A great story if you haven't heard it yet. He seems to be another player with that "something to prove" that our FO likes to have on their team. Even if he doesn't make the final roster cut, you can believe he will bring some competition to the WR's. I think he's a keeper. extremely fast & illusive. a diamond in the rough going to be serious & furious competition @ WR
Has that toughness and drive, desire you want at his position. The kind of kid who'll go get that first down when you really need it. I hope he makes the team.
Why not stash him on PUP? Then if there isn't a hole at the end of the PUP period you put him on IR. There may be a receiver hole that needs filling at that point if someone were to get hurt...
How can you NOT respect a young man like that....WOW. You wont have to worry about him turning into a T.O. or an early Randy Moss. He could be this years Bess.... hope so.
Another example of a "Sparano guy". Not handed anything, earned his way up the ladder, has something to prove. Tough, mentally and physically. Hope he can stick with the team, one way or another. The PUP sounds like a good way, then the team has midseason options if an adjustment at WR is needed. A team full of guys like this can go a long way into the playoffs!
i thought when we drafted him, he was a clear candidate for the IR this year ... then be fully ready to go next year. his potential is worth waiting a year for ... let him heal and get stronger -- and maybe he 'could' become a Steve Smith type of player ...
I can invision him lining up opposite GinnJr. fast & faster would drive the defenders back a few steps
tore his acl on the last play of his college career i believe. Missed bowl game with knee injury suffered making a cut on the last play of the Conference USA championship game. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1265562
I'm dragging this thread up from the dead. I didn't know anything about this kid. It's a good story. I hope he makes it back. He ran a 4.52 forty at the combine only 2 months after tearing his ACL. http://media.nbcmiami.com/designvideo/rcpHolder9-15.swf?path=/sports/football&id=48148257
I don't see him on the Phins roster... is he still around? The last thing I can find is that he was waived/injured on 8/5/09. I hope the guy gets healthy and gets another shot with someone (other than the Jets... I'd hate to have to hate him).
I thought I read the other day that he was on IR and we still had rights to him. But don't know whether he is actually on the roster or not. Regardless, we own him unless we decide to cut him later.
I found his name here: http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...miami-dolphins-depth-chart-to-close-2009.html Then I searched thephins.com to see comments that I had obviously not paid any attention.
Indeed. He was waived/injured. He then cleared waivers which meant his rights reverted back to us and was automatically placed on IR. Poor guy has torn his ACL twice. Will be surprised if he ever regains that speed, but who knows.
Great story hope he beats all the odds but we are talking about a slight, free agent, undrafted wide receiver, with limited experience, out of football for a year, coming off two major knee injuries...............I would not hold my breath on his making it....but again he has beaten some long odds already and shown some moxie so he has a better shot than most others in the same situation I guess.
