    Well away from here
Really? How does he control a ball that is out of his hand? A tip doesn't happen when it is in his hand for the most past otherwise it might be a fumble. So after he has released the ball what exactly is he supposed to do? Seriously, I would love to hear this.

Do you think the lineman jump way before he throws the ball, or when he is about to? If they jumped early, he could probably get the ball around them, much like QB's do a good deal of the time.

Unless there an issue with his delivery being routinely low, which has never been mentioned in any evaluation, most coaches will talk to the offensive lineman rather than a QB regarding this issue inquiring as to how are these player routinely getting their hands up? How are they jumping without getting pushed etc.

i agree. aside from that he is still learning and is inexp being down that far and having things unravel like that, he will learn. 1 bad vs 3 really impreesive comebacks is reason enough to chalk it up to exp.

    overreaction imo

Do I think Henne has regressed. Just a bit. Time for alarm? Not yet. Did he have a bad game, yes.

Tipped balls, getting hit, it's all the same, it's still an INT. If he felt the pressure maybe he doesn't throw the ball. The tipped balls, well he should have found a lane. Drew Brees is short. How many tipped balls does he throw? On a per pass basis, not much. Quick slide and quick release counter that.

So no, Henne is not completely absolved from these mistakes. They're not egregious mistakes, but they are things a better QB doesn't have happen to him often. But he's in his first year of starting. This doesn't ring his death knell as a starter.

All qb's have tipped balls, some more than others. Seems when they come, they come in groups, like a particular team has a read on the qb. Unless a qb has an abnormally high amount of tips on a fairly regular basis, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

No way do I put blame on Henne for this game. Statistically speaking, a poor game, but he usually has about 150-200 yards passing, cause we don't go pass wacky as a norm. Did he win the game for us? No, but that doesn't mean he lost it for us. He is doing a good job of being a game manager, which is what he is being asked to do. I expect he will grow into a qb who can take the game on his shoulders and carry the team, but he's not there yet. Few qb's are able to do that in their first season starting in the NFL.

I like what the team is saying - no one is pointing fingers - win as a team, lose as a team. if you lose, you all work to improve. As long as they move forward that way, the team is greater than it's individuals.

Henne will be fine. However, I do believe we could of won this game with Pennington. What's the point of having a QB with a rocket arm if he doesn't use it? I know we need better receivers but throwing downfield once isn't going to stretch a defense. If only Ginn knew how to get seperation at the line...

    was Beck the answer?
I don't know. don't look good to me.
    however
he's got the rest of this year to make his bones
no reason to rush to judgement
it is what it is, an opportunity to prove himself

??am I missing something?? the threat he could have been/potential he had season one was more impressive than season two and now. what developement are you referring to? he certainly did not 'spark' any drives with his kick returning against Buffalo....

In all serious I'm not sure if Henne is the answer or not. I know my opinion has become a highly unpopular one on the subject, but I won't throw away my analysis of a player simply because he is a Dolphin.

It concerns me that he does have a poor feel for pressure. Beyond that he doesn't seem to make any pre snap reads. What I mean, is that it often looks to me like he is completely surprised with the blitz. A lot of times the offensive line has been able to pick up that blitz enough to keep him in his rythme. However when that rythme breaks Henne has been far from impressive.

I also have a problem with his ability to throw consistantly. There have been a few drops by receivers over the middle of the field. However these drops were balls they had to fully extend their hands UPWARDS in order to try and catch. Not to mention these were hard thrown balls. Also missing wide on a good many throws. As well as underthrowing Ginn on 2-4 streak routes so far this season.

On short passes he has looked great. Those are rythme passes. The passes he could throw with his eyes closed. Obviously he is young, but what bothers me the most is that he has shown minimal improvement in his trouble areas over the last five years. Starting with college and going into his sixth year now. Obviously he has the physical tools, and the mental tools as far as preparation. However I'm not sold on his ON THE FIELD mental tools, as far as being a cerebral player.

Too early to tell. We probably won't know for another year. The past should have taught our front office one thing, though: no matter who's starting, if we have a shot at a sure-fire franchise QB, we should take it.

It's the inability to keep the drive going and to win games early when your team is dominating. A lot of his passes were high and uncatchable.

The meltdown is, there was nothing there and Henne should have took the sack, I can see 1 pick, but 2...?

    Take the sack.

My main point is, he doesn't seem to get any better as the season wears on.

This should have been an automatic win.

Henne had a bad game. Actually, a bad half; most of the game I was marveling at how heady he plays for a guy starting only his 5th game.

On the other hand: what does concern me is that he's not a rookie, despite being a new starter, yet he's making rookie mistakes.

Get him better protection and an OC who doesn't mentally disconnect in the middle of drives and he's back to performing like he did in the 1st half.

Believe me....Henning is far..far from senseless. I dont really agree with that call in that spot....but I do think it was a call he could have made later in the game...

I believe Henning and Sparano knew without a shadow of a doubt, we did not need that play call to score....I think the reason they made that call...was to get it in there for the Pats to see...so they have to protect against that next week.....

I think thats a great call to make...just not in this spot. In my mind...you kill an opponent like the Bills early...and you take away any reason for them to fight. Score there by running it.....

Then kick off...put Cam Wake out...maybe Charlie Anderson who seems to be quicker off the edge than Peezy...and blitz, blitz...and blitz some more. Make Ryan Fitzs world suck big time....

Later in the game...after we are in total control....then..thats the time to call the Ricky throw....if it gets picked when we are already up by 17...the Bills are already so beaten, theres no momentum shift.

I laughed when I read this. Let's show The Patriots our trickery so we can run it on them next week? Huh.
You think they were thinking about the following week on the first offensive drive of the Bills game.
    You overthought this one pal.
If Henning was calling this game for next week he is more senile than I thought.

No, I don't think they would have passed against the Pats next week, but I do think we will have some goal line chances next week where Ricky willbe in the WC..and it definately makes sense to give them pause if they have to defend the pass in that case. If u don't think teams set each other up like that..your crazy.

Control the ball after its out of his hand? Who said anything about that?

Henne said it himself: "I guess I've got to start throwing the ball a little higher".

2 out of the last 3 games, lost...and those sucky Miami Dolphins gave a better showing against the 2 teams who beat the Pats. Its time for Brady to go. The writing's on the wall.

Some of you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss the OP.

    He's got some valid points.

    Look at it this way.

Wasn't CRAIG ERICKSON the 'next' QB of the future back in the day after a couple of good showings? How'd that turn out?

    What about Damon Huard?...yeah...

    Nevermind Scott Mitchell....

I wont even start with the most recent 'saviors'...

Point is...the kid has a decent win/loss record this season but honestly he is still VERY raw.

We'll see how he bounces back, but everything I have seen from him so far tells me he still needs some more polish, maturing whatever you want to call it.

Is he the answer for the future? Let's see how he bounces back and if he can get this team in the playoffs or at least still have this team relevant by week 16.

(which BTW is STILL a very real possibility)

We can always site a play, a player or an era, but the Dolphins never get any better at what they do. We could be worse, I assume, like the Bucs, but the issue is, we need to keep getting better.

If you notice, the Saints atack, attack and attack....

I have always said. Tom Brady is way overrated, the reason the Patriots excel, is because they attack.

Brady is really just an average QB.

You recall when we had Marino, it was always, we had to have balance and we blamed Marino for his hand-offs.

But no, we should have always drafted and brought in receivers and attacked teams with Marino, but instead, we had to have balance and control the clock, but, we should have instead used had a 5 receiver set with Dan..

Drew Brees, a player we should have drafted or signed, and clearly could have (all be damned 2X), made a mockery of the traditional style of football, control the clock, sit on a lead, etc.....

They (the Saints) play to win..... but that being said, they wont win the Super Bowl......

    I guarantee it....

    d-1

I would put it this way in regards to Henne. Is he where we need him to be to feel comfortable he is the franchise QB we have been looking for? No.......Is he doing better than can reasonably be expected for his first year starting...yes. Obviously its too early to make any final proclamations and its important we watch the flaws in his game to see that they are disappearing as he improves but it also fine to relax a little and say things look good for the first time since Marino. Its too early to pop the champagne but not too early to sneak in a little beer

Ronnie we pretty much controlled this game, but Henne's 2 picks clearly took the wind out of the sails from our defense.

This loss has to go on the shoulders of Henne, but the ultimate question is, can you build long term wise with Henne as your franchise QB....?

The only reason the Colts and the Saints are undefeated is because of their play from their QB's. (Primarily)

I feel the Dolphins need to open up the passing offense a little more.

We were leading the league in rushing yards, yet we sit at 5-6.

Can the Dolphins get a wildcard at 9-7...?

Henne has a great game against the Jets and he is the next Marino, and he has a bad game and hes the next ryan leaf. He has only thrown 3 ints before this game, as a starter. He makes good decisions with the occasional rookie mistake, and yeah he is in his second year, but this is his first year in the NFL as a starter. this thread just makes me mad as a dolphin fan...

henne has the rest of the year to make his bones
    & I hope does.
we need a franchise qb to step up as soon as possible

however, he has to do it
    without excuses & in 2009
Pennington threw to the same receivers with success
henne has been training with these receivers
    & offensive system for a year & a half
    this is a tremendous advantage
    there can be no excuses,
he has the rest of the season to get it right

no one threw him to the wolves, like they did Beck
henne was groomed for the start by one of the best
& ordained our future & answer @ QB
no more excuses. he is the only one that can answer the call
henne has the rest of the year to get it together
we don't need a great back-up, we need a starter
w/o the Franchise QB we go nowhere

the most critical thing that will come out of this year is the development of Henne as the Franchise QB
or the knowledge that we have to find one:tantrum:

henne has been compared to Flacco & Ryan
let him make good on the comparison
we really need a Flacco or Ryan to emerge
