why would he wait until february to run his mouth? there's absolutely no risk of having to back up what he says, especially since he's hurt now.
He also says he'll be making plays. Umm ... somebody tell Crowder the season is over. Then again, he wasn't really making plays during the season. Maybe he makes them all in the offseason.
Woah there is a lot of hate for Crowder right now. I know I started it, but I at least thought I was being witty. Crowder will be with out team for a while seeing we just resigned him to a relativily large contract. Lets hope a new DC free him up, (as well as the rest of our D) for big plays. I think Crowder's lack of big plays is partly based on schemes that did not create opprotunities for him to make them.
I think if he can be the #2 ILB, we will be much happier. I don't think he is nearly as bad as people make him out to be. I think it's an above average to good inside linebacker. Unfortunately it's unrealistic to expect Patrick Willis-like play out of him, which is what some want.
an above avg to good ILB makes more than just tackles.....but I agree at the 2nd ILB he would be ok 53 tackles in 13 games...I'm so ripped at this cat...
Part of it is coaching, no doubt, but it is a 2 way street....that guy missed more gap assignments, and the paths he took to the ball, often left him out of position or at the wrong angle to make the tackle......is it something that was taught to him, and he just doesn't get it?? who knows.......all I do know is they need more production for him, and his spot, otherwise ILB probably wouldn't be the most pressing need they have besides safety....
Look at our defense when he was not playing, we need to upgrade at ILB without question. However we should have someone else take Crowder's spot and Crowder take Ayodele's spot.
Totally agree......that's the thing with Crowder, when he wasn't in...their defense suffered, when was in, he wasn't making all these game changing plays either....I by no means say cut him but they could improve that's for sure....
how about we replace both Crowder and Ayodele neither have good awareness or run very well matter of fact all the linebackers on this team suck the two outside guys are old and done with no one worth the damn behind them the two inside guys are dumb and slow and have no one to develop behind them linebacker is the biggest need on this team
No question that LB is a huge problem. But getting rid of Crowder and Ayodele creates 2 holes to fill at ILB, which is too much for one offseason. I'd rather upgrade at ILB and have Crowder basically replace Ayodele.
Crowder is not as bad as you're making him out to be. There were a lot of teams that wanted him when he was going to hit free agency, but he wanted to stay in Miami so he took a lesser deal. That's the kind of player you want on your team.
So Channing should be running by the time we draft his replacement. Good. I wouldn't want him to have to limp to the #2 spot on the depth chart. He needs to move quickly.
name one cause I dont recall a single team ready to offer crowder a contract even so there is always a team willing to take another teams garbage we arent going anywhere with these thrift store linebackers we need some real players in these positions anyone who believes other wise is fooling themselves
Yeah, well.... Look at our defense when he was still in there. Pretty pathetic either way. He will be put to the #2 guy, and somebody else will be brought in. My hopes are that they bring someone in (Dansby or 'lacher would be my preference) and we draft somebody to surplant Crowder by mid-season. - Interesting you brought up Willis, now I don't have to
We signed him before he hit the market, how am I suppose to know who was going to offer him contracts? That would be considered tampering as far as I know. But rumors around the NFL sites were that Crowder was a highly sout LB because he could play in a 3-4 or a 4-3.
I would love us to sign Dansby and then draft another ILB, but I only see one happening. I think we drafted McClain or Spikes in the first round and he takes over Crowder's role and Crowder takes over Ayodele's role. And about Willis... I wanted us to draft Chad Greenway over Jason Allen, maybe they'll hire me as GM too.
I dis-agree on the first. I could see us going hard after Urlacher or Dansby and still picking McClain in the first. The ONLY we will be succesful keeping Crowder is by surrounding him with talent at Linebacker (All 3 not just the other MLB) and upgrsde as FS. - Chad Greenway? Really?
Such a hater... Well who you want? 99 tackles, 3 INT, and 1 FF at LB or 22 tackles at... special teams ace.
Could be worse than Greenway. Did he make it through the season this year? If so, I hope he kicks the poop outa the locals here this weekend
Uhmmm.... Now I am confused. Greenway plays for Minnysoda. They play Dallas this weekend. Warner plays in Arizona and has nothing to do with our conversation....but I do hope they make it to the superbowl
Is Urlacher a FA? Even if he is, I really doubt he comes here (or leaves Chicago for that matter). Besides, I don't know that I would want him (at this point in his career). Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. Dude is stud. But, he's gonna be 32 in May, and IIRC he has some sort of chronic back problem that they basically said there was nothing anyone could do for him. He would just have to grin and bear it if he wanted to still pay football. Anyway, I think Dansby, Ruud and DeMeco Ryans (is he a FA?) might all be better options for the long term. I agree with you about signing a top tier LB as well as drafting at least one (or two) in the upcoming draft BTW. Overhauling our LB corp has to be our top priority this off season IMHO.
A little birdy planted the Urlacher rumor in my ear. He's a fellow Lobo, so if course I have to love the kid Ryans is indeed a FA, and would be another great backer to pick up. The FO has ignored the Linebacker position long enough. They will indeed upgrade at least part of that group this year.
Crowder signed a 3-year deal and one year is already over. realistically, he could be gone in two years.
Is anyone else coming to terms with the fact that he'll never be "the guy" in our Defense? He only looked good when Zach was there to hold his hand.
