in FA or the draft but a number one is probably out of the question if we go defense.

we are a legitimate playoff team however, if we upgrade the LBs substantially. If we get Rolondo McClain and a legit OLB to start over Porter and Ayodele we will be in the playoffs guaranteed

If we were able to land Brandon Marshall and Rolando McClain - wow! I'd love that scenario to play out.

yeah our biggest need on offense and our biggest need on defense. If we can get both it will be a phenomenal offseason. we have to at least get one of them fixed though

Agreed, and I think at this rate it has to be LB before WR. I saw today that the only defense in the AFC that has surrendered more points than Miami was the Browns, and it wasn't by much. I'd almost even argue finding the answer at FS, whether or not it's Chris Clemons, could even be of higher priority.

Still, the thought at getting Brandon Marshall is very, very tempting.

If you think Crowder is an above average ILB in the NFL then you know nothing about the game of football.

And you certainly don't know squat about the position in the NFL, and the other players who play that position in the league

Oh yeah...several people have said they would rather have Crowder over Willis. Here is just one:

btw...Willis's numbers this year: 11 Games Started, 107 combined tackles, 76 solo tackles, 6 pass def, 2 int's, 1 TD, 2 forced fumbles. Yeah...Crowder is so much better...LMAO!

you can go back here and read all the people that just are so in love with Crowder that they would rather have him than Willis. http://forums.thephins.com/showthread.php?p=793828&highlight=crowder&page=2

Disagree about Crowder. He is just in the wrong system. He's much better suited to a 4-3 rather than a 3-4.

Sometimes it just has to be done. Especially when people just defend and support him because of the uniform he wears. I don't care who you are, just because you are on the team doesn't mean you aren't immune from being criticized. Hell, Marino and Shula weren't above this either. Posters are the same way. You make crazy statements, don't be surprised when they come back up later. :)

I know it's hard to believe but the guy playing next to him is even worse! We easily have the worse ILB unit in the league.
Did you see that horrible angle and how slow Ayodele looked trying to run down a friggin QB?

  18. Springveldt

Sadly that would be an upgrade to what we actually are. I'd take every single ILB combo in the league over ours.

What is there to indicate that he's above average? What category is he above average in? Has he ever even led the team in tackles?

Yes. If you're criticizing Channing's play in run support, wait until you watch James Laurinaitis try to stack and shed.

Why's that? The only thing that I have with McClain is that he's a bit stiff in the hips.

On the topic of Crowder, I have a hard time trying to figure out if we need a WR, NT, or set of ILBs in the next draft. However my guess is we pick up 2 ILBs within the first 3 rounds of the draft. It's clearly a need, and as much as I enjoy a freshly mowed field as the next guy, it's not what I'd much rather see someone in aqua and orange there protecting that spot.

My vote? We invest in a scarecrow to put in the middle of the field, I feel we'd get more production out of him. Maybe paint his face to look like Zach Thomas and it might catch the opposing team off guard.

Crowder is a little above average when he has a stud next to him. Unfortunately he is supposed to be the leader, or at least make some plays. He is just not that guy and he had plenty of chances to make some big plays on Sunday.

Surely keep him if you can get someone next to him that is THE GUY, the playmaker but I'd love to see him gone if they could do some miracles and get to inside Lb's. He is boarderline dirty and man, for a Lb that is not making plays, his mouth is constantly running and running and running. His mouth actually hurts the team imo because he gets the opponents so fired up and pissed off....

Actually, I am not sure he would be any good with an absolute stud next to him.
Watch and study him next game.
He plays with the same mentality he has when running his mouth.
There is a thoughtless, wreckless abandon.
He almost reminds me of a wreckless Knight character from a Monty Python movie, complete with eyes shut and flailing arms.
I am TOTALLY convinced the few plays he does make are nothing but complete and total blind luck

I've also ben hammered for saying this. I would rather have Greenwood back.

Crowder is far, far, far below average. Please watch a game or name three people not a dolphin better then him.

We should have cut him and kept Roth. At least Roth would do more then just stand there and watch the game.

Remember how many tackles Zach used to make? Crowder is but a shadow of that. Zach was what a linebacker is supposed to be (sans size). He's quick, fills the holes, is smart, and bottom line, makes plays.

Crowder is a no show half the time, at a position that should be making tons of tackles.

who was he going against? we are talking about 2010 do you feel comfortable going another year with taylor and porter on the outside?

porter has been pretty invisible for most of the year and granted alot of that is probaably due to his hammy but hamstring troubles and other various nagging injuries tend to crop up when you are ancient. his hammy is better now so maybe he's back or maybe he just played against a scrub. i remember padding our stats big time in the first buffalo game only to come back to earth once we played good teams again. we play new england next week. lets see how porter does then

and does'nt have the flexability, strength, or speed to be playing that type of game....he's soft everywhere, but his mouth...iam seeing a lackadasical effort and intensity when he's on the field....

We got screened to death yesterday...and he blew a golden oppurtunity for a loss in a desperate, flailing, wreckless, stiff, slow attempt to make a tackle... consistent as always.

Crowder is playing a completely different position. Crowder now is required to plug holes. Zach was used sideline to sideline.

That is what I am saying.

he looks pretty damn good the last 2 games.

when healthy..he has proven to be a pretty damn good comodity in today's pass heavy NFL.....a pass rusher.

that is why you go to a rotation type system and reduce peezy to a pass rusher role.

we have over played JT as well IMO.

Part of the lure of Joey, and why we want him on our team is for the emotional aspect he brings to a team, he's the guy thats supposed to get us to play like crazed dogs..

I dont believe he's doing a good job in that aspect..

You don't become a top run defense if both your inside linebackers ride to the game on a special bus. We don't know exactly what their assignments have been, but they must have successfully completed them at least a few times over the course of the season.

    Just my two cents.
