Offensive tackle Vernon Carey has been laboring with back and knee problems the last few weeks. He'll soon have knee surgery to help alleviate the issues. http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/miami-dolphins/story/1408136.html
Hopefully he can come back to where he was last year. He just never seemed to be able to get back to where he once was this year due to his injuries.
Well, that would certainly explain why he looked really really slow moving latteraly at times. Is it just, or did we encrue an incredible number of injuries this year?
Vernon, the PanCake Monster will return strong & quick as ever however would like to see Lyndon Murtha (injured reserve list?) heal up in time to give him a run for his money Murtha looks like a Jake Long clone & is an extremely atheletic right tackle want to see if he plays that way
carey struggled a lot last year with his weight and such he talked about it during the offseason how he was over his playing weight and it slowed him way down
Carey needs to lose about 20 pounds to be effective. The long term effect is that his knees are going last longer.
Carey has had problems w/ his weight since his UM days a PanCakeMonster both ways: @ the table & on the field but is an elite offensive tackle & the other Orca-BookEnd would like to get a look @ Lyndon Murtha when healthy
If Lyndon Murtha shows he can hold his own at RT, we could then kick VC inside to the G spot. I think that he would be a monster Guard.
1) don't think Carey would work out @ Guard. he is a consummate tackle who can go left to right but does not work the middle 2) the Lions drafted Lyndon Murtha out of Nebraska. we picked Murtha up from their practice squad: 6'7"320 lbs very athletic, plays right tackle & is a mirror image of Jake Long. has excellent speed & quickness. this guy could posibly play inside or as a blocking TE
Friend Miamiron: the Lions drafted Lyndon Murtha out of Nebraska. we picked him up from their practice squad: 6'7" 320 lbs very athletic, plays right tackle & is a mirror image of Jake Long. has excellent speed & quickness. this guy could possibly play inside or as a BlockingBack or BlockingTE, he appears to have that kind of versatility. last time I looked Miami was carrying him on the injured reserve list. that's as good an answer as I can come up with in a post, all I can do is increase the size & color of the print, so it doesn't go unnoticed (c-2 of 1 on last post)
OT was never a need. It's the G position that could use upgrading (which might involve moving Carey there).
they'll sort out another offensive guard in the off season Vernon Carey doesn't work well on the inside, he is a BookEnd. honestly, don't see many problems arising from the Pod. they are solid, have depth & will only continue to improve. the ideal would be to have 7 not 5 starting calibre linesmen & I think this is what the coaches are striving for in 2010 the NFL provides a long & difficult season in the trenches this would allow for some rotation & avoidance of injuries it all begins in the trenches & can also end there very quickly
