Does it matter? You could hire me for $100 for the year and I'd still do a better job than Cameron has.
You have to sweeten the deal. Sweeten = Fire everyone and tell the coach he can bring in whoever they want. Sweeten = Bring in someone experienced as GM who inspires confidence (Bill Parcells) Sweeten = Pay them a boat load of money. You know, if Schotty was fired before Cam left the chargers, none of this would have ever happened. We'd have Schottenheimer, Cam would be coaching San Diego, and I'm sure we would have had AT LEAST one win with Brady Quinn behind our helm and the players respecting a guy with winning experience. I think the one thing we all need to remember when selecting our next coach is this. NO MORE FIRST TIME HEAD COACHES IN THE NFL. The fins need experience. After all, Shula led the Colts before he came here.
I was just thinking if they would fly me down and pay for living expenses I would be more than happy to coach. Other than fans I dont see anyone else wanting to take over.
Ya know, Shula was the only guy with experience who worked out for us. Jimmy and Wanny had experience. Jimmy was fresh off two championships.
A lot of JJ bashing. If I remember correctly he produced the last playoff win this sorry franchise has produced in many years. Problem with him is he was burnt out and had no idea how to handle Marino on the downside of his career and replacing a legend as coach.
I have read on this message board that Schottenhiemer wouldnt take the miami job out of respect to Cameron where has that been officially reported, because I dont buy it. Next to Parcells IMO Schottenhiemer would be the next best choice for a couple of reasons 1-he is a turn around coach,he makes teams winners sure he hasnt won a SB but he has been close and someone with that talent is almost destin to win and what better way than to do it returning our team to greatness. 2-He wants to coach, so convincing him to come here to miami shouldnt be difficult add that to the fact that he has worked with a GM in every job he has had so I dont think he will be hung up on wanting GM power.
I remember hearing Brian Billick is on thin ice. Another possibility. Hasn't done much lately but has coached a team to a superbowl win. He could get this defense fixed. If we hired a solid OC we'd be in good shape with Billick I think.
Billick is an offensive minded head coach that was the irony of his Super Bowl winning team he came from running minnesota's high powered offense as OC and got the Baltimore job of those merits and his team won on defense,he sorta like Marvin Lewis in Cincy there strengths as coordinators (Billick-O,Lewis-D)has been there teams short commings as HC's. BTW I am not a fan of Billick would rather stay with Cameron then bring in someone thats egotistacal and had trouble grooming a QB, and blows kiss'es to the opossition
if it wasn't for Randy Moss and Ray Lewis, Billick would be a run of the mill OC right now add Ozzie Newsome to that list
