Hey, Thanks to all! I'm half way there. Only 60 more to go. It's a very special day for me and my family. My birthday means nothing to me, other than I want them to keep on rolling by. Today is also my 33 wedding anniversary and my Grandsons 1st birthday. Please say happy birthday to Brent Buckles. Future Gator and Miami Dolphin. I thank God every day for allowing me to win the heart of a very special lady. She has been my inspiration and the driving force to keep a free spirited young man in line for 36 years. Let's give a big round of clap to Roberta Flack, for expressing in song, the way I feel about my lovely Beverly. First Time Ever I Saw Your Face The first time ever I saw your face I thought the sun rose in your eyes And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave To the dark and the empty skies, my love, To the dark and the empty skies. The first time ever I kissed your mouth And felt your heart beat close to mine Like the trembling heart of a captive bird That was there at my command, my love That was there at my command. And the first time ever I lay with you I felt your heart so close to mine And I knew our joy would fill the earth And last till the end of time my love It would last till the end of time my love The first time ever I saw your face, your face, your face, your face May our father in Heaven bless all of you, as he has blessed me. Ron
Happy B-day....You do both know about the NEW tradition right? B-day bretheren and sisteren are in charge of bringing BEER.... Hope it goes well for the two of you
Ron, here is the online edition of "Bartram's Travel's" in it, is the earliest known description of the "cow-ford" now called Palatka. http://docsouth.unc.edu/nc/bartram/bartram.html The entire journal is worth reading but the St. Johns part starts at page 57, part two, Chapter one. Given the name “Puc Puggy” or “the Flower Hunter” by Chief Ahaya the of the Alachua band of the Seminole tribe, Bartram gave us our first peek at unspoiled, unexplored Florida.
Happy b-day Mole! Here's hoping you get out of Palatka and past the SuperCenter for your celebration!
Had it since I was 14 Marty. Thanks though. When he is describing Rollestown (NOW FPL property), directly across from it was evidence of ancient orange groves and an Indian settlement. Found a lot of nice points there.
I'm institutionalized Jcow. My celebration will take place amongst family and friends in my back yard.
OT - My God Ron - that certainly brought a tear or two to my eyes. It's heartwarming to see someone so happy having been married for so long. When my dad died, my parents had been happily married for 52 years and still hugged and kissed each other every day until my dad succumbed to the last year of Alzheimer's disease when he didn't recognize her or any of us. When she called me to tell me he had passed she said she believed he finally recognized her - he woke up, turned to her, looked in her eyes, grabbed her hand and mouthed I love you Nancy and then he was taken home. She took care of him at home for 9 years while he battled this horrible disease. Thanks for bringing some happy tears to my eyes! Mary
man.. spend an hour or more looking for something "special".. peruse my steamboat files, look through all the Tequesta magazines.. finally decide on the earliest mention. Find it online, isolate the pertanant text, go find copy and paste my Puc Puggy comment from my William Butler presentation into my comments.. "Had it since I was 14 Marty." ....46 years late, dollar short, that's me... A REAL friend would have LIED ... I'm gunna go hang out in the "other" birthday thread.. bet "he's" not so mean.... he prolly never even HEARD of Bartram...
Ooh, ooh. Wait a minute. I'm a little sleep deprived Marty, I was thinking it was April 1st, April Fools. I was lying! Thanks for the hard work you put into something special for a friend.
Mary, my reply to you warrants more time than I have today, my dear. I will get back maybe later on tonight, if this bd party stays civil and regulated.
Maybe we can meet at the Oasis sometime this summer. I plan on doing a lot of kayak fishing in the intercelestual.
That would be cool, but I have no idea where that is :o I don't get out much other than our normal errand running.
