I personally think that Ricky is done. He didn't look like he played with any heart the last few weeks. He looked slow on his feet and wasn't making very many good cuts. I would rather see Cobbs and Hilliard running the ball with some heart and agression.

    he looks good to me
    plenty of rubber left
    the question is:
what does he want to do?

I think he played with lots of heart. He was just out of gas IMO.

the problem came down to he became our only bona-fide weapon & def knew it. Henne is becoming one & will kill def next yr tha stack the liine, but w/ no big play wr & no threat of wc, def focused on Ricky.

    finished? lol no way IMO

When you come into the final game of the season with a shoulder injury and still play even though your playoff chances are slim, that shows heart to me. As a veteran that sets an example to all the younger players on this team.

Ricky can't carry the load by himself for too many games. He could for a couple but eventually ran out of some gas. He is stronger the less he touches the ball. Look what he did against the Saints as a backup. Ricky will be fine in 2010, he'll have a season like he did last year and hopefully Ronnie and him will be healthy!

He's a complimentary back at this point in his career. The fact he carried the load as long as he did is impressive.

Great read, thanks for posting. I agree Ricky just ran out of gas and injuries caught up with him. I can't wait until next year and hopefully we re-sign Ronnie and Ricky returns along with an emerging Hilliard and returning Cobbs. We can have a dangerous backfield again next year and hopefully it all falls into place.

re-sign ricky & ronnie & the tandem will run fo over 2000 yds. behind the orca-5, not counting what the rest of the stable will do...
what more do you want out of a ground game?
get Henne a PlayMaker, the defense an ILB & another NT to play in rotation, we're off to the SuperBowl

Well rickys only playing one more year. He played tough and had to carry the load, which he didn't want to do.

i've made several jokes about C.J. Spiller being a dolphin but if we can't get the best WR, MLB, or DE in the draft at #12, i wouldn't be opposed to having that ridiculous playmaker on our team.

Though Rolando McClain is the pick until further notice..

down the stretch the coaching staff should have used Hilliard more to take the punishment and wear and tear off of rick
ricky played with a ton of heart this season
he is 32 years old and you would expect him to wear down
they should have shared time with the young guy

This is exactly my point...you shouldn't have to coddle a player because he can't take the abuse of the NFL game. You either go 100% all the time our your out.

Look Ricky had a good year by the stats, he ran for 1000 yards. Problem is though he died when we needed him the most. We needed wins in those last 3 games and Ricky looked whipped and ran for a whopping 146 yards.

That doesn't mean that you get rid of Ricky. He's a great second option when Ronnie is healthy...what more do you want for what he's paid? Ricky brings alot to the table for the Phins, and to dog him for running out of gas is just silly, IMO.

....um...a lot? we paid him 3.4 million this season...that's more than many starters in the league. He's set to make 4.3 mill next season as well. He damn well better be ready to run 30 times a game for that money.

Ricky was just very tired. We didn't use Hilliard, Sheets and Polite like we could have. You can't hold it against Ricky. If anyone is questioning heart here, you have the wrong player. i know Ricky has his fumbles, but how many times was he running the ball by the side line, and lowered his head and turned back into the field of play?

Are you kidding? Cobbs and Brown went down. Ricky played hurt since the Panther game because Hilliard wasn't ready to go. I'll take him as my second back any day.

Uh...you're being ridiculous. A 32 year old back just went for 1000 yards for the Dolphins. He had no one to spell him. How many backs carry the load that much (30x a game) routinely in the league? Especially when they're Ricky's age. You shouldn't be asking your back to carry it that much ever, unless you want your back to have a 4 year career. Most teams run twonback systems now, so paying Ricky $4 mil isn't that outrageous, and he certainly pulled his weight this year.

this just in from the black demon who wears a black visor when playing..

Point blank, he say's he's fully focused, with one objective, he said his resolution was to be a better football player next year then this year, stronger, more productive, more serious, and more emphasis on using his intelligence, to take the leadership role of this team, he say's it's time.

Over 1100 yards, 13 td's starting half the season..punishing fools all year with a 4.7 average...he wants to make his last season a one to remember by fully focusing in the offseason to getting better?..call me intrigued...

first off, everyone has to stop referencing his age. If its that big of a deal then he shouldn't be on the team anymore. After all, he'll be 33 next season. Age is no excuse in the nfl.

i also never stated that id want him to carry it 30 times a game. But for the money he's getting paid, he better do it as hard as he can with a smile on his face.

Im generally just disappointed with our entire offense in the last couple games of the season and most of thats Henning, but Ricky becoming a nonfactor when we needed him most really bothers me as well.

Cobbs is cleared to play? Hilliard runs too raw and needs to refine his running. How did it seem he didnt play with any heart? Because he doesn't spike the ball everytime he gains yards? Or because he doesnt dance in the endzone?

There's no doubt he ran his heart out, he just doesn't have the ability to do it for an entire season anymore.
As a complimentary to Ronnie Brown, he is still efective, but there is zero chance he could carry the load for an entire season.

    a more accurate statement
    would be the team collectively
    declined in production
    during the last three games
due to injury & physical exhaustion
after they played their heart out
    during the regular season

Rikcy Williams was a part of that team.

Ricky ran very hard against the champs on sunday, he looked quick and powerful in his last game of the year, playing on a bum shoulder..He also had speed flashes throuoght the year, got to the edge on pure speed, on many occasions, I saw the player initiate contact all year, and finish defenders by lowering his head on contact...

He had some fumbles and dropped passes this year, so its brings it down to just a good year imo..

His age IS a factor, though. The point is, Ricky wasn't signed to be a FEATURE back. He got a nice little contract from Parcells because he played his *** off, and is a great complimentary back to Ronnie. You can think we are overpaying him, that's your right. However, Parcells thought it was a fair price to pay Ricky, for the role that they wanted him to play on the team. He simply wasn't signed to be the guy who's gonna carry the ball 20+ times a game.
