I fell in love with McClain tonight. What is an impact player at the ILB position? It isn't the physical freak like at defensive end, it's the guy with the great mental approach to the game. Obviously to make that impact you need talent, which McClain has to go along with those great instincts. Hard hitter, good speed, makes the right reads = star at the position. I'd take Zach Thomas with the #12 overall pick if I knew what he would become. You just need ENOUGH athletic ability at the position IMO, which McClain has and then some.
Yes. Hard to tell till after Shrine/Senior Bowl practices. Good play by Kindle but McElroy holds the ball too long. Ytou can only ask your TE to block for so long.
Kindle really didn't do a great deal there. He gets off a pretty poor Peek punch, looks like he's dropping then sees McElroy pull it down and simply attacks the space. Good closing speed, but he didn't MAKE the play and that's my issue with him.
No Sir....but the NFL RB's a bunch of Ingram's....we need to be sure at 12...a can't miss 1 year producer...
Thomas is can't miss. Can play QB, legit 4.4 speed, rangier than any safety in college and more tipped passes than any defensive back in the nation. 8 picks and should have won the Thorpe. Another great play by McClain.
True, however he still made the play so to speak, when a team tries to bring less than what they should a good player makes a play.
Alright Boom, just to be clear: By play QB you meant play THE QB as in read his eyes and such. Not actually throw the ball I hope.
Well, imho as soon as Colt McCoy left the game the Alabama Defense is not really worth paying much attention to Deej. #2 Defense in the land vs a 18yr old freshman Qb, that will only have 1 ending.
This isn't new with regards McClain. But you don't want to see him turn and run because he's very stiff in his hips and he's inconsistent getting off blocks. He's also covered up by Cody and the whole notion of the Tide defense is to allow him to make plays. I'm a big fan but it needs saying.
