You didn't exactly say it like it was your own opinion but thats what I figured so I posted mine. Thought you might have said it was your opinion the very next reply but you got it here.

The NFL loves Miami as a host. The people who go are corporate types that love to stay here and party a week before and a week after...

Anyone think we could possibly get an atmosphere like the Orange Bowl? If they add seats to make it closer or rearrange them somehow. Stat-The Dolphins won 75 percent of their home games and went undefeated at home 5 seasons in the Orange Bowl. At Dolphin Stadium they've won 60 percent and have never gone undefeated at home. Never underestimate the power of a loud @ss crowd. I hate these newer corporate stadiums.

The seats at Dolphin Stadium may be farther back then any other stadium right?

I would'nt want that stadium for anything...That team is gonna miss that old Texas stadium, it was one of the great homefield advantages...fans right on top of the field, an unmistaken vibe, and if the cowboy fans wanted to be loud, it was pure electricity..

Jerry Lones made a collossal error in not taking crowd noise and making it part of the identity and fabric of the blueprint..its soulless imo.

Iam going to make a vow to all of you..

If we ever get a chance to build a new stadium, i will picket in front of Ross and Parcells office and training camp with signs that say..

"Crowd noise".."makes millions of dollars"..The Orange bowl 2"!! The orange bowl 2"!!.

    Lol...who's with me?

I would also include "The U" in this deal, and combine the forces, bringing it to the public's attention, that crowd noise is going to be the #1 priority for this stadium, from the ground up.... I want it to be smack dab, front and center, in our everyday conversations, commercials, press releases, promotion, etc.

If anyone has noticed on the dolphins official website, they have a banner at the top that says, "crowd noise improves players performance's"...

Well, Do somethin about it, because our hands are tied. that stadium gives us no chance..

NOW THIS IS A SHOT IN THE DARK!! OK SO BARE WITH ME!

We have a great stadium built with owner money god bless ROBBIE.

Now money wise its hard to move seats closer because of the structure in place. The situations seems that we can't get new seats in because sight lines for the rest of the lower level fans.

IS IT POSSIBLE (AGAIN I SAY IM JUST THINKING HERE) THAT WE COULD DIG THE FIELD DEEPER AND CREATE THOSE NEW SEATS??? WHY NOT DIG OUT THE FIELD? now this still continues the poor game experience for upper level fans it does create a more intimate atmoshpere near the field. Put a over hang to trap crowd noise or put a huge dome on it costly though could create the noise needed .

EDIT: OK lets get creative, use those old light fixtures put up wind turbines go green power, then the staduim build a large over hang to create the atmospher and and put new lights closer to the field on said over hang. I hate the idea of green power when its still cheaper to use coal but heh im willing to compromise

But Sec, wouldn't that only effect the lower bowl? I mean, you can't move the Club/upper deck at all, right?

This would be fine for me since I sit in the lower bowl but the whole thing just sounds strange.

You can't "move" the upper bowl.

You would not want to start adding columns to the interior of the stadium.

The upper deck has to stay the same.

The easiest fix is to do what I said...even then, it is expensive.

You can;t do anything...(NADA) to the upper deck.

The only recourse to "moving " the upper deck closer is to add columns to the interior.

One way it can be done is to take away space from the lower bowl sections and "hide" the columns inside the concourse exits.

    It would look ugly...trust me.

My way is the easiest way and it can actually look pretty damn good.

the bigger question here is this...Roger Goodell is having a super bowl in the near future in a total dump in New Orleans...but our stadium isn't up to snuff?

    **** you Roger Goodell.

Problem is, if we dig too deep, we hit water due where we are geographically. It would have been a great idea if we were in, say, Alabama (where Troy University plays in a dug in stadium).

As a long time season ticket holder (since the OB) I am all for stadium renovations as long as they are 100% out of the owners, or the NFL's, pocket.

Not one penny should go towards this from the taxpayers. The stadium, as it is, is certainly good enough to host NFL games.

I suspect what Goodell was aiming for is more luxury/corporate boxes that the NFL can offer for sale for the Super Bowl, I "know' as fans we tend to think the seats are the cash cows, they really aren't, luxury boxes and licenses to participate in auctions for the chance to lease them are the real money makers.

I mean come on "sight lines"? What...50 seats? Luxury boxes book for millions of dollars, the plan fact is when Robbie built Landshark, such things were not the big cash cow they are now.

The NFL can be insanely greedy though, so nothing really surprises me with that lot.

For my .02 cents...REBUILD THE ORANGE BOWL!!! MOVE FANS CLOSER TO THE FIELD!!!

What the bears did to soldier field was awesome..

Its a simple dynamic you see, with the fans being very close to the players, the players feel like their playing more under a microscope, so it heightens their awareness..now you combine that with the tangible affect of feeling energy from the crowd, it literally, penetrates your body, which creates adrenalen..

When their away from you, you dont feel like your being watched, you can't feel the surge of the energy....

Did you feel that crowd in new orleans last monday nite?...we'll never have that unless we build the Orange bowl 2.

It is a huge disadvantage for our franchise, in the win column, and in the wallet.

You actually can add columns and end them at the back row of the lower bowl. Easily drawn up but major dollars to do...

By my calculation it won't work.

The weight load won't allow it.

The design would suffer a ton...trust me on this.

You would also take away all the space from the club seats...and remember that the club seats connect to the club concourse. You would lose a ton of square footage that is currently operating.

My way is easy...the upper deck has to stay the same.

You have prints of the stadium?

Unfortunate the sunken feature won't work out on that Penninsula you guys call a State.
I grew up watching College Basketball in such a venue (There is a reason they call it "The Pit").
It indeed creates a TOTALLY different type of atmosphere and its not one visiting teams like....
In fact, Lute Olsen went on record saying he would never play the Lobos on their home-court again...and of course, since his ex wife started banging his ex-players and inevetibally caused him to retire, he will get his wish

I'll make you guys a deal...you guys in South Florida pay for the stadium renovations and I'll use my connections to ensure that the Phins can play in the Citrus Bowl for a season while it gets done. It worked for the Bears, and its a win-win for Orlando and the Dolphins!! lol

Hell, it might even help convince the Jags that we own this place and convince them to hurry up and leave.

    You know....

Im wondering if things have gotten kinda out of hand with these new stadiums...especially right now. The entire reason the owners are *****ing about the current CBA is because of the cost of new stadiums....

Now you have Goodell making these kinds of statements...

Im just wondering...wouldnt it be more prudent, and ahemm...more responsible..if the NFL put a hold on these kinds of things until the economy rebounded. Joe Robbie was been fine the last how many years....Im sure it will be ok another 5 or so....

Oh it would absolutely hold the weight with the correct columns. The club section is not really an issue if you think about it. They come foward and up with the rest of the lower bowl. It would actually add to the sq. footage of the concorse if done right.

The thing to worry about would be what makes them a ton of money. The boxes. But if you move the lower bowl forward to get closer, you could restructure the entire inside of the stadium seats and box seats by making a steeper and more even incline. where the last row of the lower bowl stops then you make the boxes super structured to hold even more than what any column would and rest the first row of the upper bowl right on top of them. Almost like they are now...

Of course your way is the easy way, but more important, its the most inexpensive so I do agree with it.

One thing about the last row in the upper level, is it's pretty far away and by doing what I suggested, they'd be a heck of a lot closer.

Only food for thought though because it would be a ton of money to do so...
