This is CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE that the overwhelming majority of people in our society are complete morons. Here is the most popular crap they claim is music in the country last decade. http://music.msn.com/music/article.aspx?news=446593>1=28102 Honestly, anybody that can find it in their soul to appreciate that "music" is truly a pathetic individual indeed. I have NEVER heard that Mariah Carey song, I couldn't tell you one song from N STINK's album, and Eminem and Nickelback are named best artist and best group? NICKELBACK? Jesus Christ... I weep for the future.
Eminem has serious talent, dont listen to much of it personally but he is an artist.... The rest of that list though, not so much. The reason NSuck is so high on the charts is the same reason PG13 movies make a tone of money though, kids at 12-15 age are great at getting parents to buy them stuff.
The problem with today's music is that: Today's "musician" is a celebrity who happens to "make" "music". A successful musician today is one who is rich and famous. Musical talent/quality has little to do with this. Marketting is everything.
Music in general in America - with very few exceptions - pulled its pants down around 1991 and took a big steaming dump on the population. It hasn't gotten any better recently either.
agree totally with eminem as artist of the decade.......has more platinum albums then fingers i have on my body..... not to mention the random records like most albums sold in a day, in a week, number 1 hits etc etc....the rest? garbage.
Although, whoever decided music needed a cinematic masterpiece, complete with every kind of filter known to man to accompany it, should be shot on sight.
Couldn't agree more. The sad thing is, it isn't ever going to get better. The fact is that 90% of people simply LOVE devouring poop. Poop is mainstream, and it feeds the masses. REAL talent, REAL music, is always going to be kind of an underground thing.
Yeah, Poop = $$$ and just about anyone can make it. As long as the media attention and marketing is there.
Key word there. When we (us farts) were younger all you heard was the music on the radio. MTV popped up when I was a young teen and that put faces to the artists in a way that had never been done before. That's when the marketing of music as a 'product' with pretty faces and whatnot became more important than putting out quality music written and performed by the actual artists. Anyone remember Milli Vanilli? There's the whole marketing BS in a nutshell. All look, no substance. Sorry Lucky, no offense.
Only over here bro. In Europe, real talent is thriving. You should see some of the huge festivals that go on over there. Finding new music, and new talent, is so paramount over there that we're actually going to be playing a few gigs there soon...where the venue is not only paying us - an unknown band from halfway around the world - but they're putting us up and feeding us also. It's insane.
DUDE!!! STFU!!!! When the band we're going with came back from there this year, I asked him where they stayed and he said "The venue turned an old nursery school into a HOTSEL." I was like "bro...can we call it something else? PLEASE?"
Bro, we ever go to Japan and the rest of the band will have to make me swallow a Lo-Jack so they can find me.
Pagan. I lived in Europe for three years. Just got back in 2006. They love real music there. You guys will rock.
Who cares about this? This is proof of nothing, the only people that buy albums now a days is a select few who care about music and the young kids that aren't aloud on the computer to download them... This is the decade of internet, album sales mean absolutely nothing now a days
Yeah, he can talk over a music loop as good as anyone. ^ crappy ^ Nickleback is one of those bands that gives me a douche chill whenever I hear it. It's kind of like flipping through the TV channels and landing on Lifetime, you don't know how you got there but you can't wait to get away. Sorry lucky, I know how much you like The Golden Girls. Didn't mean to sound so harsh.
