the problem is that baltimore will most likely beat oakland and denver will most likely beat denver. if any of the 2 will lose it will probably be denver losing to KC because its a division game. Go Chiefs!
So if Baltimore and Denver both lose this weekend and we win, if they both win their final games they get both of the wildcards? Regardless?
bamm!! http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario this thing is awesome...and so is this forum just found it yestersday tryinfg to cope with the tough loss.
So basically if we win out and Jax loses to NE and/or Denver loses to Philly. We are going to need Oakland to beat Baltimore for us to get the remaining wildcard?
So here's the thing .... do we root for the Pats to take out Jax (considering they play Cleveland in Week 17 and will likely win), or root for Jax to beat the Pats, hoping the Pats collapse the next week IN Houston, and we can then take the division? The Pats win, the division is gone, but one more obstacle is cleared to the WC. BUT, if Jax wins, they are in better shape should there be a massive 9-7 tie at the end with us and others. Using that Yahoo generator, Jax gets in here. And, again, they play Cleveland in the last week ..... do we really want to hang our chances on Cleveland?? But a Jax win this week puts the division somewhat back in play. So, should we play it safe and hope NE wins, or go for the gusto and hope Jax wins? Uggh!
But Baltimore would finish with the same record if they beat Oakland. I think they get the tiebreaker.
Well with NE at home and still having plenty to play for I see them beating the Jags. The Pats match up way to well with JAX. So essentially I am conceding the division to win the Wild Card. Although I will say if JAX does knock off NE and we run the table we will win the division. I do not see how in the world a bad NE road team goes into Houston and knocks off a team that has a great passing game with NE's susceptibility to the pass. Still though its NE and I think our chances are better off with a NE win and Pittsburgh beating the Ravens. All in all I think the 3rd option has about a 65-70% chance of happening. Jax should lose to NE and Pittsburgh just came off a huge win versus a good GB team and Pitt. will have a lot of confidence now and they know they are back in things with something to play for. I give the NE-Jax game an 80% chance of NE winning, Pittsburgh beating Baltimore a 55% chance of happening, and Miami beating Houston a 55% chance of happening (if we were on the road I would favor Houston but Miami plays a lot better at home). No doubt the NE-Jax game is a win win for Miami. Also in all the scenarios the aspect I have the least faith in is Miami beating Houston and Pittsburgh. I think Miami can win both but Houston's strength is Miami's weakness (passing game) and you better believe a defending SB Champ Steelers would be a really tough out if they come into Miami at 8-7 with that game as a playoff spot determining factor. I read an article a few weeks ago where one guy posted that Miami would win a WildCard spot in a game which was basically a playoff game with Pittsburgh in Week 17...I hope that guy read the future correctly.
ya merrill hodge on espn just said the week 17 game between miami and pitt could be for the final playoff spot.....miami isnt out of it!!!
whats worse is my boss is a steelers fan.....so its gunna be like "go miami!" and "go pitt" this week......next week we wont talk. at all.
guys.....tell me another team in the nfl.....that you can take their starting qb, rb, cb, nt and multiple olinemen scattered throughout the season......and remove them.....and them still be potentially playing for playoffs the last game of the year? regardless of outcome. after 2 years ago......this team and being a dolphins fan is fun as **** !!!!!!!!
dude thats THE GREATEST thing i have ever seen......i would marry this link/you if i could! thankyou dude!
Agreed. The way things are looking Miami and the Jets are the teams on the rise in the AFC East and the Pats seem to be going downhill. If not for Miami and the Jets having to play what are essentially two rookie QBs and both teams not losing some games they should have won the Pats wouldn't be in first place more than likely. Also its 14 games in and Tom Brady has been mostly average in all but about two games. That can be a good thing for Miami if the 50TD Brady doesn't exist anymore.
i wouldnt count NE out for the future.....they have a ton of high draft picks....they will get better for sure
Well I'm not counting them out because they are NE but what I am saying is that the trend is that Miami and the Jets are the teams getting younger and better while NE is aging and declining. Of course high draft picks can change that but come on Sick I was trying to cheer myself up that finally NE could be out of the picture.
Sure they might, but our Tri-headed beast can match them shot for shot....we went from 1-15 to taking AFCE, and now we are on their heels again....I like our path and direction. and as long as we have the "generator" to figure things out, I think we will be fine in that regards to.
I posted this in the club, but it is too crazy not to mention . . . The craziest scenario of all is what has been thrown around all day. Assuming that we beat the Houston and Baltimore beats Pitt next week, and that the Broncos win one of the last two then not only will the Pittsburgh game decide our fates, but the fates of FOUR TEAMS. If Miami wins: Miami gets six seed and Denver gets five seed. If Pittsburgh wins: Pittsburgh gets six seed and Baltimore gets five seed. In other words, there will be a whole lot of Dolfans in Denver. So yeah, the game would certainly be flexed with four teams hopes in the balance.
I'm pretty sure that if Baltimore wins vs the Steelers there is now way we can jump them due to common games.
This is correct. If Baltimore beats Pittsburgh next weekend, the Dolphins cannot catch them regardless of what happens on Week 17.
according to the playoff scenario machine thingy.....if balt wins....we win out....and broncos lose to KC.....we make the playoffs.
And of course if Jac beat NE...then the NE @ HOU matters too for AFCE. This Generator just keeps on giving!
Yes, but under that scenario Baltimore would be the 5th seed and Miami would be the 6th seed. Denver would be the team SOL. The point is, if Baltimore wins another potential avenue Miami could have used into the playoffs is closed down.
