If so, then I stand corrected. I only thought the rule applied when giving permission to interview.

I'm please to join this fine organization as defensive coordinator.

My lengthy resume includes Madden AllPro level championships and a fantasy football dynasty.

    Questions?

To bad they couldn't get Monte Kiffin to come back to NFL for the DC. I always thought he was very good at it.

I don't think you need to be questioning anyone elses football knowledge, first of all.

Secondly, he's right. It's not important we hire a defensive coordinator RIGHT THIS ****ING MINUTE OR ELSE, in any sense. They got turned down after interviewing a guy who already had a job, and has cold turned down interviews in the past. It shouldn't be a tremendous shock or surprise.

relax man i wasnt questioning anyones football knowledge
    merely asking a question
the team felt a sense of urgency so it seems
otherwise they wouldnt have shown interest in zimmer
or taken the time to interview groh and butler

Interest in Zimmer was fan and media speculation because he coached in Dallas under Parcells and with Sparano. Nothing more.

could be true we dont know if the fins called and what not
i would speculate that we did
sure is ironic that the rumors swirled about Wash and Miami interest
    and zimmer signed that day
bengals must have ponied up the cash when the value went up

Disagree, we need someone on staff in a hurry, next week Senior Bowl Practices begin and it may be a good thing if "the guy' is in place to offer an informed opinion on the players they like...

There's a reason why so many teams wanted Bowles last year, I think he could be a good DC.

We dont have the D for the Tampa Two

I would speculate that we did not, inasmuch as Zimmer runs a 4-3, and we are committed to the 3-4.

We need a DC for more than offer opinions on the Senior Bowl players. As the coaches of the South squad, the Dolphins coaches will conduct all the South practices during the week. I guess it depends on how many coaches they need to run practices, but I'd think the DC would be an important part of the mix.

It is for us as a NFL team bro. It will be very important for our new DC to work with the kids, and interact with them. We will get to know them better then other teams with valuable insight come the draft.:hi5:

I'm as anxious as the next guy. Remember me I'm the one that wrote "The waiting is killing me!" in another thread. I keep reading that we need a DC we need a guy to help evaluate, and while this is true, it is much more important to get "the right guy". For all we know our next target is coaching in the playoffs and the team is biding its time. Anyone of our assistants can help coach the defense at the senior bowl. Sparano has his hands in everything. He will know if a guy is picking up a system. He will know if a guy is coach able and or has the talent needed at the NFL level.

Have patients guy's. this will all be behind us soon enough.

PS: Better yet let BP coach the Defense at the Senior bowl lol =)

The sky is freakin' falling and it not even February yet.

I can only think that if we don't land a DC until after the SB, it's because we are going to poach someone from a SB team. This team has showed no problem getting coaching talent... its not like a DC would be coming to work for CamCam.

I wasn't enamored with any of the guys we were looking at anyhoo. There are plenty of good assistants still working right now that may be on our radar as well.

I think it is important to have your DC in place before the Senior Bowl, provided he is any good, Miami as we all know is coaching the South squad. It would be nice for Miami's DC to work with these guys for a whole week in practice, and get a good feel from his standpoint....It would be like a missed opportunity...

I would rather see Zach spend a few years as a LB coach before we or anyone anoints him a DC.

wouldn't take this seriously until the FrontOffice comments on it
they wouldn't' fire someone without a better replacement available
before Paul-lite, or any other form of mediocracy, Parcells returns
can't count Butler out until the FatLady sings or BigTuna says so

Ever think that maybe the guy they really want is coaching this weekend? while Butler might have been a good move, I really dont see why all the doom and gloom. the last week or so, most people had never heard mention of his name.

One would certainly think this would be true. Normally you would see a coach let go following shortly by a hiring to fill the position. In this case we let Paul go and then missed on our first few candidates. So it seems to me that there was no preliminary talks or preparation to fill the position.

Please don't get me wrong I know we can do better that Paul P but it just seems to me more of a heat of the moment thing than something that was prepared for.

Seems like they thought Crenell would be a slam dunk since Parcells and Sparano have worked with him before, I don't think they planned on him going with Pioli. I do believe that's why they fired PP so fast, to try and get Crennel here, he was the first one they talked to after all and that kinda came back to bite em in the ***.

I don't really think it's that big of a deal in the end though, I mean PP isn't really a hard guy to replace, i'd say chances are much greater that we end up finding a better DC than him as opposed to finding one that's worse.
