letting roth walk was a dumb move
takes away the depth there and now taylor is withering away

letting roth go was best for the strength of the overall program.

IMO we need to draft LBers this offseason anyway.. to me it's just making room early. although i kinda think it would have been nice to try and get a pick for him

    Whats the Browns record? 1-11?

Of course he would stand out on that crappy team, he couldnt get on the field here.

I wish him luck, but i really dont think we will miss him after this season.

couldn't get on the field here
you mean beacause he was hurt
do you even know what roth accomplished last season in his transition
from defensive end to outside linebacker
now taylor has fallen off the map
    roth is 26 years old
    jason taylor is 35
he would have been on the field
if the dolphins weren't so stubborn and idiotic about the whole situation

he hadn't been hurt recently and his production had dropped off.

that and he lied to his coaches and the people in charge. i see no reason to keep someone like that around.

Roth wss good but not great, u act like we cut an in his prime JT type player. this team keeps in house - in house. they had a reason, what I dont know, but I would bet it was not as much talent as it was attitude contrary to the team chemistry, cause of dissension butting heads type issue that the trio cut the head off beffore it infested the team.

Roth was not elite that they change their ways to accomodate

Our ability to set the edge has not been negatively impacted all season with Roth's absence. No team has really effectively run the ball against us all season. They guy was cut for a reason: he just wasn't very good and he's a liar.

I like our rotation of Porter, JT, Anderson, and Wake. Screw Matt Roth and his tattoos.

I can't believe people are still trying to defend Matt Roth.

What's your point? That JT over-persues and Roth doesn't? Some announcer during a game tells you that Matt Roth is a great edge-setter and everyone eats it up like ice cream.

They guy got cut. If he was worth a damn, Parcells woulda kept him.

Even I can't see him being gone any big deal.
    I think we've got a good D and it's getting better.

And if he did lie to Tony and the fo, good riddance. I can't stand out right lying.(if he did)

Our defense struggles because we lack speed. Roth being on the field would have been more of a liability than anything.

i was an advocate of getting Roth back on the field, but as it has been stated - JT has filled in sufficiently thus far ... and we need to find plays to get Wake on the field. And we still have Anderson (who showed some upside) ... regardless, the whole situation is disappointing. i'm sure we could have gotten something for him via trade during the offseason - so there has to be a 'story'

JT was bound to wear down ... but we have finally found some other players on our roster that can rotate in

jason taylor lied once but all was forgiven
we have dinosaurs at outside linebacker and have no one to develop behind them
we have other holes that need to be addressed during the draft
    the position needed young depth
    we gave it away

Gave what away? An average at best OLB who can thrive on a horrible team? Get over it. Roth had no room on this team because he isn't good, and there's 4 OLB's already on the team that is better. No one to develop? Cameron Wake? Quentin Moses? The rookies we're about to draft?

wake can't play with his hand up
moses trips over his own two feet
we will draft an outside linebacker or two but not always that easy
    there are other needs
    we did give roth away
at least try and trade him if nothing else
i know he was up before you go that direction

Disagree Bro, Roth is a good to really good OLB, for whatever reason we cut him loose.

JT, for better or worse, now mans Roth's old job at OLB, Roth was 27.

    finally a voice with reason
roth played in this system consistently last season
outside linebacker is a need somewhere in the draft but why give away young developed depth...
he is not the future "pass rusher in the 3-4" we all know
good upside for a player who walked out the door

Disagree about the upside, Roth was probably a 5 sack 50 tackle kind of player, and a liability in coverage tbh.

But as the article points out, JT is wearing down, we have Q Moses and C Anderson to fill in for him, and Anderson is more of a Will and so is Wake.

    Eh, it will work out.

If you'll re-read my post I said IF he did lie.

IF JT lied, yes, all was forgiven. He is back where he belongs.
As a player, roth is no where near the player JT was, and still is, in my opinion.

That is all. I feel no need to defend JT. He's proven himself over and over.

Plus, I wanted to tell you if JT did lie......He sure "looked" better doing it!:tongue2:
