I was thinking about this last night and i am more worried about the jets next year than the pats for the division.
The jets have the team parcells is trying to build, great running game, and play defence.I am afraid if sanchez takes the next step we are in trouble. The jets offensive line is better than ours, and the defence is way better than ours at the moment. The only question mark they have is really the qb and he is unknown right now because he is only rookie.
I do like henne better than sanchez but that is the only postion of our team that is better at the moment.Maybe our defensive ends but that is it.
I think it is going to hard to fill all of our needs without the cba being signed.

More concerns about the Dolphins than any of our competitors.

The Patsies are a has been team going south. The jest are the team to watch. They could become very dangerous. I'm not sure about their depth though.

I don't understand why missing the playoffs has an impact on our free agent list in a capped vs uncapped year?

I believe it's because teams that MAKE the playoffs aren't allowed to sign Free Agents unless they lose one. That's huge for us.

Yeah, I've heard rumblings about that but nothing official. Would love to see something official before I get too excited (since NE and NYJ could be affected).

I thought Goddell confirmed that yesterday on the broadcast. Maybe he was just discussing the possibility of it though.

Obviously concerned about us getting it right but out of those 2 teams, the Jets concern me more. There defense with Revis is sick. There offensive line is great as well and Sanchez will do nothing but improve. They scare me a little.

In my mind New England is still the team to beat. Let's not forget we were the better team this year. Let's not let the fact that the Jets got to play 1 game where the other team quit in the 3rd quarter, and then last night got to play a team that wanted to lose. The Jets looking like powerhouses against teams that have nothing to play for shouldn't all of a sudden make us afraid of them.

New England is still the better coached team, still has the better QB, and still has better WRs. They don't have the defense the Jets do, but IMO, in the current NFL offense wins championships.

This isn't to take away anything from the Jets. They made the playoffs fair and square. I'd love to have two teams roll over for the Dolphins so we could slide into the playoffs. I'd take that in a heartbeat. Let's just keep things in perspective and not give the Jets too much credit for these past 2 wins. They are still the same team we beat twice.

The Jets are going to be competative while Ryan is there because of his ability to put a good defense on the field. The problem they are going to have is that they dealt pretty much their entire draft away. I think they have a 1st rounder left, maybe a 2nd a 4th and 6th.

the Jets could be giving up their 2nd for Lito Sheppard, 3rd and 5th for Edwards and another pick for Kevin O'Connell (probably a 7th)

Patriots concern me more than the Jets. If Welker is out for 12 months, they concern me less. I'm more concerned with how Miami upgrades in the offseason. Don't really care about anyone else at this moment.

Jets are an up and coming team, the Pats are an older declining team.

I would say the Pats are still dangerous, but I don't take the Jets lightly.

You could also argue watch out for the Bills, especially if Cowher joins on board along with the new GM.

I understand what you are saying that they got a break with two teams laying down but lets not forget they played with a rookie qb who caused them some losses by himself with interceptions. If he gets better and limits his mistakes they might have a 12 win team next year.
We need to revamp our entire lbs core get a no#1 receiver with not many unrestricted free agents to chose from

The Pats are a different team without Welker and I could see him missing the first 6 weeks of next season with that knee injury.

not sure if 1 team concerns more than another ... albeit, the PATSIES (offense) and JESTS (defense) strengths are on opposite sides of the ball ..... and i usually fear defense over offense.

should be BILLS sign Cowher, then that adds yet another element to the DIV ... very tough all the way around .... ouch.

We sweeped the jets this year. Unless Sanchez has a total upgrade next year, I'm not all that afraid of them. They've got a strong defense, but I think part of them being the "best defense" was part schedule, and part playing two teams that more or less laid down in the last 2 games of the season.

The Pats are declining, and if Welker doesn't bounce back from that injury, they are going to be in serious trouble. It's that Welker/Moss tandem that makes the Pats so dangerous, paired up with Brady's arm. Although, what makes them more concerning is that they've practically gotten a freaking stranglehold on the draft this year. They've got picks on top of picks on top of picks. Heck one round they've got back to back picks if I read correctly earlier today.

As of right now our team this year was good enough to beat both of them. Next year so long as they don't drop the ball in the draft, it's going to be that much worse.

    Piss on both of them.

I'm so tired of hearing people talk about the Patriots etc. One of the "reasons" people gave that we drafted Pat White so early was that the Patriots were going to.

And it turns out that they never planned to. They already had their player in Julian Edelman who they got in the 7th round.

It is not about the Patriots. it is not about the Jets.

It is about the Miami Dolphins! We improve and let them worry about us!

7-9 makes us a similarly talented team as the Jets who didn't get the benefit of playing two opponents who lied down during the final two weeks of the season.

I wish we had that mediocre teams defense

#1 in the nfl in the least amount of points allowed
#1 in the nfl in the least amount of total yards allowed
#1 in the nfl in the least amount of passing yards
#8 in the nfl in the least amount of running yards allowed
    by comparison we are #25-#22-#24-#18

it makes us average, and if it werent for two teams laying down they would have the same record.

    New England Patriots.

They've got a nice stack of draft choices IIRC in a pretty good class. They have struggled some with draft picks but I still worry because if they hit, they know they can coach them up and make them quality.

I can't argue with that as they have the best front office in football. The richard seymour trade was brillant as usual for this team.
The jets on the other hand have the best running game in football and a really good defence. The problem with this team has been at qb.If sanchez takes a step forward they are going to be hard to beat.
The fins defence has a lot of holes in it and it will be hard to fill with just the draft.

    This.

I think we're extremely close to being a team (or even the team) that everyone else has to worry about. If we go out and excel this offseason then I could care less about the Jets and/or Patriots. They'll have to worry about us.

Jets and Pats are heading in different directions. Pats are getting old the reign of that dynasty is nearing an end. Jets are young gaining experience and they looked pretty damn good last night. Regardless i'm not scared of either of them if we're serious about getting to the Super Bowl we're going to have to be better than them anyway as there are alot better teams we will face in the playoffs. Right now i'm mostly concerned with keeping things headed in the right direction rather than taking three steps back to get one forward like we had been doing for the last 10 years prior to the new regime.
