We have done what we needed to do to stay in the hunt and be a relevant team. I have not seen enough of any Titans game to know enough about how they play. I have gone to ESPN to review the different stats and how both teams rate. I have found that there are things they do better then us and vice versa. Defense Dolphins Titans ====== Total: 20th 24th Rushing: 14th 8th Passing: 23rd 31st Receive: 26th 31st Opponent: 25th 23rd Offense Dolphins Titans ====== Total: 18th 10th Rushing: 3rd 2nd Passing: 26th 21st Receive: 25th 22nd 3rd Down: 1st 8th I did not take down all stats, I think this is what is most relevant. I have to go on are the stats above. So it seems there offense is better than ours in a few areas but it looks like our Defense is better than there's. It seems its a game that is not out of reach. What are your thoughts? Can we win and if so what will we need to do in order to win? Its pretty clear we need to try and keep Johnson out of the games as much as we can but what other things. Sorry for the long question.
Seems to me that they are good against the run, but you can pass on them. C. J. is a beast, if he gets around the corner on us, watch out. We also have to watch him with screens, because Porter always sells out for the sack and gets burnt by screens.
I could see us resorting to a more of a drop back style. Less of a pass rush in this game. Run stopping will be our focus on D. We are both middle of the pack, slightly above average teams. Anyone could win this game. Both teams are good in certain areas and have weaknesses in other areas. The strategy for us will be continue to convert on third down. Our pass rush will not see as many 3rd n longs. They can rush on first and second down and setup favorable 3rd downs. Thus eliminating our pass rush even more. We need to stay balanced offensively. Keep CJ off the field with long sustained drives. Ricky and Lex need to set up easy 3rd downs and convert on third downs. I'm not worried as much about their D. Their pass rush is most effective from VanDenBosche and he's going up against Jake. I like that matchup, even though Van Den Bosche will get some pressure at some point. And probably make some key tackles on our running game. I like our corners vs their wideouts. It will be a bigger challenge with VY in no doubt. One key area that will be huge is our safeties. Bell and Wilson and even Smith and Vontae, need to tackle CJ outside the hashmarks. One blown tackle and it could go the distance. CJ will get his yards, we just need to eliminate the 50 yard runs. I have no clue what their sp teams are like. Hopefully ours continues to play well in all facets. Any field position battle we can gain an advantage on will be huge, especially when their offensive threat is a runner. Bironas is a very good kicker but so is Carpenter. This will be a close game. WHoever makes the least mistakes should get the late edge IMO.
The reason why their pass defense ranking is so low is because their entire secondary was out hurt over the early part of the season when they were losing. They have been healthy since, and are 6-1 over their last 7 games. Their pass D is better than the ranking indicates.
look for the d to contain the perimeter again this sunday we were good on the edge against the jags interior pressure was there stack them up collapse the pocket cj is amazing only three other guys have hit the 2000 mark from scrimmage in 13 games priest holmes walter payton jim brown
could be that their run defense stats are good because ppl are always passing on them? I am just hoping we can contain CJ. He has not been held to under 113 yards since VY became the starting QB.
