I was just over at nfl.com looking at stats and something caught my eye.
Ted Ginn was ranked 95 th going into the Buffalo games in reception yards but he is now ranked 112th but what really caught my attention is who was ranked 111th, it was Brian Hartline. These stats show that a rookie who is getting less playing time is performing better than Ted Ginn Jr. These stats don't lie, many say Ginn stretches the field but if you take a look at yards per catch you will notice Hartline gets over 5 more yards per catch. Here are the stats you can head over to verify the stats.

    111 Brian Hartline MIA WR 17 270 15.9 2 Tds
    112 Ted Ginn Jr. MIA WR 25 268 10.7 1 Td

Those haters at NFL.com..........can't they see we're using him wrong? :shifty:

Congrats track star, you're being out played by a rookie 4th round pick.

Ginn supporters will tell you but hes does more on special teams etc.. Anything to make themselves feel better about the stiff.

I did a comparrison on him vs Greg Camarillo and Bess are outplaying him pretty good as well.

The fact of the matter is people say who you going to replace him with? No-one and even if he caught on fire these last few games hes gone after this year. The ONLY reason hes playing is because they are trying to get some STATS for a trade of anything instead of a plain out cut.

Hes gone after this year, he has to be hes not even a GOOD #2 he cant catch a ball.

Looks like CAMS guys are all on the way out.

And those of you who still like him. Think about those two game where we WOULD have won if he would have made a damn catch... We would be 7-4 right now and tied for 1st place in the division with a shot at the playoffs. How do you feel now?

I think by the end of this season Bess is going to have caught up to Ginn in career receptions or at least he will be very close. Right now Bess has 103 and Ginn has 115.

BTW, Bess is on pace to catch 71 passes which would be a top 10 in Fins history by a WR.

And his Yards Per Catch is 8.8, good enough for 235th in the NFL.

to be fair if youre going to lay the blame on ginn and not the defnse in indy (and i dont know what your 2nd gm is) then you need to give miami 2 victories to ginn. both of the jets games are losses if we dont have ginn using your logic. so at worse we break even by having ginn and have the same record we would have if he wasnt here but since noone seriously blames ginn and not the defense in the indy loss (and i still dont know what this second game is) he is basically a plus 2 for us in the winloss column. and this coming from someone who doesnt like ginn but doesnt hate him either. someone who just wants to see everything play out before making my decision

as much as I dislike Ginn (as a player) I have to agree that he was a key player in both of the Jets games.

Fair enough. Let's strip out the folks with insignificant catches. For the purposes of this argument, we'll dump anyone with less than 10 catches. That should give us an equal sample size to look at.

If we do that Davone Bess ranks as #163 in terms of yards per catch. Again, I don't discount that he's a reception machine - he is, but in terms of what he's doing when he catches the ball, the answer is not much.

30 of his 49 receptions have resulted in first downs... that alone is good enough for me.

BTW, Bess' career YAC is 4.4 vs Ginns 3.5
    Hartlines YAC is 6.2

Look, I aam not saying Bess is the best thing since slided bread BUT the guy serves a function on our team AND he is the best receiver we have on the team (like it or not)

Here's the whole team (I guessed someone would ask):

    Brian Hartline: 15.9 / 22nd
    Ted Ginn: 10.7 / 114th
    Ricky Williams: 10.6 / 119
    Joey Haynos: 10.4 / 122
    Greg Camarillo: 10.0 / 127
    Anthony Fasano: 9.8 / 138
    Davone Bess: 8.8 / 163
    Ronnie Brown: 7.0 / 196

That fact that they are both under 5.0 is concerning to me ... Ginn averaged 5.1 YAC last season ... this season it's at 0.9. Bess also averaged 5.1, this season it's dropped to 3.5. So, when they are catching the ball, they're doing less with it.

pennington was better at hitting you in stride. We're in a catch 22 right now. Our QB needs better receivers to help him out and our receivers need a more accurate QB to hit them in stride so that they can create YAC. As much as we are focused on our receivers we absolutely have to have Henne work on his accuracy in the offseason . He has to improve hitting the receivers in stride. Right now he's getting the ball to them but its in a 3 or 4 ft radius. He needs to shrink that to a 1 or 2 ft radius

    Yep  exactly.
I think we will actually be praising Hartline as our best WR by seasons end.

I also have very little doubt that Bess will have more career receptions than Ginn by seasons end.
Somebody needs to remind Bess its not his third season yet :shifty:

    Ginn Vs hartline

I would take hartline and never look back

the guy has taken a few good hits and held on to the ball, also he catches and trys to get extra yards after the catch

While i think this is awesome and want bess to remain a dolphin, he does not have a single TD. Hes not the type of reciever that should be scoring a whole lot but i think he should have at least a few. This is why we still need a scoring threat receiver to go along with camarillo, hartline and bess. Unfortunately Ginn needs to go.

Taking hits means absolutely nothing when your a Wr like Ginn. I want him to run out of bounds if he's about to take a good hit. He's not built for it.

One thing you said means everything when talking about Ginn. If he held onto the ball more!!

If he did that, we'd see his YAC improve, and to be fair, if Henne could get him the ball (if he could hold on to it) more on the deeper routes, his YAC would increase big tim. He's been wide wide open more than a few times, only to see the ball go elsewhere.

That's been a huge if this year though...

Do you realize that regardless of how many threads you start, he's not going to go away for at least a few more months?

I think it's pretty safe to say that we get the point that more than half of the fan base dislikes Ginn. Constant bashing of the player on these boards is becoming ridiculous and pointless.
