Hmm I would say something, but I said it all in all the other Ginn threads on here.. But, congrats Ted Ginn Jr. I support you and always have!!!!!
After last season I was thinking he'd end up being a top 5 WR in the AFC this season, boy was I wrong!
Well from a positive perspective in the past four drafts two of our first round picks have been a helluva good special teams player... I mean yes Jason Allen is a HORRIBLE defensive back, but boy he is almost always that first guy making the play on the return man! And Ginn if he were returning kicks ALL year Im pretty sure would have another return on his resume, i mean who cares if he cant catch? So raise your glasses in hopes that we can draft another great special teamer with our first pick in 2010.
wow. this thread starts off as a praise to the good work ted ginn DOES do and turns into a thread about all the stuff he DOESN'T do. can't even the ted ginn haters be happy he has had a good season at return man? not to mention that one catch in triple coverage this year against the jets where he's burning all three of them and makes the grab in stride. not to mention the catch last year where it's one handed in the back of the endzone. i agree about him not playing up to the pick, but he has made some spectacular catches and some spectacular returns for us.. and has legitimately helped us win ball games. you wanna talk about flogging a dead horse. i don't think there's meat or bones left.
i think it comes down to the negatives far outweigh the positives bro......thats why people are upset.... believe me the ginn lovers are just as bad....taking a few bright spots in a horrible season/career and making him seem like a real good player or something...
Wanna Be GM Wanna Be HC Wanna Be OC Wanna Be DC Wanna Be Player Ya know the formula: Internet + Keyboard + Dolphins Fan who expects every play and every player to be perfect and WINS allow these Wanna Be's to claim all mistakes are acceptable otherwise a LOSS means heads should roll - (Couch + Beer) x Body Weight/Height = WANNA BE's
i understand why people are upset. and i'm not sure if i'm a ted ginn lover or hater. i just can't make up my mind, but I will give credit where credit is due. I'm just tired of seeing all the negativity about one guy it seems. there are 52 other players on this team who don't help win ball games on sunday. yes some of them have had incredible success this year (randy starks for example) but as a team they don't get the job done. i usually try and keep my emotions in check but this is the thread that broke the straw on the camels back. this was posted to give ginn accolades in the part of the game that he is good at and it goes to ****. i truly do understand that we could have had several other players which are still picks of need for us at this point (LB etc) at that #9 pick but we can't go back and we have who we have. thankfully the regime has changed since then and made (IMO) decent draft picks with their first rounders at very least. like you said in a post a while ago about wanting to see ginn do good because he helps the dolphins out if he does and it's WIN/WIN. well this is something he does good and i just don't understand why the thread turned into a ginn argument. mainly because i don't understand what's left to argue against.
agreed man, hes a good kick returner.....and like you said people are beating a dead horse when they keep on with the same stuff putting him down.....but its not gunna change bro, just brush it off lol
I know no one will like hearing this but oh well. The guy is a very good returner...sometimes. His returning against the jets was awesome and then a few other times in the month he had some solid returns. However, being at the bills game id have to say his returning was very unimpressive then. He consistently looks for the sideline. This is football, you get hit. If you dont like getting hit then what are you doing playing the game. Yes, there are times where you go out of bounds but he uses it as an escape route way too many times. As soon as he catches the ball he runs directly to the sideline.
This is pretty unfair. Most of the people that even defend Ginn is not because they think he is an all-star, but because the "Ginn haters" or whatever you want to call them are rather irrational. I would say he has had a horrible season at wide receiver, but saying he's had a horrible career thus far is irrational as well. He's out performed a hell of a lot of first round draft picks at wide receiver. I had done a thread earlier this year that said Ginn out-performed over 2/3 of wide receivers drafted since the mid 1990's whom were drafted between #7 overall and #32 overall. No one is calling Ginn a #1 receiver nor are they making him out to be a "real good player." Most people are just saying he's an exceptional returnman (see second Jets win) and a good deep threat that has potential to be a very good #2. Maybe you didn't pay attention to this, but I did at the Carolina game. Practically every time Ginn was on the field, the safety rolled over to his side. Whether you like to admit it or not, teams will respect Ginn's speed. Ginn does get separation, he just has a lot of trouble bringing down a ball that is over his head. I think this can be fixed (see Devery Henderson before and now) over time so this is why I am more patient than most posters on this board.
Ginn supporters are just as much to blame as the Ginn bashers.....the guy does ANYTHING and the supporters start making threads with the sole intention of throwing it in the bashers faces. Both sides get carried away and make things worse I'm happy he won the award, maybe it'll help make him easier to unload on another team in the off season. Not bashing him, it's just what I would like to see...
ok, i did not intend to say it that way. allow me to correct myself. He runs diagonally to the sidelines and out of bounds gaining 15-20 yards purely on speed instead of using his blockers or even taking on contact to try to gain that extra yard. Also, i was referring to the bills game. Obviously he would be unable to score TDs if he was running out of bounds.
He got it for 1 game. Take away the Jets game and he avg 23 yards per return. Yawn....wow, a whole extra 3 yards return (than a touchback). Big deal.
We only played four games in the month. Taking away 25% of his total will obviously change the results. Also, basically single handedly winning a game with two kickoff returns for touchdowns should win you the Special Teams Player of the Month every time.
"Return Specialist and Jet Wash," If it runs, and isn't left out where it doesn't belong, theres space in the garage for him, alongside Pat "the minibike" White.
That's a terrible way to look at it. He's having a tough year, but he's been good on ST. Give him his due, both good and bad. Too many people want to focus on what he's done bad this year, and ignore the good. Posted via Mobile Device
Exactly, there is a difference between just FanBoying and having some perspective, Ginn's year as a Wr has been admittedly poor, his season as a Returner has been quite good. My target for him was 2,000 total yards, but he started returning kicks to late in the year to reach that, though he has been back unto punts. 900 yds in 5 games is a bit steep, possible, but really steep.
Eh, Cribbs might go. I hope Ted can get another TD, as that would all but cement him in. But I don't think it's a definite yet. I do think we should just put Ginn in as the full time PR though.
That would be tremendous HiDef, Ginn has another big return game in him, maybe two, the Patsies, Titans, Jags and Steelers all have poor kick coverage units. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/byteam?group=Special&cat=Kicking they average giving up more than 24 yds per return and three (pats, titans, steelers) have given up at least one TD.
I did...when he had that game. However, what has he done since then? Nothing. I am sorry...1 game doesn't make a month, let alone a season. I won't get off until he does something to make me get off...week in and week out. Of course...you and I know that won't happen. What has he shown that says it will happen? Nothing. That being said...I hope he does out there today and has a 100 yard receiving day, 2 TD's, and we whip the Pats ***. Prove me wrong Teddy...Go out there and light it up like the superstar you are supposed to be! PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG because I want nothing more than for him to be successful so the team is successful.
