KISS has been snubbed in the voting this year. When Madonna, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, John Mellencamp and Blondie get into the ROCK AND ROLL (emphasis on that word) Hall of Fame before a band as influential (like them or not) as KISS, the whole thing is a joke.
It would be SO MUCH BETTER if they just renamed the thing Pop Music Hall of Fame. Then and only then would anything about it make sense.
Seriously; people like Madonna, for instance, should be in a hall of fame; she has sustained a successful career over three decades, with hit after hit. There's a lot to be said for that. But Rock and Roll?! No. And Cleveland? What's up with THAT?!
Somehow, ABBA makes it into the Hof this year. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/12/15/rock.hall.of.fame/index.html
We wouldn't have to talk about this every year if there wasn't such a severe lack of logic in the whole process. Its just amazing. Keeping KISS out is absolutely inexcusable. Has anyone provided a reason for it yet?
I would just assume KISS was already in, tragic and I'm not even a big fan. The rest of those names are just laughable. Rock N Roll is a type of music, not just anyone that had some hits in America. To me this is like voting Walter Payton into the baseball hall of fame.
Theres a LONG list that should be in before Madonna the ****, ABBA etc etc should even be considered. I honestly stopped paying attention a decade ago...
I know it's off topic, but the Grammys have been a joke for just as long as the R&R HOF. I don't understand how anybody could take the Grammys seriously anymore. This year Lady Gaga is up for a Grammy. Lady frickin' Gaga. That fact alone should get the Grammys banned from planet Earth forever.
