http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...s-lber-jason-taylor-playing-through-pain.html When I rewatched the Titan's game I was surprised at how well JT played, Sack, TFL, forced fumble and had the strip on Chris Johnson that was not called. A tastee nugget: Now I've really warmed up to Tristan Davis, a kick returner from Auburn with 4.3 speed and plays running back,I expect him to make some noise in Training Camp 2010, but Wake just is protoplasmic when it comes to dropping into coverage as well as acutally covering anyone. That last bit about Wake being unleashed imho means DC Pasqualoni is expecting to use 4 man defensive front alot, Wake should be fresh for this game with his 12 play per game average, so let's see what he can do on Sunday's Elimination Game. For some background information, in a CFL semi final round he had a great game, 2 sacks and fumble return 50 yds for a TD, so hopefully: Big game=more chances to play=Wake makes a real name for himself.
JT's shakin and bakin way to much before he engages the tackle, that part ive noticed to be very consistent, he must be injured... I would'nt say he played lights out against the titans, but a pretty good game.
Which would mean this set: DE- Taylor DT- Starks DT- Soliai DE- Wake ROLB- Porter MLB- Crowder LOLB- Anderson Heavy pressure out of that set. HEAVY Pressure.
That would be a nice long yardage unit, but I would perfer we stayed in our 3-4 package most of the time. The Texans have been much more succesfull vs teams with a 4-3 base defense.
JT left it all on the field last Sunday. He almost single handily willed our team to a victory. It was gut wrenching to see his expression when we lost. I just hope he uses it as motivation to come out and rip Shaub's head off tomorrow. Or, at least sack him with vigor.
That is true, no doubt about that. I'm not sure why that's the case but it's quite plausible. You could also just have Wake play the 3-4 and see what happens as well.
icky and Anyone else see this as a defensive wildcat set? In this regard , much like getting Ricky and Ronnie on the field at the same time because they were/are two of your best players , this allows your best rush / pressure players to be on the field at the same time. In the right game situation this could generate very positive results. This week would be a great time to attack the Houston passing game. Wake can make a major impact play if he gets enough snaps , and JT has another TD left for this season ... just saying
They have to make changes down the stretch. The base 3-4 is just not important against the Steelers and even Pittsburgh. If Pittsburgh runs on us at 4.2-4.3 YPC, ok that's fine. I'll take that over the alternative of being fire-bombed from the snap through the air. Against Houston we can get away with quite a bit. By the way one reason I'd like to see the 4-3 is that Torbor was an excellent 4-3 SLB back in the day. He's underutilized.
Im dreaming of the day we have 4 LB's who teams fear blitzing every down...with lots of movement and a headache for opposing QB's.
I suspect we will be playing alot of Nickel Defense, maybe even more nickel than base as the Texans running game is not very good, I'd like to see: JP DE Langford DT Starks DT Wake DE OLB JT can play up or down. I'd almost be tempted to move Wilson into the Box as a LB and have Culver and Bell as the traditional safeties.
Agree, the Texans RB's have been putting the ball on the ground so much lately Kubiak will not committ to ANY of them. Although Moats is the most dangerous I think. On the Nickel Coverage I think you need Porter as the LB and JT at DE...but I totally agree on having an extra Saftey in there and Wilson would be the ideal guy considering his tackling ability. I really think with Brown hurt and their lack of a running game our defense could dominate this game.
I was thinking the exact same thing except Taylor on the ground, switching off with Porter as a surprise defense to keep the tackle off balance. I think Wilson would actually be quite good in a rover role that bases itself on the situation as long as he's protected heavily.
jason taylor is a warrior out there, how many times when he gets injured in a game he goes to the sideline i always tell my buddies "he´s comin back in, he is a warrior" doin this for years now, when something happens to taylor now i just turn to my buddies and they tell me "yeah, yeah we know he is comin back"
