maybe part of the linebacker play was due to the linebacker coach.

    a blessing in disguise perhaps?

Bring back Zach. Bring back Zach. Mr. Thomas to replace him is the right choice. His film study and lessons would only improve this team and the LBs.

"Will you be the coach at Alabama?" a reporter cheekily asked Tony Sparano on Thursday.

Sparano cracked up, but that doesn't mean there won't be any turnover. Offensive coordinator Dan Henning may retire, though Sparano says he's hoping that doesn't happen.

"He's got a big bucket of chocolate candy, and I think if I keep pouring more chocolate candy in there, he'll hang around for a little while."

Great players don't always make great coaches but if Zach could teach his work ethic, instincts and film prep, the Phins could end up with best LB squad in the league with good draft and trades. I'd love to see them try even though there would be no guarantee it's worth a shot just because it's Zach. I think he would also bring energy to the sideline and keep the fire lit under the LB's butts.

I think Henning and Pasqualoni are older 'Parcells guys' brought in until a couple of younger assistants are considered ready to take over for the longer haul. I'm thinking those two would be David Lee and Todd Bowles.

Has Zach expressed an interest in coaching? That would be something. If he doesn't mind the long hours of coaching and being so close to the action and yet not in the middle of it knocking people around anymore.

Yup, with all due respect to these position coaches that work hard, this move seems to be Addition by Subtraction.

New blood for a Positon that has been less than spectatular in 2009!

Considering he got a promotion I'm not sure how this can be seen as a blessing.

In regards to Zach becoming a LB coach, Ill say that work ethic, determination, etc. are only a few of many characteristics required for a coach. Not to mention that this org. probably wouldn't hire someone as a position coach unless they had some previous experience.

I don't think that is why some of the guys have been slow and lathargic to react to plays... its the talent level...

Good point on the experience as a coach. It would be a major negative on his resume. I think Zach has potential to be a good coach but no clue if he has the desire or will get the opportunity.

On one hand I'd like to see new coaches at LB WR OC etc. But the issues had this season may just be lack of talent and execution on the players side and not the coaches. Without being in the meetings, practices and games beyond a spectators perspective it's hard to say what is the root cause of this years issues. Well easy to say hard to know. I'm guessing a little of both players and coaches. Just have to have faith that the rebuild is on course and more improvement shows next season.

The down side of new coaches is it can sometimes slow if not stall team cohesion.

Probably did a lot for Crowder. Crowder is quite effective against the run and filling gaps. Hes also been very good at getting our D lined up and making the right calls as the QB of the D.

Crowder's struggles have been his athleticism in coverage in the passing game. Film study isnt going to make you any faster trying to cover a TE...

Reid has done a good job as far as the observables. He got Roth up to speed quickly, Taylor as well. They got a career year out of Porter too.

Can he take Earl Dorrall with him? I am very unhappy with all of our receivers this year.

Maybe we can get Al Groh, he is growing on me.

Groh’s expertise in linebackers led to Bill Belichick hiring him as an assistant with The Browns I was just reading.
