I liked Henne before. This is the first time he really showed his "stuff.' I was impressed. No WC, and ONE HELL OF A GAME!!!
Agreed. Chad Henne was awesome today. Now, imagine if we had someone to go along with Bess, Camarillo, and Hartline.
He had a few misses on open receivers, he had more tips, which is disturbing. He also beat Mr Bill, almost single-handedly. Can we all say SLUGGO CHAD?
I believe this was Henne's "Coming Out Party." I believe that he now believes he can make a difference. I don't think he had that confidence before this game. There was no Wild Cat crutch. It was all on Henne, and he did deliver.
May my ***, we have our franchise QB. Chad Henne got his chance to win this game with his arm and he came through. He missed a few throws but made some terrific ones...a lot of terrific ones. Another 4th quarter comeback to add to his total. That's 3 in 9 starts. I already was sold on him and this game just reminded me why. Great job Henne!
He missed some big throws, but he made some big throws. He's a rookie. He made some throws that just made you think...WOW, whether good or bad. There has been so much more good than bad with this guy all year long. Once he develops that soft touch, especially over the middle like Pennington has...WATCH OUT.
52 passes, 27 runs. Hold your hand up if you saw that coming. Hold both hands up and please share all your lottery tickets with me if you predicted that we would do that and win!!
Anybody know what the record is for most 4th QTR comebacks in your first X amount of starts are? It seems as if 50% of his starts now have included a 4th QTR come back. That is pretty impressive. With a true #1, and an upgrade at TE with Fasano backing whoever up, Henne is going to be a top 10, possibly top 5 QB. If you would have told me Miami was coming back against the Patriots after falling 14-0 I would have thought you'd been drinking too much.
In other news, I can't believe i have to watch the first quarter of Boys-Giants instead of Saints-Washington overtime.
Aside from Dan The Man, I have not seen a better game by any Dolphin QB. As Simms said, Henne is just getting better and better. Let's also not forget what Penne had to do with his development. He is making smart choices.
first year starter on a team with very good wrs but arent stretch the field types, vs one the leagues best in a game where the season is on the line, he played awesome, is it throws he made that makes me think this? Nope? Was it the throws he missed? Nope. It was the FACT that he stayed teh same demeanor wise good throws and bad throws. he didnt panic on bad throws, he didnt get overhyped on good ones. He just acted like he was doing what he was supposed to do. As if this is me, this is what I do. Confidence and poise, never wavering in the belief in himself and what they were doing. In teh post game, I loved hearing him say he loved having the ball and putting it in his hands he said it was fun, to quote a movie, yes a movie I know, but I like the quote, ...."Winners want the ball when the game is on the line" Replacements.
He played a great game, and I do think we've found our Franchise QB, however he still has things to work on. The amount of ball tips we saw this game is concerning. Is that on his release, or is that on the line not doing a good job of pass protection? There were a few passes, especially that zippy one to Bess that really needed to be thrown better. But at the end of the day if those are the only things we can look at from his play today, and question, then I think we're in good shape. Those things are things that can probably be corrected. Especially if we make some upgrades to the receivers. It was a pretty darn good day all around for the offense.
I believe every fault Chad Henne has...are ones that will improve with experience. But..every QB has their faults.... Brady is not Brady when he's under pressure. Take away Wes Welker..and he isnt as good. He loves his security blanket. Which is why Miami shut NE down in the end..because they shut Welker down. They got physical with him. Manning is another that isnt good with pressure...but it doesnt affect him like Brady. But they both have their faults....every QB does. As long as Henne's strengths way overshadow his faults...he's gonna be prime time....
I just wonder if, or how much the WC might have affected Henne's development. I know when RB was playing, the WC was doing some good things but it must have been difficult for Henne to get any rhythm going when he kept getting pulled out for the WC. As important as Henne's play is, its just as important the leadership qualities Henne brings to the team. His cool and calm demeanor has to be a good example for his team and an inspiration to the other players.
I think FFIC made a strong argument earlier this season about ditching the WC and letting Henne run a conventional offense. I didn't totally agree at the time but hindsight is 20/20. I now think he was right. Let's pull the plug on the WC and just let Henne get his reps in the rest of the season. Besides, the Wildcat is not the Wildcat without 23. I start yelling every time I see Pat White on the field because I know it's going to be another drive that stalls.
I am very high on Henne. I've said it before, and I will say it again...he just needs playing time to develop, and he should be a solid QB at the very least, and possibly one of the upper echelon. And, he is already very poised and confident. I mean, you can just see it. And, he also has a short memory, which will serve him well, as there will undoubtedly be growing pains. But, the future looks very bright for #7 in aqua and orange.
He's continuing to mature, and he's had some very good games. Can't say for sure until he's had a couple seasons starting.
Thats what I was thinking, although not all those tips were at the LOS. and Henne is perfectly fine with pressure
