Alright, so I've watched every episode of MvW and I know some of you probably don't watch him anymore because we found out a lot of it is staged, etc etc... but I don't care I still watch. And this most recent episode "Montana" was perhaps his best work. The last half hour is absolutely amazing. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it, it's on the Discovery Channel. Spoiler the part where he climbs up the 200 foot bridge and then has to swing out with a chain that he's not sure is hooked in to get up the last 15 feet was insane. I'm sure the train part was mostly staged but it's still good TV And the zip line was ridiculous Oh and the bugs he eats...
It's not fair to look at this show as a survival show and compare it to SurvivorMan. Bear now basically jumps through hoops for ratings in the most extreme conditions, which if you're ever faced with these circumstances, chances are you already know what you got yourself into / know what you are doing there; Les actually focuses on surviving the longest, playing to the percentages and staying put. People tune in to watch him eat a vast spectrum of things. I enjoy both shows, and learn a lot from either of the two.
i used to love this show and hate survivorman, and i've completely switched now. last season when bear conveniently found a fox bone, old bear trap, and a chain/rope in the barren desert and used them to make a grappling hook, i was done with him. I gave it a shot again this season for the island one, and then he gave himself an enema, and I remember why i stopped watching. We know what an enema is, you don't have to physically do it. just say, hey, if all else fails there was a family who had to do enema's once to survive, and then leave it at that!!!
Love Les Stroud......and even if MvsW was all real.....no normal person could do 1/2 of what that guy does.
No SH*T! I love both, actually. Whatever happened to Survivorman? Bear is amazing, though. Bit of a showoff, but amazing. Les is more realistic. He can play the hell outta some blues harp, too!
The show ended and it's not coming back. I liked Survivorman too, but I can only assume that MvW gets better ratings and that is why it's still around.
