http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/APStories/stories/D9CP9P8G3.html Not sure he'll get it this year, but it would be nice if the Dolphins win it in 2010! Then JT and Ricky can both retire on top.
unfortunately I don't see any real reason for us to re-sign taylor. If its vet min then fine but hes done nothing worth keeping him on the team in the second half of the season. its nice to hear ricky actually has football related goals still though.
i dont think a sb is going to happen next year i think we are 2 years away from a push deep in the playoffs
Ricky's a great guy, I don't think we could do it on his shoulders alone though. Things were alot better when Ronnie was in there mainly because we were so dependent on the WC. Ronnie seems to be getting pretty fragile too If he could have stayed healthy i'm sure we would have been alot better off this year. I know Parcells hates injury prone players, mainly because he feels they get hurt because they lack conditioning, was one of his sticking points about rebuilding the team when he first got here. Wonder how that affects Ronnie in the future, his injuries obviously aren't due to a lack of conditioning.
right & wrong: the Tandem from Hell is one of the elite in the NFL together they run stronger throughout any given season however Ronnie is essentially a TandemBack, Ricky is an EveryDownBack Williams has carried the team by himself many times & shows no signs of deterioration @ 32, he is the ProvenBull having said that... let's hope they are both signed by the end of the season (if McFadden becomes available, Miami is his new home & things change)
McFadden would be sweet. Yea Ricky can carry the load no doubt just the team was alot better off with both Ricky and Ronnie and the whole Wildcat thing just worked with Ronnie running it. Seemed to open up the passing game alot more too as a whole the team was much better off before Ronnie got hurt.
ricky carries the load well. but he hasn't made a big play since his first game as the starter against the panthers. since then its been nothing but grinding his way to 80-100 yards. This is good production from someone his age, but its also part of the reason our offense doesn't scare anyone anymore. With the wildcat, teams feared our running game. Now, our running game is completely contained. Ricky may run for over 100 yards but that is no longer the reason we're winning or losing. its all up to Henne now.
has anyone ever seen Ricky break a run into an open field? Williams has serious after burners. I've never seen him run down straight up from behind. if he breaks it open he's gone, pure speed. the best comparison I can make is w/ Eric Dickerson power+speed+agility+vision+durability=something very special Ricky is the total package & is running as if he were 22 not 32 Run Ricky Run! the only game changer w/ Ricky & Ronnie would be is we picked up McFadden in the off season from the Raiders. given, its an outside chance, but it could happen. I'm sure the FrontOffice has quietly had their eye on this move for a while now
lol, Have you been watching the games? The other teams are stacking the box, that why they're "containing" Ricky. And i guarantee you the coaches would much rather have 100 yards throughout the entire game rather than a 100 yards on a few big plays.
^ what you said...plus the Dolphins may not make it to the Super Bowl this year, but I'll be perfectly happy if we win the Wild Card and get into the playoffs. There isn't a team in the AFC that we have no chance in beating. Sure we lost to Indy, but it was pretty dang close. Don't give up on 'em until the season's over...win and we're in.
i didn't say anything about it being rickys fault. Teams approach us the same way we approached the titans last week. "Let Johnson get 100 yards, we can beat everyone else." Teams can let Ricky get 100 yards but they can beat everyone else. Our offense has just lost all of its complexity IMO. no one fears ricky or henne. We have lived and died by Henne every week since the panthers game. but you're wrong about the last part. I assure you coaches would much prefer a running back get 3 carries for 70 yards and a td than 20 carries, 100 yards and no tds. Big plays are the name of the game. Without them you're nothing.
Ricky is easily the fastest running back we have on the team in respect to speed alone, he's still w/i the top NFL (every-down) elite however it's his ability to run the ball between the tackles that has been his signature it is very rare to find a RB who runs w/power, speed, evasiveness & durability Ricky Williams is the TotalPackage, the RealDeal & wants to play in a SuperBowl this is a good thing signing Ricky & Ronnie would be the right thing to do mcfaddenit could happen
I hope my boy gets his ring next year. He is destined to have his name on the stadium honor roll. Go Ricky, Go Dolphins!
I do, because he's still a good player. No he's not 02 or 06 JT but it's not like there are players better than him just lined up waiting to be signed. They'll look to upgrade at LB for sure but they won't be able to magically upgrade the entire corps. The middle is probably a bigger need than the outside and it's not unreasonable to expect to see JT back again, even if it is with more limited playing time. Depth is pretty important too.
Jason Taylor is still on top of the game & his class, leadership & devotion to the organization are irreplaceable we will contend in 2010 & Jason & Ricky will both be there
Ricky has been run down from behind a few times ..... if you go back to the DW era, you'll see it. that being said, i am happy that he will be on the team next year - when the FO fills the last few holes (LB, LB, LB, WR, NT) and we can make a serious run. Jason, will 'probably' still be on the team, but it depends on the route the FO takes in revamping our LB corps .... Wake is a keeper -- who knows on all the rest. i think JP is a goner, as would be most of our MLBs (Ayodele, Torbor), heck all of them if we could effectively replace Crowder ... Anderson is a nice backup, and who knows what the plan is for Moses. does JT still have a place ... 'probably' ... especially if his $$$$$ stay low like this years. i don't list TE, since we have Nalbone and Bronson in wings - so not sure what the FOs position will be .... they were very high on Nalbone, knowing that he was a work in progress.
Friend PHINANALYST: I have watched every game (accept Canadian) in which he has played & never seen him run down (straight up) from behind, once he broke into the open. I have seen him closed down on an angle, even slip or stumble but never run down. I have sometimes thought he reserves a special gear for game day only. He's such an outstanding all-round RB that people tend to forget how really fast he is... the second half is usually when he breaks the big ones. hence, the Beast of the Forth Quarter. Ricky Williams is a once in a decade item. Run Ricky Run! we don't NEED much next year: 1) a serious PlayMaker @ WR 2) starting material NT to enter rotation 3)a stud ILB it would be NICE to pick up: a young TE w/potential, McFadden, a starting calibre Guard to complete the Pod the draft & free-agency should be interesting this time round we will contend in 2010
k, guess the film speaks for itself, just have seen him caught -- won't debate, run down. still appreciate what he brings to the table, none-the-less; just wish the ball fit better in his hand/forearm .....
go look again been there & done that have never seen him run down straight up from behind must be confusing him w/ Ronnie ever heard of a RB who never had the ball stripped or fumbled? or how about a PlayMakerWR that never dropped a perfectly thrown pass or w/ intercepted? it's called playing football
