I think that started with 'Batman Forever'. I thought he was great as Jim Morrison in 'The Doors' and Doc Holliday in 'Tombstone'.

Batman Forever got chopped into a PG movie from what I understand. Can't blame him for that one.

Streets of Blood was pretty awful, but Kilmer had a good performance.

Saw Inglourious Basterds last night and did not like it at all. Although I did like all the scenes with Brad Pitt and I did think the main bad guy was good acting wise but it was just way too long and not a whole lot happened especially since the movie is really only 9 or 10 scenes total.

It is a story that has been told tons of times. I am sure Dances with Wolves wasn't exactly original.

Still the 3d was absolutely amazing and the movements were awesome. The movie is an event to see in IMAX 3D. It amazes me that we have gotten this far.

The only complaint I would have for the movie is
the bad guys are just way to generic. The military guy is so bland and just a jerk for no good reason. The corporate guy is just a guy who wants to make some money. It was so black and white.

I think the movie was more about ooo look at my pretty visuals and don't pay to much attention to the story. I didn't mind any of its shortcomings because the CGI was the best ive seen and people should see it on the big screen.

I do not agree. I think the movie was a good blend of using pretty visuals to tell a story.

It wasn't a bad movie at all. Star Wars Episode 1 was more about ooo look at my pretty visuals and don't pay attention to the story and we will do you a favor of making the acting more bland so you will pay more attention to the visuals.

Even without the awesome visuals it is still a pretty good movies. It is the visuals that just put it over the top. Having less bland villains would of made it one of the best movie of the decade at least.

No way I'm going to sit through a three-hour cartoon, no matter how visually stunning. From what I'm hearing and reading, as hackneyed as the story in this film is, it could have been told in half the time.

Cameron has fallen into some heavily self-indulgent tendencies lately.

I think he's been like that since they let him make 'The Abyss' in 1989, and he's a very meticulous guy.

Depends on how much you like film and technology. In the sense of 3-D, this movie is a huge step forward.

Basically calling this movie a cartoon, you might as well call Terminator 2 a cartoon or any other movie that uses CGI effects.

Saw The Big Bad Swim last night on DVD; it was decent. Some funny moments, and Paget Brewster, Jess Weixler and Liza Lapira in bikinis for most of the movie.

Watched 'National Treasure' with Nicholas Cage on SyFy. It was so-so. I should have just watched it online instead of watching for 3 hours on cable tv, but it was a spontaneous choice of viewing. I think the last movie I really liked Cage in was 'Leaving Las Vegas'.

Wow, very intense, great attention to detail. The storyline was somewhat generic and predictable, but the visuals were stunning.

I saw Avatar and I really liked it. The story wasn't new and there weren't any great plot twists, but it was well done. The acting was good and the visuals were stunning. I actually caught my self with my jaw dropped on several occassions.

I would see it again and that was the general consensus from just about everyone I spoke with. Overall it was just a good movie. I think that most of the criticism is from people who are judging it on some other level. They either don't agree with the politics (I don't think it was overly political, but if you're sensitive to any criticism of the military then you might disagree). Or they have some issue with Cameron or CGI/3D.

Forget the politics, much like District 9, this was a scathing look at humanity and how we would deal with an alien race. Forget Star Trek, and forming a Federation, we would take from them what we wanted, and if they ended up here we would put them in a ghetto. It's human nature.

I wasn't impressed with Avatar. It wasn't a bad movie. The plot, acting, dialogue, etc was a little cliche in some places. District 9, for instance, handled a similar plot better. The visuals were good but I was never blown away by anything. Even if I had been blown away by the visuals it wouldn't have made the film better than pretty good.

I actually think both just had to do with exploitation of others considered weaker..........
Although with district 9 the parallels with the black ghetto in south africa is definately there. Which is why its funny they have black folks doing the exploitation and complaining about the aliens.

Why is that funny? Everyone knows that **** rolls downhill, that's why the poor SOB who gets abused at the office all day goes home to terrorize his wife, she in turn takes it out on the children who pick on the goofy kid next door that is vivisecting flies in his spare time.

I saw it in 3D. It certainly looked good. Maybe people had hyped the visuals so much that I was expecting something unrealistic.
