Why don't the Dolphins match Randy Moss' size with Sean Smith's?

Randy Moss's speed is still a problem for Smith however Davis and Smith stay on the same side of the field all game and don't really move

Davis is much more physical and has better ball skills.

yeah i thought thats why they drafted him, maybe oits a rookie thing but if we keep our CBs playing sides we will allow the offense to pick and choose the matchups. I prefer Vontae on the speed guys and smith on the big guys. maybe next year they will be allowed to matchup

That makes sense....get them familiar with their assignments then give them new ones for the upcoming season. Works for me.

And when we play a speedy big guy? :shifty:

I dont care who covers moss really, we need safety help. Have 1 safety just shadow him preventing the long ball. The second safety plays welker and faulk short like the Saints did.

And our DL had better get some pressure. The Saints DL isnt really better than ours but they had their way with the Pats all game it seemed.

It was their ability to zone blitz from the OUTSIDE. Man coverage almost dictates blitz pressure from the middle of the field and we play too much of it. When we can play zone and everyone remembers their assignment against motion and change of strength, we too can blitz from everywhere. The announcers (in the Saints game) were so busy singing the praises of the (off the street) corners coverage that they forgot to mention that it was indeed the VETERAN savvy (in the secondary) that allowed the Saints to blitz from all over the field.

    On a similar note:

Brandon Meriweather had a brain fart that allowed the Saint's receiver to run unmolested 60 yards down the field - it was a fine example of what every coach fears from their inexperienced secondary. The blitz comes from the nickel. Meriweather could not shop for a play. It was a man on man assignment and he had a brain fart.

This ain't exactly a mystery. Check it out at 1:00 in the video. The linebackers drop to hook zones. Everyone else is man on man. It just goes to show that even though they are professionals - when you get to calling coverage after coverage, it can eventually sneak up and bite you in the butt.

I think it has more to do with the side of the field. Our CBs don't switch sides.

The way to take Moss out of the game is hit him hit him good hit him often. He doesnt like contact. If he gets hit quick and knows he is going to take a good hit on ball contact like the saints game for instants he backs out and becomes stagnant his effort just goes away. So i believe it would be best for Smith to cover him and Davis be back in good shape to hit if he reaches for the ball. He has never liked aggressive hitting, one reason he would rarely go across the middle.

Could be the fact that atm Smith sucks at press coverage. And failing the press on Moss is a bad thing.

Its a pretty strict alignment when your asking your hobbled corner to stick with randy moss because the defense says so..maybe a little flexability?..i guess its best for them to learn the defense on their side first.
