I am angry that the league flexed the Bengals/Jets game to the sunday night game. This will lead to the bengals resting their starters, allowing the freaking JETS to make the playoffs by winning two games due to the other teams resting their starters. The only way this doesn't happen is if the Texans beat the Pats - allowing for the Bengals to play their starters to fight for a number 3 seed. Why not flex the eagles/dallas game, which is likely a bigger ratings boost and does not matter what time that game is played? Sounds a league conspiracy to get a NY team in the playoffs. Also, this kills any chance (although there was basically no chance) the Dolphins had.
You joined this forum to share a conspiracy theory? Guess what? The jets suck, whether they make the playoffs or not. Nothing changes if they go 9-7 and make the playoffs based on two of those wins coming from teams that rest starters. Screw em!
If they played at the same time, the Bengals still rest their starters. I bet if NE loses in the early game, the Bengals STILL rest their starters. Reason is pretty simple. There is no point for the Bengals to go all out to win this game, and improve their seed(if NE loses), only to get rewarded with playing the Ravens. Ravens are a lot better than their record, and clearly better than the NYJs. Plus, you have a rare case here where one team can roll in with the practice squad and try to see much of their hand as possible, since the opponent needs to win and plays you again next week. The 3 or the 4 would only really matter if NE and Cinci were to meet in the AFCCG, and I don't know about you, but if I'm the Bengals I'll take the NYJ scrimmage->NYJ->Colts path over NYJ->Ravens->Chargers any day of the week. One is clearly easier than the other and you can even have a debate whether the Chargers are the real team to beat in the AFC. We know how the Rivers Chargers play in January and we know how the Colts play in January. There's no conspiracy, it's just annoying that the NYJs of all teams are catching the breaks of all breaks. Personally, I'll be hoping and cheering for a NYJ collapse of the ages filled with Mark Sanchez pick 6s as they somehow lose to Bengals backups.
I want to see the Jets get annihilated by the Bengals when they have to ply them for real a week later.
Very simple answer to your question, NBC has the right for the first round playoff games, and the chances are very good that it will be Cowboys at the Eagles. So why not put a win and your in game on next week and Eagles/Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs. Makes sense to me. I have no problem with the choice.
I don't really care if the Jets make the playoffs or not. I don't like them but it has nothing to do with the Fins... Frankly, would love nothing more to see them make the playoff to get crushed... cause that is what would happen.
True, they might have rested their starters anyway, especially since they are a banged up team, have their memories of palmer going down in 2005, and have to face a blitzing team. However, by being #3, if the pat's go to indy and beat them ( a definite possibility), then they could have a home game in the AFC championship game. I think there is more of a chance of the Bengals playing their starters with a 1pm star time than a night game. Also, why not just flex the eagles/dallas game instead and stop all this nonsense? A much better game anyway.
Yeah, can't blame the NFL here. If anyone is to blame its Jim Caldwell and the Indy Cowards. But I also wouldn't be surprised if Lewis keeps his starters in for Cincy.
No no no people. Well yes it would be funny to see the Jets get crushed in the playoffs. It would be even funnier to see them choke again against the 2nd string bengals to be eliminated this week. And if you want to blame anyone for this, blame the Dolphins. If they won one game against either the Bills, Titans or Texans then it would be Steelers-Dolphins for the final playoff spot on SNF and the Jets would be pretty much done.
Does nbc or the league pick the start time of games on wildcard weekend? If nbc, then that is a good point. Otherwise, I think the main reason is that NBC wanted the new york audience since the giants are out. ITs just a shame the league allowed this. Here is an idea, dont allow flex games in week 16 or 17, when the time of games can affect playoff seedings and playoff teams.
We get to watch them get destroyed the following week no matter who they play. They will come into that game thinking they are on such a roll... Rex Ryan will be wallowing all over the field... Mark Sanchez will be running up and down the field like a school girl... then the game will start... then the press conferences afterwards... then the crying... LMAO!
Really who cares. If the Jets make the playoffs they won't be able to sign FA's and will have a worst draft position, in which they will probably **** up anyways. Actually, I wouldn't mind watching the Jets get annihilated in the 1st round.
Pretty much but at least we EARNED the spot by kicking your *** in your house. where have you been anyways funny how you start showing up now and not after we swept your crap team.
No your not, before today you haven't posted since 10/8, a few days before we beat you for the 1st time, so don't act like you are some kind of dedicated fan.
Always good to see you in here Ronnie Bass. - EDIT: Au contraire, typical of a true Jets fan.. When they are winning, the chest is puffed out on full display, the minute they sense trouble, they go away
Nah BG is a cool guy, sure he may have made some stupid choices(becoming a Jets fan) But he's not that bad.
I know you've been around the forums for a long time, and I know you're not a troll or anything, but seriously, it's not a coincidence Jets fans are just now showing up again. Whether you're good posters or not it's not a coincidence. And yes Miami got beat in the first round last season but they still won their eleven games against teams that were actually trying to beat them and had their best players on the field. I blame it more on the Colts than anybody, the Jets are just playing who lines up across from them. But still, I'd prefer not to see my team get in that way, though I'd still take it. You just have to bear months of people thinking your team was a fraud. That's what happened to Miami after last year and it will plague the Jets if they waltz in against backups.
The JEST are going to back into the playoffs, any team that backs in doesn't deserve to be there. I know they beat the Colts backups and are going to beat the Bengals backups, but the doesn't mean those POS's deserve to be there.
Doesn't matter, all that really does is: 1- Sweep 2- They will get THROTTLED if they back into the playoffs. 3- Their coach is still VERY fat!!!! 4- Their franchise QB sucks. - - Did I mention Sweep?
Miami may have gotten bounced early last season but I can still take pride in the fact that they earned their spot and even sent an eleven win team home. But this is more an indictment against teams like the Colts who are throwing games late in the season. All the Jets can do is play who lines up against them. As much as I hate them what else can they do?
This could be a good thing. Upon making the playoffs Fat Rex will overestimate the talent and ability of his team. Maybe he won't address key needs in the offseason. I mean this guy was crowing half the season about how they were Super Bowl contenders.
The Bengals can knock the Jets out with a win, and knock the Patriots down to the 4th seed. Now pats fans can stop complaining that the only reason the phins won the division last year was because brady was hurt, they had a better record. Or we could do the same since we lost pennington, brown, cobbs, ferguson, allen, crowder, henne, white and a limited ricky the past 2 games. Phew thats a long list that got longer today.
